  5. The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms across 41 provinces today. Northern and northeastern regions are expected to be the hardest hit, with 80% of these areas expected to experience heavy rainfall. This downpour may lead to sudden flooding, posing danger to residents, particularly those residing in mountainous areas, near water flow paths and in low-lying areas. The capital city of Bangkok is also not spared. This weather condition is due to a moderate monsoon trough passing over the northern region and upper Laos, entering a trough of low atmospheric pressure over upper Vietnam. Concurrently, a moderate southwest monsoon is prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Such conditions continue to cause thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in some areas. The Meteorological Department advises residents in the affected areas to be wary of dangers from heavy rain and accumulated rainfall that may cause sudden flooding and forest runoff. Especially for areas on the slopes near the water flow and low-lying areas, they should also be cautious when travelling through areas with thunderstorms during this period. For those in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand, wave heights are expected to reach 1-2 metres and over 2 metres in thunderstorm areas. Boat operators in these areas are urged to navigate with caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms. The weather forecast for Thailand from 6am today to 6am tomorrow reveals that the northern region will experience thunderstorms in 80% of the area, with heavy rain in some places in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Sukhothai, Phichit, Nan, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun provinces. The lowest temperature is 23-25 degrees Celsius, the highest is 31-34 degrees Celsius, and the wind speed varies between 10-20 kilometres per hour. by Nattapong Westwood Photo by NOAA on Unsplash -- The Thaiger 2023-09-12 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 11. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) experienced a slight decline yesterday as the newly elected government‘s policy statement failed to impress investors. Analysts have raised concerns about the lack of specific timelines and the feasibility of implementing these policies. The Srettha Thavisin administration’s key policies include a 10,000 baht digital wallet to stimulate domestic demand, energy price reductions, tourism promotion, and debt relief for struggling farmers and small businesses. The digital wallet initiative, scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2024, aims to increase economic growth to potentially 5% in 2024, up from this year’s projected 2.8%. However, the stock market’s response to the policy announcement was largely neutral, indicating that analysts remain sceptical. “The policy statement still lacks clarity in terms of budget allocation and the timeframe of implementation,” noted ASL Securities in a recent research note. by Alex Morgan TOP: Thailand's Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin reads the policy statement at parliament in Bangkok, Thailand, Monday, Sept. 11, 2023. 14. In a surprising turn of events, a daughter's hilarious review of her father's online purchase of "fake teeth" with 32 teeth has left everyone in stitches. This incident serves as a cautionary tale, especially for the elderly who use smartphones and encounter various internet advertisements that may seem too good to be true, reported Daily News. One such ad promoted the miraculous qualities of these fake teeth, claiming they were as good as real, even capable of biting into apples. However, upon delivery, disappointment reigned as the product did not match the advertised quality, leaving many people falling victim to this deceptive marketing. Recently, TikTok user @waw22148 posted a video that had viewers bursting into laughter. It showed her father secretly ordering these fake teeth online, only to find out that they did not fit properly. The post garnered both sympathy and laughter simultaneously. The uploader commented, "I've seen others review these teeth, but I never expected my own father to fall for it. Don't let the elderly play around with smartphones. My dad just wanted whiter teeth and a full set of 32." After this viral post, the internet community flooded in with comments, many sharing similar experiences and offering humorous suggestions, such as getting free dentures from the hospital or opting for realistic-looking fake teeth. It's a reminder that sometimes laughter is the best response to life's unexpected quirks. -- ASEAN NOW 2023-09-12 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 20. Two prominent online shopping platforms have removed coffee products from their listings after facing backlash for disregarding cultural sensitivity. Thailand's Ministry of Culture initiated actions against the sale of certain coffee products by issuing a set of requirements for selling. Lazada, one of the platforms, has complied by taking three key actions: removing the offending products, blocking related search terms, and canceling pending orders. They are also implementing additional detection systems to prevent the sale of inappropriate items in the future, reported Thai Rath. This move came in response to public complaints regarding the improper marketing of coffee products on these platforms. Customers expressed concerns about the disregard for Thai culture and ethics, as well as misleading product information. Due to complaints raised, the Ministry of Culture initiated an inquiry into the matter, as certain items lacked transparent details concerning their source, manufacturing, and compliance with Food and Drug Administration regulations, potentially resulting in penalties. They found that the sale of coffee products on the platforms was inappropriate and not aligned with Thai values. As a result, they took actions to ensure cultural respect in online marketing. Lazada has taken the lead, and other platforms selling similar products are expected to follow suit, pending further updates. In the meantime, one of the coffee sellers, "Lung Jun," has been removed from both Lazada and Shopee platforms, with their products no longer available for sale. These actions aim to promote cultural awareness and responsible marketing practices in online commerce.
