  4. Picture text: Just after taking a dead patient away, this is what nurses found Siam Rath reported on a video going viral on TikTok that they said really made the hair on the back of your neck stand to attention. It was posted by a nurse. It showed an empty bed from which a deceased patient had just been removed. Yet the vital signs monitor was still on. The poster admitted that the machine was probably malfunctioning. But they called the number that was displaying - 45 - a "laek suay" - meaning that it was nice and may herald a lottery win. Netizens commented in droves with many suggesting the machine be checked while others planned to play 45 in the next lottery draw. That is expected to take place at the end of next week. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-06 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Soon in the custody of the Phrapradaeng cops were two brothers. Thanwa Saengsuwan, 22, walked straight into the lion's den - he was arrested at the police station when he happened to go there to sort out a road traffic accident. He had to admit it was him when shown the CCTV. He said he'd been with his younger brother aged 17 who was subsequently picked up at home along with two of the plants. Clothes and a motorcycle used in the theft were taken into evidence. They admitted everything and were charged with theft at night using a conveyance. They said they were going to raise the plants themselves. Thanwa said he didn't know who the plants belonged to though he admitted to having lived in the area before and knowing the owner. If he'd known they belonged to the house owner he wouldn't have taken them. There were dozens of ganja plants and kratom plants he said after taking two big ones and a small one. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-06 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 8. Sanook Thai Caption: Fortune amid misfortune A Honda driver told Sanook how he was just steps away from potential death after a wall collapsed on his car. (for video click HERE) But his insurance had run out just a few hours before. A video showed the moment when a wall atop an old three story building collapsed in heavy wind and rain in Bang Sai sub-district of Muang district, Chonburi on Thailand's eastern seaboard. Local mayor Rungreauangsin Wongsaithong told the media that it was an old religious affairs building that was 55 years old. Rain had gathered weakening the wall. Civil engineers were trying to determine the structural integrity of the building before decided if it could be repaired or would have to be demolished. Barriers had been erected amid fears of more collapse. The Honda owner Anucha, 38, was still in a state of shock contemplating how he had been both fortunate to avoid death and unlucky in other ways. He said that he had opened the hood of his car to put in a new battery. But he had forgotten to bring his spanner so he went back home to retrieve it. He'd not walked ten steps before the wall came crashing down. He said he didn't normally park there but it was close to his home and convenient for a battery change. But there was further misfortune for Anucha. He said that his insurance had run out at 4 pm and the wall collapsed at 9.20 pm. He advised the public not to park next to old buildings or advertising hoardings in the monsoon. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-06 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 12. Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath reported on a gold shop robbery that was soon resolved yesterday morning. A staffer at the Mae Thongsuk Yaowarat gold shop on the first floor of Big C, Saphan Mai, northern Bangkok, by the name of Suriya Sukta, 40, said that just after opening time at 10 am a man had come in. He wanted a gold bar but after being told they had none he was shown, and turned down, jewelry. He seemed like an ordinary customer and came back a second time and was shown 5 baht and 10 baht weight gold necklaces. Suriya handed over a ten baht weight necklace - worth in the region of 300,000 baht - and saw that the man was getting excited and his hands were shaking. Added to the fact that he had taken the best part of an hour to decide what to buy - most unusual - Suriya secretly beckoned to staff that something untoward may be about to happen. It did. The man said: "Phee phom khor na?' (may I have this?) and ran out with the ten baht necklace. Siriya chased him and was assisted by a security guard and a member of the public in apprehending the thief in Pahonyothin Soi 50. Surasak Siribun, 29, said he is a van driver and didn't have enough money. He has many problems not least of all a 100,000 baht online gambling debt. He said that his girlfriend in Sakhon Nakhon had told him not to do anything rash but he saw no way out. So he parked his van outside the nearby market and prepared to rob the gold shop. He has been charged with robbery by the Bang Khen police and detained. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-06 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Daily News reported sad news from Mae Ramphung beach in Muang district of Rayong on Thailand's eastern seaboard after a turtle washed up dead. Environmentalists, vets and fishing experts were called after a tourist found the creature outside the Rayong Beach Hotel on Monday afternoon. It was 50 cms long, 30 cms wide and weighed about 10 kilos. Vet Thanaphan Chomcheun said that it was a green sea turtle (chelonia mydas or tao tanu in Thai) aged about 5. Its sex could not be determined. The body had no injuries and an initial examination of the intestinal contents revealed nothing untoward. The turtle was taken away for a full autopsy to determine the cause of death and hopefully prevent a recurrence. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-06 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 22. Daily News Thai Caption: Reconciliation failed The thought that a Thai man's ex wife was going to find a "phua farang" (western husband) proved too much for a drunk guy in the north east, reported Daily News. Chutiphon, 40, tanked himself up on booze and jumped over the wall of a house in Phakdeeburirak Road in Nangrong district of Buriram. He was armed with a knife. A furious argument developed with his ex wife Suthanee, 36. The couple split four months ago. Seeing things were headed in a bad direction Chutiphon's former mother-in-law Sommai, 60, tried to intervene. She was stabbed in the right side of the ribs. Chutiphon still tried to attack his ex wife and his 18 year old son. Picture: Daily News The young man "graaped" the feet of his father begging him to stop which he eventually did. He fled on a motorcycle and was arrested at the bus station trying to flee the area. The wife said she would have no forgiveness for her ex. The mother in law is out of danger but still in hospital. Chutiphon, in tears, said that he had ordained into the monkhood in 2005 but left of his own volition. He admitted he and his wife had had constant arguments and that he like to drink but they carried on for the sake of their two children. Picture: Daily News But when she said she wanted to take up with a foreigner, that was too much to bear. He spent every waking hour thinking about that before drinking himself into a stupor to embolden himself and going to see his wife armed with a knife. He said he didn't mean to hurt anyone, he was trying to reconcile. "It was the booze," he said. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-06 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 24. By Erich Parpart Questions are being asked whether Caretaker Prime Minister and reportedly the mastermind behind the 2014 coup – General Prawit Wongsuwon, has run out of use of General Prayut Chan-o-cha. From the looks of it, the answer to the question seems to be a big ‘yes’. Although caretaker Prime Minister Prawit has said that he would not reshuffle the Cabinet yet as he awaits the outcome of the Constitutional Court’s verdict on the fate of General Prayut’s 8-years term limit, because he wants to respect the Prime Minister. There are at least 4 Cabinet seats that are vacant and need urgent reappointment, but such a move is only likely after the Constitutional Court gives its verdict later this month. The court has already called in a meeting on September 8th and will likely hand in its verdict 15-days thereafter which could be as early as September 26th.
