I don´t understand the maths. 1,000 people per day = 200 per destination. Let´s say 3 countries are on the list and they fly from 3 different airports per country to the 5 destinations.
200 : 9 = 22,22 passengers per flight
What airline would do this? Or the ticket prices must be crazy high.
It's solely for China. Probably.

But they still remain on the list for a 14 day quarantine.
Meaning you can go to Vietnam and return no problem. But if you come back from Thailand you have to do 14 days quarantine.
Why would Vietnam make the list and not Thailand?

The UK announcement does not take effect for a week. Expect reciprocal announcements from the other countries soon — otherwise, what aircraft are going to fly from them into the UK if they have to return empty?
This only works if the agreements are bilateral.
You are confused. These aren't bilateral agreements. The government ditched that, and instead simply published a list of countries that are safe to travel to for now and in the immediate future.

It is because travel corridors/bubbles require reciprocal agreement.
Thailand refused to agree to reciprocal travel rights for travelers from the UK, so game off.
Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand have given no rites to UK travellers. This isn't a list of reciprocal destinations, but rather where the UK gov deems it's safe to go to, and you don't have to return with a quarantine period.
Not putting Thailand on the list is just bizarre.
This will make it extremely tough to get travel insurance.

It's not just the quarantine period, it's the insurance issues travelling without FCO permissions that will cause issues.
UK not adding Thialand but adding Vietnam is bizarre. On Twitter it is suggested because the country will be having a high concentration of Chinese tourists soon that is causing concern.
Final nail in the Thailand holiday for coffin for me

They are going about this entry requirement for COUNTRIES all wrong.
They need to look at INDIVIDUALS...not countries.
1. Allow retirees in. With the following
2. Require a covid test prior to departure from the particular country.note 2 million USA test positive but some 320 million people NOT.
3. Require Quarantine two weeks upon arrival with another covid test.
Blanket statements against countries or peoples is inappropriate.
Let me guess your a retiree.
Let the young people in. They are less effected by the virus.

Not even New Zealand has been free of Covid 19 for 60 days.
So what countries exactly qualify? Australia, China, Japan have all had outbreaks.

Will local residents be allowed off the islands?
It's a major flaw. Local's mixing with the unwashed, how would they then return to the mainland ?

What sort of business?

Have China even said they will allow their citizens to leave ?
Disgraceful if true. True kick in the face to the world.

"Letting tourists in" would negate all the efforts made by the Thai people over the past 3 months. I sincerely hope that the government will see that tourism in Thailand as we have known it will not come back any time soon, and that they very little control over this situation. But this should be an opportunity to get rid of of all the cheap, dodgy and sleazy components of the inglorious past. And to do so, without a major uprising, they'll have to come up with a plan to assist and re-train several million people.
If i was in Thailand now, i would think the exact same way. It's a uptopia rite there now. No virus, no Chinese tourists, and a superstar in tourist areas where there are no tourists.Unfortunately the economy will mean they will have no choice but to open. The economy will shrink, and all those shiny new helicopters, military stock they love to buy won't be able to bough (oh and any health spending, education, social service they spend on). And not to mention the huge loss of jobs.
Let's hope they can open up in a safe way. The last thing anyone wants is Thailand to open back up to mass tourism and let the virus run rife in Thailand.

If Thailand is rife with the Virus it won't so appealling.

Being an elderly person can say ......... not in this life.
You want a vaccine, you take it, no need to force one on me, I'll take my chances.
The odd thing about pro-vaccination people.
If you're confident the vaccine works, and does no harm, why do you insist on me having it too?
If you are an 80 + year old, with some pre exisiting conditions, and you refuse the vaccine on the ground in 20 years time you may develop abnormal pubic growth, or an extra toe then so be it. Don't think anyone will be forced.

No way I'm getting something injected into me till it's been proven to be safe by millions of other people getting it first without side effects.
Rushed medications tend to be unsafe medications.
It would be given to elderly, and to those vulnerable to the virus - the benefits to loss of a vaccine with possible untold long term side effects would be worth it for the elderly.

