  1. It seems that we must do this 1 hour elearning thing, before when we are going to renew our thai driving licenses.

I do the elearning at the computer with fiber connection to the internet, it worked without problems, it takes around 1 hour and there is an easy 3 question test, after you pass the test, you must print out a proof that you pass the test and bring with to the DLT office.

Compared to my DLT office, it looks that your DLT office is very helpfull.

My DLT office will only handle driver license issues if you have a thai ID and can make appointment on their appointment app.

  2. I am going to change from 2 til 5 year, my 2 year is expired at august.

I am trying to change at an office in north Thailand, so not Pattaya, but maybe the same problems.

I had got a lot of different answers, about it should be possible, as a farrang, to change driver license or if it is legal to still use the expired driver license. One thing is for sure, the office is still working with driver license issues at Thais. The other day I go there and asked for what to do, they tell me I must make an appointment at their appointment app, but this is only working with thai ID numbers, I tell them that problems, then they show me the door and said farrang can not change expired licence and they dont know when it will be possible.

I did not feel comfortable with this situation. I remember there was a kind of ID number on the vax papers i got, I tried to use this 13 digit number at the appointment app and it worked, I have now maked an appointment at 27 september, it will be interesting to see if they will change the farrang license now. I will let you know what happends.

Unlike in the UK where you only have one driving licence, and it shows all the classes of vehicle that you can drive. Here in Thailand the the car and motorbike licences are two separate ones. So you will need to apply for a motorbike licence. If you have an International Driving Permit you can use that to avoid some parts of the motorcycle tests for said licence.

    Thanks Phetphet

I converted my international driving permit to a private thai car driving license, 2 years ago, now its time to renew, so could be time to make a motorbike permit to, think best way to go on is to contact a training school.

  4. I get an offer on a 150 cc Honda Phantom, as I like as a start.

It was not my plan to get more motorbikes than the smaller 125 cc honda we have, and only use locally, and never get stopped. But I find out I like the motorbike driving, not fast driving more the driving on the small roads out in the nature.

So then I will get away from our local area and then things must be legal to go on the big roads.

Now I only have the private car driving license, is that legal to drive a 150 cc motorbike ?

  5. My wife have ordered and paid 2 moderna shots at Tonburri (THG) , but we are not sure when it will be ready to get in her shoulder, so today she get a sinopharm shot, just to give her some protection in the waiting time for Moderna. Sinopharm is to buy and get at some private hospitals.

She dont want the sinovac and is not very happy about sinopharm, but it had to be better than nothing.

  6. The problem is what kind of vaccines you get. The chinese sino.... is not accepted in many europe countries, then you maybe will need to get vax again if you get sino..... vax and maybe go to qurantine etc.

There is some talks about if the thai produced Astra Zeneca will be accepted in Europe, but it is a license production in Thailand with quality control from Astra Zeneca, it should be close to be the same as the Astra in UK.

You are sure to get accept of Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson everywhere.

  7. Yesterday I get my first Pfizershot given trough expatvac.

I want to thanks the american people and the Biden administration for their generous Pfeizer donation, it shows the western values, when they are best, not only taking care of their own nationalities, but helping all expats in the country. That shows the difference between western values and the asia values, thinking of another big country in asia, who only take care of their own people, giving vax to their own people in Thailand. Good to get a reminder, not to forget what we must be proud of (our western values).

After more than a year with covid and no serious ways to get a vax, with many fake promissies, it was refreshing to see the foreign ministry take ower the registration and work to get the Pfizervacc distributed, finally we get seroius informations, ok with small technical problems, but not because they want to make it difficult, I think, I think they were making an registration app for very small money, but it seems to work in the main lines. Yesterday I come as the first forreigner, to the province hospital, with thousands of thais who want their vacc. After a little confusion at the hospital administration people, they found all the expatvac info and send me to the room where I got the shot together with some thai doctors and nurses.

I also want to send a big thanks to the hospital staff, they working under big pressure from thousands of local people who want vax. They still work professional and take good care of the situation. I have some small conversations with them and they all tell, they would like to have Pfizer or Moderna for them selves and the thai people, but they know it is only a dream. I became a little shamefull, me a pensioneer living at the end of the ricefields, can get better and faster vax than help care people who run a big Covid risk every day. I wish better for the thai people.

