Okay so do you have meters in the property ?
Secondly where do you go to get Broadband? Is it not unlimited broadband?
Do you need a bank account to open a broadband account ?

Guys we are in Thailand, with my partner and 3 kids (all under 10).
We have arrived and stayed in an airbnb. We qualified for visa exemption. We plan to get an extension in the coming days for another month. Before we get our education visas.
However, i now keep hearing about TM30 ?! What on the dog feacal matter is this ?! Will my airbnb host have registered me ?!
My question is i don't think the owner of the airbnb has ever asked about my children? Have they been registered with a TM30 ?!

So we are new to renting in Thailand.
In the UK, when i move into a property - i take a picture of the meter readings, i compare gas and electric companies and sign up a contract with them depending on who has a better deal. Broadband pretty much the same.
How do things work here in Thailand? Do you have a list of companies and rates to compare? Or do you just sign up with anyone? When do you get the bill, do you pay by a direct debit or do you get a bill and then go to pay ?
How do you go about getting broadband ?

I noticed on my new rental agreement, that i have to report to the landlord if i go on holiday. I believe this is for TM30 reasons.
Can anyone clarify this issue for me? Does my landlord register my TM30, and let's say i go to Hong Kong for a few days and then return what are the consequences?
Just a headache all this !

Hello guys, love this website, just so invaluable.
Quick question, i am applying for an education visa for my child in the UK, to study at a school in Chiang Mai. We have all the letters and relevent information.
Just a few quick questions if anyone can help -
The visa is listed as "Non-Immigrant Type ED (To study in a basic education level (elementary, primary, and secondary school, or to study in a short course (Thai or English language) - single entry only)"
I have a few bizarre questions regarding this :
I take it this visa is only for 3 months. What happens after that? We are paying massive fees for the school, and this all seems rather risky to not have a valid visa beyond 3 months.
The visa says single entry. As we plan to travel abroad during the first 3 months, does that mean my child's visa will be cancelled ?!
I hope someone can give some guidance on this!
There's also some rather strange questions on the form guidance saying we need to provide evidence of
- Financial evidence e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party
- Confirmation of legal residence in the UK or Ireland
How does a child provide financial evidence, or confirmation of legal residence (other than passport?).
Just soul destroying going through this.

Its very strange how the number of recoveries seems to match the number of new positives found in quarantine day after day from what i have seen .
Foreigners coming equipped with 100,000 dollar insurance policies is ripe for picking.
Someone has to keep these hospitals afloat.

I guess this will only be for farang visitors, can't see the Chinese visitors agreeing to to the 14 days plus wrist bands ............LOL
Then the Chinese will have to do 14 day isolation on their return back to China.

I imagine it's a mighty sight easier than shield the 67,000,000 population
Shielding the entire population is easy. You just tell them to stay at home.
Splitting the population up into groups is what you suggest. Answer the question - how do you propose on doing this?
Few scenarios - my friend, over 65, lives with her son and daughter in law. 2 grandchildren. Do we just throw her on a island?
Second scenario - care homes. Who goes and looks after the elderly?
Third scenario - are old people not to go out and buy food, or have any form of social life?
I am just curious as to how you propose to isolate 30% of the population.
Of course you won't answer - because you just cannot do that.

Absolute economic terrorism.
I picked up 2 things from his speech.
1. They stated about 10 people were going into hospital per 100,000 in the 20-60 bracket. New York had published figures somewhere like 90% of hospitalizations were due to obesity or previous conditions. So basically 2 healthy 20 to 60 years old being admitted per 100,000 people !! Madness. The bulk of all hospitalizations and deaths were 74-100.
Basically if the old , infirm, obese stayed home, the rest could get on with life with precautions. The old and fat are filling the hospitals, not the young and fit. 75,000 people are dying from missed cancer screenings for the sake of average 82 years old deaths from covid.
This economic terrorism is destroying the lives of the young. It probably won't effect me , I own my home, my annuities are guaranteed and state UK pension is looming soon, but the young will be paying for this debacle for the next 20 years at the expense of their lives and housing.
2. It was stated that at the start of December the likelihood was that deaths would be the same as the peak of the Spring in the UK. If anyone - ANYONE - thinks that they will open for x-mas with at the peak of deaths they are deluded. UK will NOT be open by X-mas, be lucky by February.
How do you propose in shielding some 25 odd million people ?

I did think about boots but was not sure if it is the same one as the embassy requires. In an idea world it would be good to get the fit to fly certificate from the same place but I know that might not be possible in the circumstances.
The BOOTS test is not a PCR test which is what is required.
Your major problem will be airlines - unless you are going to take Thai repatriation flights (which are horrifically hard to get hold off), you may be left with nothing. At the moment you have Emirates, Qatar, but if they chose not to fly into the UK during the period you are left with nothing.
I doubt this lockdown will last a month. Infact i believe restrictions on flights will be for a long time.