Herd immunity doesn't work . Already is known that you only got antibodies for 2-3 months .
Not true. Research is still ongoing on the matter. But the most conclusive research has suggested once you develop antibodies you won't get the virus again. Unless that is the virus mutates differently. Of course you get those big headlines saying you can still catch the virus again. I'll be interested to know of any known cases of someone catching the virus twice (not the nonsense media nonsense about the guy from China catching it twice, when it turned out he hadn't fully recovered in the first place).
Most of the vaccines being developed, are using the mantra to create antibodies in your system.

You have to remember immigration works both ways. There will be an elite in Thailand, business people, middle class who will want to travel to the EU, America (eventually) be it business or pleasure.

We're all frustrated.
We're all angry that they appear that our own country appears to being ignored, at the expense of those we blame for the virus.
But get on with it. Apart from a small minority online who would love to go back, the general public are not going to be travelling in mass to Thailand anytime soon. The likelyhood of Chinese citizens flowing back into Thailand on MASS is utterly ridiculous, and the Chinese themselves won't allow it.
You also have to remember Thailand seems attractive rite now, because it has very little of the virus in the country by some miracle. However, as soon as they open up, be it South Korea, Japan, or China the virus will return. And when you have cases in Thailand, it suddenly won't seem an attractive proposition anymore. There will be no shiny European free health care there if you do come down with the virus.
However, It's simply not possible for any country to close it's borders. For all New Zealand's bluster they have closed their borders, eventually they will have to open up and the virus will return. It will be the same for South Korea who are about to let thousands of US troops enter their borders (they have no choice). You keep your borders closed and you are heading towards a Soviet era style lockdown. The population will demand to leave - be it holiday, meet family abroad, international business will suffer, investment will fall and the economy will cripple. When economies cripple the population tend to push back.
European countries have come to the conclusion it is impossible to eradicate the virus. They will allow regional lockdowns where the virus is out of control. But the mantra to impossible attempting to eradicate the virus will wreck economies to the point the virus will do more harm than the virus. The UK for example had a horrendous 25% fall in GDP in one month ! The whole of the Eurozone is heading for a recession.
Countries dependent on tourism are going to take a horrendous hit. Thailand will face it during the high season if tourism numbers remain low.
I keep saying over and over - that it's vital countries increase their testing, testing at borders, testing everywhere and anywhere (is Thailand doing anything to increase it's labarotary testing?). Test passengers at arrival or during a quarantine period away from the mainland. Anything innovative.
It's very frustrating for everyone! But way too much emotional nonense. We on this forum love Thailand and would love to go back, and hopefully that is soon.

Utter nonsense. If the airline cancelled, they could have put him onto another flight. If not, there were plenty of other flights he could have taken.
He chose to stay. But now he's changed his mind, and wants to return home.
Utterly irresponsible.
There are many like him.

You can thank the humid weather and Thais having good vitamin D levels due to being exposed to the sun, which makes me wonder, has anyone taken down the statistics of those who were exposed to CV-19, e.g. male 50 years old, white from BKK, or male 50 years old brown skin from Issan ?
That's my take on it, besides I can't wait for Anutin to take his first jab when Thailand produces it's first cocktail, I mean vaccine, I hope it's a BIG one.......and it goes in his rear end !
Good weather and Vitamin D isn't helping Indians.
It will take years and decades, books written how Thailand escaped this pandemic. One thing for sure is the government did <deleted> all.

CHINA. CHINA. CHINA. CHINA.
Pathetic. They nearly wrecked Thailand. Allowed tourists from Wuhan to flow into Thailand, when they knew it was a dangerous epidmenic, along with failure of local government to try and cover it up. Yet they are lusted after.
If they are allowed back in on mass, that's me done with Thailand. Just no way.

I believe the Maldives have beaten just about everybody, as tourism is fully open for business, with no restrictions at all!
They did a 'Thailand' and planned to get all complicated by vetting tourists, quarantines, testing, restrictions, restrictions, and more restrictions - till they realised no one was coming. Then they saw all the loans the government has borrowed to pay for island restorations and saw an economic collapse. So they opened up.
Maldives actually would a decent place to vacation - isolated private villas.

List of ‘travel bubble’ countries finalised today ahead of Aug reopening

The minister in charge Grant Shapps tweeted the list himself. Doesn't include Thailand.
Although it's fantastic news FCO advice says it's okay to travel to Thailand. Means insurance policies will be valid.
