Certain Officials Could Possibly Be Charged With Misconduct Over Thaksin Case By Thai Newsroom Reporters Move Forward MP Rangsiman Rome, left, de facto Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinawatra in the swimming pool, right. CERTAIN GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS ranging from hospital doctors and the head of the Corrections Department to Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong could possibly be hit with legal action on misconduct charges over their contentious handling of de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict on parole Thaksin Shinawatra. According to Move Forward MP Rangsiman Rome, certain doctors in charge of treating Thaksin at Police Hospital, Corrections Department director-general Sahakarn Petchnarin and the Prachachart-attached justice minister could possibly be charged with perpetrating misconduct and power abuse, given their alleged failure to conclude that the de facto Pheu Thai boss had not been “critically ill” as earlier repeatedly claimed by themselves. Instagram pictures recently posted by Thaksin’s daughter/Pheu Thai leader Paetongtarn Shinawatra featuring the de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict on parole joyously playing in a swimming pool with his grandchildren obviously manifested the fact that he had been by no means “critically ill” as earlier falsely claimed, according to the opposition lawmaker. Tawee categorically dismissed sustained allegations that the authorities, especially the Corrections Department under care of the Ministry of Justice, had used legal loopholes in favour of the de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict on parole and maintained that the deposed prime minister had been “critically ill” as earlier officially reported by the Police Hospital doctors and department officials. Thailand is committed to remaining neutral concerning, what is in effect, a civil war in Myanmar, and will help as required restore peace in the country, said Thai Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara today. “We wish to see an end to the conflict and all conflicting parties start negotiations. Thailand, as a close neighbour, has previously shouldered the impacts of the domestic problems of Myanmar,” he said. Parnpree was speaking at a press conference after attending a special meeting, hosted by the prime minister, following the seizure of Myawaddy township by rebel forces/ Based on past experience, he said an influx of displaced people is expected to seek shelter on Thai soil. The maximum number of immigrants Thailand can accommodate is 100,000. If the number exceeds that, Thailand will seek assistance from the international community, he said. Paetongtarn’s Instagram account Paetongtarn Shinawatra has apologised to those who were unhappy with her Instagram post, showing her father, Thaksin, playing with her children in a swimming pool. She claimed she just wanted to show the happiness of Thaksin and his grandchildren, adding “I did not mean to offend anybody with my post. I apologise.” She then insisted that she would cease posting. The post featured Thaksin, who is released on parole from a prison sentence he was serving for corruption, in a swimming pool at his Chan Song La residence with Paetongtarn’s children. Many people expressed doubts about Thaksin’s true health condition, as he was paroled due to old age and “serious illness”. The Corrections Department’s parole regulations stipulate that a prisoner must be over 70 and meet criteria for sickness, including being unable to perform daily tasks without assistance. Thai woman sparks backlash for vaping on Chiang Rai flight (video) by Petch Petpailin Photo via Twtter/ @redskullxxx A Thai woman is facing criticism after a video of her smoking an e-cigarette during a flight from Mae Fah Luang International Airport in the northern province of Chiang Rai went viral on Thai social media. A Thai woman is facing criticism after a video of her smoking an e-cigarette during a flight from Mae Fah Luang International Airport in the northern province of Chiang Rai went viral on Thai social media. A passenger took a sneaky video of the woman vaping on the plane and shared the content with the Red Skull Twitter account. The account shared the video to the public on April 11. The caption read… “Vaping on the plane! Don’t know how she passed the screening counter at the airport. She smoked the e-cigarette without respect for the rules and other people’s safety. Such a shame! She gradually released the smoke under the face mask, so not many people noticed her action.” The video garnered attention from Thai netizens, and the comment section was full of complaints both against the smoker and the airport’s recklessness. “Don’t know the rules? Just come out of the cave?” “First time for the caveman on the plane.” “Shameless!” “Are you gonna die if you stop smoking for a while?” “Why did the man sitting next to her ignore that? This is completely against the rules!” “So bad, both the smoker and the airport!” The Twitter account and the woman who shared the video did not disclose the airline and the destination of the flight to the public. Mae Fah Luang International Airport Director Somchanok Tiantiabrat clarified the issue in an interview with Matichon, saying there was a chance that the e-cigarettes would be snuck on board because their bodies are mainly made of plastic and could not be detected by the x-ray device. Somchanok explained that the woman’s action violated two main laws including: Section 42 of Tobacco Products Control Act: smoking cigarettes in prohibited areas. The penalty