Siam Commercial Bank’s (SCB) mobile banking app became the next to crash today (Friday), following the Bangkok Bank and TMBThanachart Bank’s (TTB) mobile banking systems, which went down yesterday, on the day salaries are transferred to their customers’ accounts, prompting outrage among Thai Twitter users. Many users were further frustrated when SCB’s mobile app also failed this morning, along with a message reading “Service is not available at the moment, please try again later”, top-trending Thai hashtag “SCB is down” on Twitter. One prominent Thai Twitter user “Kaewmala” tweeted what translates as “Thai mobile banking apps at the end of the month, and people are suffering”, along with a screengrab of the trending hashtags, including “SCB is down”, “Bangkok (Bank) is down”, and “TTB is down”, showing that the mobile apps of three major banks have crashed all at once. by Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - The Prime Minister has ordered a crackdown on illegal drug operations, hoping to safeguard young people from illicit substances. Speaking at an awarding ceremony for people and organizations with excellent contributions to anti-drug efforts, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha elaborated on the country’s anti-narcotics operations that aim to find a balance between suppression, prevention, and rehabilitation. He said awareness-raising campaigns are needed to tell young people about the consequences of drugs, along with campaigns to promote drug-free schools and communities. He stressed the need for occupational training for addicts in rehabilitation, which will enable them to have a new life. The number of arrests in Thailand related to drug cases between 2018 and 2022 saw a decline, thanks to stringent measures and cooperation with neighboring countries, especially Laos and Myanmar. The Prime Minister also urged local officials to continue cracking down on those involved in drug rings, including their financial supporters. From 1 October 2021 to 29 June 2022, Thai authorities seized a total of 9.21 billion baht in assets from drug dealers. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-07-01 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. file photo for reference only Thailand's Anti-Fake News Center investigated after reports that the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand reported said that all passengers must wear masks on flights entering Thailand from today (July 1st). They discovered that it was true. Although the wording showed it was only partially true, suggests ASEAN NOW. The CAAT had a number of rules related to the ending of Thailand Pass and vax and testing requirements on their site. But they advised that mask wearing on the plane was "recommended" as the cabin was an enclosed and sealed space. Thus it was deemed not fake news though it appeared not to be a stipulation of boarding a flight. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-07-01 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 77kaoded Thai Caption: Medical weed has side effects in 1% of cases Dr Kiatphoom Wongjarit of the Thai Ministry of Public Health said that there had been no increase in adverse reactions to marijuana since the change in the law earlier last month. This included mental health episodes. Studies have shown that when used for medical reasons the drug has side effects in just 1% of cases and those are invariably just minor. When used properly it is safe though the doctor stressed that the MopH was advising only medical use not for recreational purposes. In a report on his comments 77kaoded said that the MoPH was advising the public how to use the drug and are carrying out public awareness campaigns to improve education and understanding of its uses. One thing that was stressed was that people should not smoke it in public as this might be a cause of annoyance from the smell and smoke. Also the under 20s, pregnant and breast feeding women should avoid it. Precise laws are currently being looked at for the upcoming Cannabis Act. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-07-01 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Calls to make Khao San Road a "Marijuana Hub of Thailand" - but hawker leader disagrees Thai Rath reported on the visit of Suphachai Jaisamut to Khao San Road in Bangkok last night. Suphachai heads the committee looking into the provisions of the Cannabis Act that is due to specify the law regarding marijuana in the coming months. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1264572-calls-to-make-khao-san-road-a-marijuana-hub-of-thailand-but-hawker-leader-disagrees/

Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath reported on the visit of Suphachai Jaisamut to Khao San Road in Bangkok last night. Suphachai heads the committee looking into the provisions of the Cannabis Act that is due to specify the law regarding marijuana in the coming months. The drug and hemp was legalized on June 9th and since then dispensaries, street stall and vans have popped up in many places not least of all the popular tourist area of Khao San Road. But as Suphachai made his tour of places selling marijuana and putting it in food he was confronted by Yada Pornpetchrampha who heads the Khao San Road Hawkers' Association. She said that she disagreed with the head of the Khao San Traders' Association Sanga Reuangrattanakul who reportedly stated that he wants the area to be a "Ganja Hub" of Thailand. Suphachai assured her that the new law will look into all aspects of "Free Marijuana" throughout the country and that creating a hub "would not be easy". Earlier the committee chairman had said that the laws being formulated would satisfy all concerns expressed by people in Thai society and foreigners looking in from abroad. He stressed that nothing is free of regulation. He pointed to the smoking of regular cigarettes that are banned in many places and whose sale is restricted to the under 20s. "You even need to use a Zebra crossing to cross the road," he observed. That off-the-cuff analogy may not have been the best in the circumstances, suggests ASEAN NOW. Zebra crossing laws are almost universally flouted in Thailand. He said that total marijuana freedom was a misnomer as he advised businesses in the area that they must not sell to teens or pregnant women and those putting the drug in food need to clearly state what they are doing with signage. The overriding message from Suphachai, for now at least, was not to abuse the new freedoms surrounding marijuana, not to rock the boat and be sensible. He suggested that one of the laws is likely to be specific licences for "marijuana vans" selling the drug on the streets. He continued with the rhetoric that marijuana is for medical and economic reasons in Thailand. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-07-01 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