What hospitals are over filling in Europe? Where did you get this idea?
Many cities - Paris, Northern UK cities are seeing intensive care unit beds filling up.
Manchester UK - covid cases some of the highest per 100,000 in the world. Hospitals are filling up, and if the curve continues they predict they will run out of intensive care beds very soon.
You forgot the scenes in Italy back in March - where they had people lying on floors in hospitals? Italy has one of the most advanced health care systems in the world and was bought to it's knees in some regions.
Thailand has never had these scenes in any of their public hospitals. Whilst it's not the only indicator, it is one example of why you can assume that the virus has not hit Thailand very hard. So whilst you may keep up your conspiracies of 'Thailand aren't testing', 'Loads of Covid in Thailand' - other than a conspiracy you have no evidence.
A more pertinent question would perhaps by how on earth did it escape the full effects of the virus?

Thailand has a hot climate, and in Europe during summer the hospitals were empty as well. It is a false narrative to always claim that the hospitals in Europe were full of dying people all the time. The Covid deaths per day in Europe were around 10 per country during summer.
I agree that now in autumn the numbers in Europe are growing. This only confirms the impact of the climate, and nobody should neglect that when comparing countries.
It is quite likely that the situation in Thailand is similar to Europe during summer time, but with very few testing one will never know. But 10 deaths per day with a diagnosis on pneumonia hardly would cause a lot of publicity.
And also it is quite clear that European tourists, if tested negative, would not pose a big danger when arriving to Thailand, as the Thai climate helps to prevend a spread of the virus even if one is tested false negative.
I spend alot of time in Florida and India .... the hot climates aren't helping them. Sure they may contribute, but it's not the overriding reason.

If you watch a few videos of those in quarantine - they are mixing up close with staff and workers in the hotel after their 5/6th day in quarantine and first negative test.
The whole point of a quarantine is you remain away from the population for a period of 15 days. But mixing and mingling with workers of hotels after day 5 is definately one source of a problem.

So "quite a few" has now become "many". Please enlighten me by providing a link to the many as I remember maybe 1 from the last few articles I've read.
Go research on those who have tested positive in quarantine. Someone does a daily post on it.

Spot on.....last i saw Thailand is not an island. Most definitely there is COVID in Thailand....but no one is getting tested. To quote a famous statesman tRump....if you test less; they will be less covid cases. ????
You can't hide deaths or hospitals over filling - which is what is happening in Europe.
Thailand hospitals are very quiet. If the virus was raging through the population then these hospitals would be busy.
Is there Covid cases in Thailand? Most likely ... but nothing on the level of Europe or the USA.

How many is "quite a few"? From memory of the articles posted on here, they have been tested positive on day one or day 3-5.
Nonsense. I've been following cases quite closely - many have been caught in quarantine on the 13th - 14th day (the last test).
-
Is this just a recommendation or a proposal ?
Personally ... they've caught quite a few cases around the 14 day mark, that it wouldn't make sense.

And you know that those 361 people would have died anyway do you Doctor? Are we now saying that its OK for people with 'underlying conditions' to die? Their health matters less? We should not put restrictions in place because their health doesn't matter?
There's some history in that type of thinking - a certain German 'gentleman' called Adolf had a similar mindset. Quite frankly, I'm disgusted by your point of view.
I would also advise you, not that I have any sympathy at all for that type of thinking, that you cannot rely on the term 'underlying conditions' in the way you seem to be. 'Underlying Conditions' covers a wide spectrum of health issues. I have an 'underlying condition' - its serious but I have a good few years yet. I am no more liable to die from Covid 19 than anyone else in my age group. Yet if I died from the virus, I would be classified as having and 'underlying condition'.
Brilliant post.

You claimed the UK's infection rate is one of the worst but I have already provided you with the stats that show we are ranked 39th, nowhere near the worst, not even in the top ten so yes you were lying.
Back in March and April the testing was way down. It is believed we had 100,000 infections a day at the height - hence your argument we are 39th is nonsense.
A true accurate figure is the excess death rate and the UK has one of the highest in the world.
It was squandered all that hard work and effort of lockdown, by opening up with no measures in place. How idiotic was that? LETS JUST OPEN and the virus will have gone type idiotic thinking. There is no effective track and trace system. We paid 12 billion for a glorified call centre asking people to politely stay at home. Most ignore these requests.
Go look at track and trace systems in Korea, Singapore, Japan, now even India - active boots on the ground (not tucked away in a call centre).
I simply don't get why we are keeping borders open either. We never closed our borders either, one of the few countries not to do so. I find it incredible we are seeing flights from India, USA, Brazil just arriving into the UK with a polite request to quarantine.
Had we simply locked down early, kep the borders closed, and kept up a track and trace system we could be out this mess now.

You are talking utter nonsense. Testing increased at an incredible rate considering no one knew what to expect and we have had one of the highest number of tests per million for the past 4 months or so. In fact the only countries that have done more tests per million are those with very small populations of less than 10 million people!
The UK's infection rate is 39rd in the world per million, so nowhere near the worst, might want to check your facts before spreading lies.
Deaths per 1 million population:
In the early stages we were barely testing anybody other than key workers. It is believed we were having 100,000 infections a day at this point.

Bloody hell 367 deaths today. Horrific.
As for excess deaths, the UK has one of the highest excess death rates in the world this year.