is a fine of up to 5,000 baht. Section 8 of the Act on Certain Offences Against Air Navigation: smoking on a plane. The penalty is imprisonment of up to one year, a fine of up to 40,000 baht, or both. Somchanok urged any passengers who witnessed the rule violations during the flight to immediately report it to the cabin crew to coordinate with the destination airport to arrest the suspect. Somchanok revealed that the authorities already knew the flight where the issue took place and would contact the airline to bring the female smoker to justice. by Petch Petpailin Photo via Twtter/ @redskullxxx สวัสดีค่ะฝากคลิปหน่อยค่ะ ดูดบุหรี่ไฟฟ้าบนเครื่องบิน! ไม่รู้ว่าทางสนามบินปล่อยผ่านการคัดกรองได้ยังไง ดูดบุหรี่ไฟฟ้าบนเครื่องบินไม่เคารพต่อกฎและชีวิตส่วนรวมเลยค่ะ หน้าไม่อายมาก เขาค่อยๆพ่นควันออกมาในแมส ควันเลยไม่เยอะ ไม่เข้าใจเหมือนกันค่ะ คาดว่าด้ามเป็นพลาสติก… pic.twitter.com/kxo2VHLjeu Source: The Thaiger 2024-04-10 RELATED TOPIC: Two Estonians fined for smoking on Finnair flight into Bangkok Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1324565-two-estonians-fined-for-smoking-on-finnair-flight-into-bangkok/ Get our Daily Newsletter - Click HERE to subscribe

Phuket RBC’s urgent call for blood donations ahead of Songkran
webfact posted a topic in Phuket News
Phuket Regional Blood Centre (Phuket RBC) issued an urgent call for blood donors of all types to help increase the blood supply during the Songkran holidays. To incentivise donors, the centre is offering free Give Blood Save Life T-shirts to those who donate blood at their Phuket Town offices between April 9-11, from 8.30am to 7.30pm, or between April 12-16, from 9am to 3.30pm. The initiative is designed to bring brightness and cheer during the Songkran festivities, according to an announcement by the Phuket RBC. However, the need for blood is urgent and serious, as the centre’s reserves for transfusions are critically low. This shortage is exacerbated by a rise in road accidents, leading to a greater demand for all types of blood for transfusions from Phuket hospitals. As of March 30, there have been 52 recorded road fatalities in the province since the beginning of the year, compared to 33 in the first quarter of 2023. As of April 9, the road accident toll in Phuket for the year has risen to 53 deaths and 7,613 hospital admissions due to injuries sustained in road accidents. With the Songkran holidays being among the most perilous days of the year on Thailand’s roads, a further increase in accidents and injuries is anticipated. Therefore, the Phuket RBC is especially in need of Rh-negative donors, though donors of all types are welcome. Donations can be made directly at the Phuket RBC in Phuket Town, which operates on various schedules throughout the week, or at Vachira Phuket Hospital on Yaowarat Road in Phuket Town. The Phuket RBC and Vachira Phuket Hospital can be reached via their respective telephone numbers and Facebook pages for further enquiries, reported Phuket News. In related news, the Karon Municipality in Phuket yesterday put to rest concerns raised by locals over an incident involving a 67 year old monk, Phra Manop Nonthakho, who was believed to have stripped naked at Karon Beach. A representative of the municipality, Adisak Phromsila, clarified that the monk originally from Nakhon Sawan province had not fully disrobed but kept on his half-length robe while taking a dip in the sea. by Mitch Connor Picture courtesy of Thai Red Cross Society Source: The Thaiger 2024-04-09 Get our Daily Newsletter - Click HERE to subscribe -

SAMUT SAKHON, April 9 (TNA) – Upon inspection of factory workers at the first factory found with cadmium waste, eight people were found to have cadmium levels exceeding the standard threshold and have been sent for treatment. Dr. Kitthi Kanpirom, the local health inspector, along with officials from relevant public health agencies, held discussions at a meeting in Samut Sakhon Hospital to establish measures and treatment guidelines for those found with cadmium contamination from the first factory discovered in Samut Sakhon province on April 4. Initial examinations of 11 factory workers revealed cadmium presence in all 11 people, with eight exceeding the standard threshold. The remaining eight people are currently undergoing examination. Public health authorities have prepared to conduct body examinations for residents living near the first factory. This not only serves as a health check for the residents but also aims to collect data to assess the risk for those outside the factory area who may have been exposed to cadmium. File photo : Chef Daniel Sancho Bronchalo//AP Koh Samui – The murder trial of a famous Spanish actor’s son opened Tuesday on a popular Thai tourist island, where he will face charges of killing another foreigner. Chef Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, 29, pleaded not guilty at a hearing in November to the murder of 44-year-old Colombian plastic surgeon Edwin Arrieta Arteaga on the nearby Koh Pha Ngan island. The trial opened Tuesday on the honeymoon isle of Koh Samui, with scores of Spanish reporters flying in — despite being barred from the tiny courtroom. Sancho’s father, well-known Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho, arrived at court shortly after 8:30 am (0130 GMT). “He is fine,” he said, declining to answer any further questions. Lawyer Juan Gonzalo Ospina Serrano, representing Arrieta’s family, said outside court ahead of the trial they hoped that “Thai law will be forceful, that the truth can be told”. “We hope that the family can close this painful stage of their life and that they can begin their mourning,” he said.
