BANGKOK, April 22 (TNA) – Ayuth Sintoppant, director-general of the Corrections Department, dismissed a prison guard pending disciplinary and criminal investigations into alleged extortion against an inmate’s daughter. The dismissal followed a complaint to the justice minister from a woman who said that the guard of the Thonburi Women Correctional Institute repeatedly extorted money from her in exchange for care for her imprisoned mother. An initial probe found the complainant had a case. It was no ordinary cat; a short haired Scottish Fold breed called Manee. The breed is known for having a natural gene mutation affecting cartilage that flops the cat's ears forward. Eighteen year old night shift security guard Piya Phoonsanthia was the first to see the missing moggy. But he was unable to catch her and she ran off into some neighbors' houses. He called Manee's owner to say he had made the sighting. In hinsight this proved a wise decision. The cat eventually went back home of its own accord prompting netizens to speculate as to who - if anyone - would get the reward. This has now been answered in an online post by Piya who works at the Noble Tara Town in Town 3 estate in Bangkok. BMTA CEO Kittikan Chomdoung Charuworapolkul said as part of its rehabilitation plan, the agency would hire a private company to procure 400 electric buses, as well as drivers and fare collectors, to serve passengers at BMTA’s eight bus terminals. According to Kittikan, the budget for the plan is allocated from the BMTA’s revenue set aside for maintenance and gasoline costs, as well as the state subsidy for public service obligations. The BMTA’s rehabilitation plan, which was recently approved by its executive board, calls for a private concessionaire to operate 400 electric buses. The victim had his head covered in duct tape and had his legs and arms bound. He was then shot in the head with an 11 mm gun. He had been lured to Chachoengsao by a woman called Supreeya or Oi, 44, who used a ruse about renting his van for 1,600 baht. Seven people were involved and five of these were arrested leaving two outstanding warrants for murder, abduction, arson and weapons' offences. These were served on Thanit and Rattana, both 44. The minister explained that since the economy started to recover, the administration was able to earn more revenue. Thus, further evaluation is needed to determine the necessity of an additional stimulus package.
