  1. A friend of mine recently brought his finance to the UK on the finance step of a settlement visa, they wanted to get married in the UK which they have now done, they are now in the process of applying for the FLR which in essence is the first step of a marriage settlement visa, but it's called the FLR, they will be doing this by post in the UK, has anyone gone this route already, any advice they can give, we know that the NHS surcharge has to be completed first, at the moment they are being told that the biometrics need to be completed, Mrs D (as she's now known) did all that at The Trendy Building in Bangers for the original visa - will this still be in the system or will it be required again - but in the UK?

Any advice or guidance at all will be appreciated by them.

    Thanks

  2. The process of getting the Schengen when we lived in Thailand was never free and wasn't that quick, we still had to show tickets, insurance etc and we were married in the U.K. and with kids and it still was a ball ache and as for The Portuguese embassy that was a nightmare so......now that we live in the U.K. I was wondering is it any easier and maybe, possibly about getting a 6 month multiple one (if it exists), I'm more than happy to turn up at the airport with the Mrs, our U.K. Wedding certificate and the kids and all our passports with obviously the same
surname but will there be a problem???

Has anyone got a multiple entry Schengen visa from within the U.K.??

    Thanks

  3. Hi, we live in the U.K, we moved back last year, when we were living in Thailand Mrs E had 3 Schengen visas, 2 for Spain and 1 for Portugal, on all these occasion we got the visa with a few days either side of the actual travel dates, the holidays were just a couple of weeks etc, is it possible to get a 6 month Schengen visa from anywhere, my folks have a place in Tenerife that we visited, hence the 2 Spanish visas, we live not a million miles away from Dover and have had various friends get a ferry across with their Thai Mrs and without a visa and have no problems but we would wish to fly to Spain and I don't want to have to plan the dates every time as we have kids that attend nursery and would just like to bugger off sometimes off the cuff!!

We haven't yet applied for a Schengen from within the U.K. so any advice etc would be welcome.

    Thanks

  4. Just got this back from UKVI after e-mailaing them:

'Make sure you know the date you will travel to the UK before you apply.

Your temporary visa will only be valid for 30 days once you receive it and
you will need to travel within this period. If you receive your temporary
sticker, and can’t travel during the 30 day window, you will need to
apply for a replacement. Please see the guidance below.
    It costs £122 to transfer.

Visa fee £122.00 is required to be paid by the applicant and biometric
appointment also need to be attended.

If the time is tight , applicant can purchase the priority service.
Applicant will have to add a cover letter stating travel date.
Please select the following options at the time of creating the file.
    Reason To Visit - other
    Visa Type - other
Visa Sub Type - Vignette transfer'

Do we have to wait for the original 30 day vignette to have expired before we can apply for a new one?????

    Thanks

  5. We'll be submitting Mrs E's settlement visa this week, just waiting to get paid on the 15th for the latest pay slip and we're good to go, my only niggling thought is that I can download all my official Barclays statements up until the end of August but to get the transactions from then I have to do a screen shot over a few shots/pages etc, could that be an issue, it will all match up of course and follow on??

    Thanks

    Jimmy

  6. I did our son's a couple of years ago at the same time that I did his passport, that was then at The Embassy and we received the passport and UK style birth certificate to our house about 5 weeks later, now it's at The Trendy building and they don't send the passport to your house, not sure about the certificate, I just applied for our new daughters passport and it arrived back at Trendy after 2 weeks so I assume the certificate wouldn't be much longer.
