As I get older I'm not interested in "hate" whether those people be gay, transexual, black ,green or whatever

I go to Thailand/Asia to have a good time not to hate someone who is different from you .

Ok I would tolerate it with a younger person having those opinions but not some old codger my age who should get over it

I was in Pattaya with this Australian friend he is 76 last time where in McDonald's he proceeded to call a farang & his Thai BF a "F.....GG..t ... something I shouldn't of let go at the time .

I'm over farangs  who hate others ...the moment I hear a farang start saying negatively about someone sex preferences I'm out of there

I think your “friend” is a closeted gay like a great many homophobes, frustrated that they never could, for whatever reason, come out and live out their sexual lives as they wished. I guess the frustration grows with age as it becomes less and less possible to follow one's true nature.

Yes, I've sees this many times over the years. If someone is ripping me off I tend to make a noise, pay them if it's not overly high and then don't use them again. If I get a fair bill and what I ordered that's where the tips come in.

I'm known to be quite a generous tipper by everyone who deals with me on a regular basis and believe me, this policy always more than pays off in the long run.

I've been doing this for decades even though I come from the UK where tipping is not (or wasn't) generally much of a thing - this policy works well everywhere.

I don't go over the top, to me it's pocket change but I know it makes a difference to service people.

When I order something online from a local store, even something like a sandwich, the delivery people all know me well, I'm the guy who buys them a cheap lunch for good service - and surprisingly enough I always get good service - they tend to go the extra mile when I place an order.

If you are nice to people, people will be nice to you - as simple as that.

The real question that no one is asking is why?  Do you want to live your whole life downloading apps and presenting paperwork to do basic things?  Papers please to go eat dinner is not a world worth living in. We have been living under a system that demands you to wear a face mask while alone outside, in a car with another person (even if they are members of your household.  They forced businesses to close and continue to order you to be home by 9:00. All of this for a disease with a very very high survival rate. So when when Covid goes away what are the odds that all of these new controls will go away with it?

The problem is hospitals are overwhelmed by Covid sufferers, many of whom are unvaccinated, and other patients waiting for an operation, a transplant or regular treatment have to wait: some may die because of that. So the disease may have a high survival rate but think about this. Think also about the dedicated but overworked and overwhelmed hospital staff.

Notice how they are always blaming us? It is never about them, and their lack of policy, their failed vaccination drive, their toxic favoritism with regard to the shutdowns. Am I the only one who is tired of them always pointing the finger at us?

So, let us turn it around on them.

    1. How can you demonstrate to us, that you are up for the task of leadership? What have you done for us lately?
    2. What are you doing to prove that you can and will protect us?
    3. Instead of contact tracing us, how about we trace you, and make sure you are doing your job? How about you report to us daily, and let us know how you are handling and containing this epidemic that happened on your watch? Stop talking, and start working, and doing your jobs.
    4. Why did you not prevent this? How did you allow these corrupt officials to let infected people in? Why did you not post 100,000 soldiers on the Burmese border, when infections were spiking there, and low here? What else are these guys doing? I thought they were supposed to serve and protect the nation. What are they doing, on a daily basis? And how are they justified, if they cannot protect us?
    5. Why are you not making the vaccines more of a priority? Why isn't the army sacrificing some of its huge budget for the people?
    6. What are you planning on offering the people in the way of assistance, so they can survive this disaster you helped create?
    7. Can you demonstrate to us why you think Anutin, who has no background whatsoever in the filed of health, is up for the task of tackling this emergency?
    8. And why are you shutting down so many businesses, yet you allowed ground zero to remain open to people coming and going since this latest outbreak happened, only closing the province down yesterday? Why such bad decisions, and such extreme incompetence? How do you justify that? How do you explain that? Thousands of cases emanated from Samut province. You knew that would happen.
    9. How about a compulsory level of competence and experience, for all future administration appointments to key positions?
    10. Why have you been so hard on foreigners, making it so incredibly difficult to fly in, yet so lax on the borders?
    11. Why should we allow you to remain in power? What have you done lately to deserve that power?

    12. Are you deliberately destroying the tourism industry, in order to rebuild it, without it's nightlife? A purer image, more akin to your fake Quaker image?

    13. Why is nobody in a position of power being arrested? Why aren't heads rolling?

I suppose these are all rhetorical questions: you don't expect any answers from those clowns now, do you?

When I lived near there, I watched them work for many months building this elaborate and expensive storm runoff T-junction. There was a large underground concrete drain enclosure bunker taking all the water from beach road and from the street adjoining it at this T intersection.

The overflowing manhole cover in the middle of the intersection indicates a blockage to the enclosure from the intersecting street storm drain.  The pressure must have worked around the underground side of the costly structure, washing it away.

So glad I don't have to put up with months of construction again and traffic jams, but feel sorry for those that will be impacted by this result of poor engineering and construction.

“poor engineering and construction”? Follow the money…

Surely there has to be some misunderstanding. I mean, how could a Thai person with such a lovely, polite Wai do such a thing? ????

Here's my prediction. Seeing as this has hit social media there will be lots of talk of police reform. Joe Ferrari will have to do a (very short) stretch in a very luxurious wing of the prison. Meanwhile, judges, prosecutors, lawyers, prison directors etc. all end up with extraordinarily wealthy gardeners and Joe Ferrari comes out of prison a lot poorer than he went in, but still a very wealthy man (more of a Joe BMW).

A quite realistic scenario. A big chunk of those 600 millions is going to change pockets.

One of the biggest scandals in Thailand in recent years, and all they can recommend is delaying his pension and promotion for two years !

I know the ruling is "not final", but hard to see the Prosecution Commission over ruling it.

And all this took a year !

Shows the true face of the corrupt Thai judicial system !

As if we needed another proof!
