Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath reported on an extraordinary crime at a house in Pathum Thani yesterday. A Thai man shot a couple and their five year old son dead in revenge for the alleged planting of drugs at his mother's house. The shooter's mum was jailed for 25 years. This was payback time. Khukhot police captain Kitti Jaihan arrived at house in Moo 11, Soi Hathairat 2, Lam Lukka, Pathum Thani. Dead just outside the property was Kornwika "Nam" Srikhram, 37 and her five year old son in pools of blood. Inside was the husband and father of the other victims, Sorawuth "Bell Thiamrak, 27. He was also dead from a gunshot wound. The shooter was still inside the property. After a considerable standoff with police he surrendered to their custody along with a Glock 19 and ammunition and a Glock 26. He was named as Min Cheuachum, 29, also known as Kae. Picture: Thai Rath The mother of Nam, Sureelak Srikhram, 58, said she had been in her house (apparently very close by) with another son when she got a phone call from her daughter who was at the market with her husband and son. Nam said that a man would be visiting and to give him something to eat if he was hungry while he was waiting for their return. Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe Kae arrived in a taxi and said "sawatdee" to the older lady politely. She gave her blessings and he smiled. He then waited in her daughter's house. The family arrived back from the market and were unloading the car. Bell and his son went to their house where the friend was waiting and two shots were heard. "They're shooting guns for fun again, said Sureelak. But it was for real. Her daughter went to investigate. Phichai, 51, said that he had been having a video call with Bell, a man he treated as a younger brother. He wanted to borrow some money. He heard several shots and the screams of a young boy before the line went dead. He called back and Kae answered the phone. "Who's that?" asked Phichai to which the person said: "It's Kae khrap" "Which Kae - Kae Chai Klong?" "Yes, that's right khrap". "Was that a gun I just heard?" "Oh, Bell was just shooting for fun," came back the reply. "Oh, can you please put Bell back on the line," requested Phichai. Then came the stunning news. "Actually he's dead. I just shot him", then the line was cut again. Phichai phoned back again and once again Kae answered. This time he told Phichai that he had shot all three family members dead. Asked why, he wouldn't say. Police understand that Kae's mother had been jailed by a court for 25 years after drugs were found at a house. Kae believed that a friend of Bell's had planted them there so he had gone to his house to get revenge. Investigations continue. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-05-05 - Pacific Prime offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Picture: Thai Rath Thong Lor police accompanied by metropolitan deputy chief Pol Maj-Gen Chokechai Ngamwong were called to a cold meat cuts company in Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok, yesterday lunchtime after reports of three people shot, reported Thai Rath. It happened in three story business premises in Soi 49/6 about 12.30 pm. A French man named later by English print media as Marc L, 66, was found shot in the chest in kitchen on the ground floor. Picture: Thai Rath A Thai woman - named later as Wiranya Meeyai, 43 - was also shot and found in a cold storage room. Injured at the scene was David B, who had been shot in the left side of the ribs. He was taken to Samitivej Hospital nearby and is out of danger. Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath said that there was a Honda Jazz parked outside the Flying Board Bangkok Co Ltd - a business with 4/5 partners that supplies cold cuts and French food to top hotels. There are kitchens and cold storage areas at the property as well as offices on the second floor and a sleeping area on the top floor. A 9mm gun was found under a locker. Employees said that several of them were eating opposite the company when a couple arrived - a French man and a Thai woman. The employees had never seen them before. Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe They said they had come to see David and were shown inside the company to meet him. The understanding was that they were customers. Two or three minutes later four shots were heard. A sous chef working out back said they heard an argument in the French language between two men but had no idea what it was about. David was seen holding a gun then throwing it under the locker. Employees claimed that David did not own a gun. Picture: Thai Rath David's Thai wife Nam Pheung was sleeping on the third floor and said she had no idea what it was all about. Maj-Gen Chokechai similarly offered little concrete evidence though he suggested there had been a struggle for a gun. Investigations continue in a story being widely reported across all media in Thailand. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-05-05 - Pacific Prime offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. file photo Thailand on Thursday (May 5) reported 9,790 new COVID-19 cases, 17,109 recoveries and 54 additional deaths over the past 24 hours. Thursday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 4,300,614 with 28,914 deaths. The news comes as Thailand’s Education and Public Health ministries have adopted several measures in preparation for the resumption of on-site classes on May 17th at schools across the country, after almost two years of online learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although numerous safety measures are in place, they are less restrictive than they were at the start of the pandemic, to reflect the changing situation which saw new COVID-19 infections and deaths steadily slowing after the Songkran holidays.** ** Thai PBS contributed to this report Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-05-05 - Pacific Prime offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Now more than at any time over the last few years, there is good cause for optimism at a local level, with Hua Hin well poised to cater for a pent-up demand for golf tourism. In a country well known for its love of golf, Hua Hin has carved out a strong reputation as a golfing destination of choice. It features a number of world-class courses, including the Banyan and Black Mountain courses (which will be hosting the Centara World Masters, May 8-14), while – from the green-draped mountains in the west to the long white beaches stretching along the Gulf of Thailand – it provides a truly striking natural setting. Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe Hua Hin businesses have had to navigate some tough times in recent years, however 2022 has brought with it the promise of a fresh start. Weekends have seen a notable increase in tourist traffic, and the recent Songkran Thai New Year saw travelers arrive in their numbers, providing a welcome fillip for the local economy. Hua Hin’s proximity to Bangkok (it’s around a three-hour drive) makes it a natural focus for domestic tourism, and – with Thailand having removed pre-departure and on-arrival testing requirements from May 1st – international tourism will be a growing focus in the 2022 second half.