    Thanks

  8. Everybody must get vaccinated, with quality vaccines. The delta variant is so aggressive that herd immunity will not be actual before around 90% of the population is quality vaccinated.

They can not keep the Delta variant down with social distancing etc, when it is lao kao time, the thais forget every thing about social distancing etc.

  9. Hear nothing from expatvax. Think they could not keep their fingers away from the Pfizer, to the expats, think some hiso or uniformed people are happy to get unexpected pfizer.

I was offered sinovac at the amphur, the other day, not from Expatvac, but from my many times knocking on the Amphur door, but I said no thanks.

I will get to much problems with the chineese vac, bad protection, no knowledge to it in my homecountry in europe, that will mean I will be treated like a nonvaccinated and then maybe I will not get homecountry vax because they are afraid of the mix with the chinese vax, because they do not have enough documentation about the chinese vax.

There was a lot of elderly thais at the Amphur, they accept the sino... they look happy to get it, maybe I am wrong, I hope not.

A nurse at the amphur told me, she will try to get astra  for me, I will see what happends, in the last end I have registrated and paid for Moderna at oct, but hard to believe they can keep their fingers away from this too.

I'm unclear on how the vaccinations will help on the travel front. If you are vaccinated and can still contract and transmit covid when and why would they remove the quarantine period and ease travel restrictions?

It's the travel restrictions that are stopping tourists and the quarantines that put people off, whats the difference between being vaccinated and carrying / transmitting covid or not being vaccinated and transmitting / carrying covid.

Okay it eases the burden on the health facilities but each country at the moment seems to be trying to head towards eradication which looks pretty out of reach at this point in time.....

I am not talking about the chinese vaccines, I am talking about the good mrna vaccines which give you some protection against the covid - delta etc and if you get attached you will mainly only get a infection like a flu, that would be good enough for me to travel at, still you can go free around in the nothern provinces by car.

All this crazy situation in the country, can only change to the better by vax with good vaccines to all people. What is going on now is only making the situation more and more bad, in the morning a thai doctor said he was affraid half of the population will be attached in 3 month, if nothing changes, understood that the only is vax.

Ok many thing is closed now, so you must look good around when you make your travel plans, but still there is many options, specially if you not are going for the biggest tourist things.

  11. Some weeks ago I was happy to registrate at the expatvac, the site worked ok with small problems, but get a confirmation that I was the registrated with succes on mail. The site maked daily updates on how many expates who have maked registrations and what kind of risk groups etc. every thing looks serious. They even tell us that they would begin to send vax appointments out to expats from 9th of august.

Every day I am looking at my mail, sms etc but ......... nothing from expatvac and now there is nothing news anymore from expatvac.

Is it only me who do not have the luck with expatvac ? I am over 60, should be in some of the risk group, I am living outside the bangkok area in the north. where the birds and the ricefields is endning.

Well, today is the 11th and Minister Anutin said the approved persons on expatvac should be getting a notice by now.

Have any of you who received an approved notice via e-mail received further instructions?  I've been watching my e-mail and SMS like a hawk but no joy.

Today it is the 12 th, and still no sms or email from expatvac with vax time/ info. I am over 60 and living outside Bangkok area.

The expatvac site is very quiet now, before they where making daily updates on expat numbers etc, but now silence...

Is it just going to be another scammy vax site, like all the others `?

  13. Thumbs up for this registration, small technical problems, but seems to work and first time to get a confirmation, seems they want this registration to be serious.

Now must wait and see, if they can fellow up with vax appointments around in the country.

If they come with vaxappointments the next question will be what wax they can/will offer: Astra, Pfizer or ChinaSino....

I read that the danish serum institute have maked some studies, that shows it is ok to mix Atra and  Pfizer/Moderna, this institute should be close to political independent.

If every thing will work I am ready to take a first shot of Pfizer or Astra, second shot I will fight for must be Pfizer/Moderna
