Brutal Husband Ambushes and Buries Wife Alive, Police Investigate Gruesome Murder
In a shocking incident, a vicious husband ambushed his wife, buried her alive, and callously murdered his own daughter. The heartless man had a history of cruelty, showing no remorse for providing for his family and resorting to heinous acts. On January 8th, Lieutenant General Sombat Sombatthaya, Deputy Chief of Provincial Police Region 5, received a report of a suspected homicide near the outskirts of Nong Pho Village, Moo 5, Waeng Nang District, Maha Sarakham Province, reported Daily News. Authorities rushed to the scene, where they discovered a large, deep pit approximately 1 meter deep and 2 meters wide. The victim's body, wrapped in bedding, lay face down, wearing a red shirt and shorts, with multiple bruises visible. The deceased was identified as Miss Daraporn Pholsri, a 30-year-old rescue worker from Waeng Nang District. Her mother reported her missing earlier in the day, prompting the investigation. Disturbingly, the crime scene suggested signs of a struggle, with a broken lock on the door and bloodstains throughout the house. Picture: Daily News Mr. Charoen Pholsri, the victim's 54-year-old father, revealed that his daughter had been in a tumultuous relationship with her husband for about a year. Arguments over alcohol, finances, and household responsibilities were frequent, but the husband never contributed to domestic duties. Despite warnings from her family, Daraporn stayed with him, and her father now pleads for the husband to surrender, condemning the brutal and senseless murder. Medical experts believe Daraporn was buried alive, as evidenced by signs of asphyxiation. The police are intensifying their efforts to locate the fugitive husband, suspecting him of the gruesome act of killing his wife and daughter. Daring Python Rescue Operation Averts Crisis at Temple
In a jaw-dropping incident, a formidable python unleashed chaos, chasing stray dogs and cats at the Mangkornmingmuang Temple in the municipality of Khlong Khud, Mueang District, Satun Province. As the unsettling situation unfolded, the temple's abbot promptly reached out to Anuwat Sumalee, the head of the local municipal vehicle operation team. Urged by the potential danger, they swiftly mobilized a rescue mission to the temple grounds where a wild python had sought refuge inside the drainage pipe, posing a serious threat to the residing monks, reported Siam Rath. Upon the arrival of the authorities, a collective gasp filled the air! A colossal python, measuring an impressive 5-6 meters in length, had entangled itself within the drainage pipe, rendering escape seemingly impossible. Picture: Siam Rath Anuwat Sumalee detailed that the temple staff had reported the python, and it became evident that the snake, unable to navigate the confined space, had sought shelter within the temple's drainage system. Through a synchronized effort involving five individuals, the team successfully extracted the python after nearly 20 minutes of utilizing power tools to cut open the drainage pipe. Sumalee revealed that the temple had been grappling with the mysterious disappearance of stray dogs and cats. The discovery of the python shed light on the cause, as the creatures had likely fallen prey to the colossal serpent. Picture: Siam Rath Luckily, the vigilant monks remained unharmed, ensuring the safe relocation of the python to the restricted wildlife sanctuary of Nong Plak Phraya and Khao Raya Bansa, Satun Province. This successful intervention not only preserved the delicate balance of nature but also showcased the dedication of the rescue team in the face of a perilous python predicament. Operators of all entertainment spots throughout the country are officially cautioned to never play music so loud and boisterous that it may ruin public peace in their neighbourhood otherwise they could probably be ordered by the authorities to close for as long as five years, Sutthipong said today (Jan.8). Operating licences for any entertainment places, including those legally allowed to open until 4 a.m. in Bangkok, Chonburi, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui Island and Phuket, could probably be revoked by law if those venues fail to comply with the Ministry of Interior’s regulations pertaining to events of loud noise. PM complains about Thai Central Bank’s decision to increase policy rate
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has expressed his disagreement with the decision of the Bank of Thailand to raise its policy rate, arguing that it is excessively high in comparison to the steadily falling inflation observed over the past several months. The central bank’s Monetary Policy Committee unanimously voted to raise the policy rate to 2.50 last September and that rate was reconfirmed in November. The committee is due to meet again in February. The prime minister said today that he holds regular consultations with the central bank about the policy rate and does not agree with the current rate adding, however, that the central bank governor is the person with the authority to alter the rate. The prime minister also said that he has instructed the Commerce Ministry to ensure that the prices of farm products do not drop further, because that would adversely farmers. High travel costs and weak flight capacity challenge Thailand’s domestic tourism targets
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) revealed that the government’s target of accruing 1.08 trillion baht (US$30.9 trillion) in revenue from domestic tourism this year may be challenging to achieve due to high travel costs and weak flight capacity. Glazer family 'set to snub Sir Bobby Charlton's funeral with Man United's owners fearing abuse from fans could overshadow the service', and other top stories from November 13, 2023. The target set by the TAT for the domestic market is 200 million trips this year, matching the 2019 levels. However, last year, the domestic tourism industry could only manage 185 million trips, generating just over 900 billion baht (US$25.8 billion), said Somradee Chitchong, the Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing at TAT. “To mark a full recovery, seat capacity on flights has to improve to 46.5 million from 36.5 million recorded last year, while economic conditions should be more upbeat than in 2023.” Somradee also highlighted that increased airfare costs, particularly for last-minute bookings, coupled with the country’s delayed fiscal budget, pose significant challenges this year, reported Bangkok Post. by Alex Morgan Photo courtesy of iStock Full story: The Thaiger 2024-01-08 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
