  1. In 2018/19 I had 5 pallets of hardware (systems) coming in, they were greenlit from europe, when they arrived, the customs wanted 3mTHB to release them due to some green law where hardware (2nd) wasn't allowed into the country due to the consistent amount of electronics imported for breaking down which was damaging the environment, considering the hardware was approx 2m in value, i laughed, told them to dump it and that was the last of it, the <deleted> ended up in a landfill anyway lol. Most recent experiences has been with DHL (likewise) and I've used Amazon extensively (i've gotten smarter), I pay for the goods to have customs sorted, I had a dehumidifier coming from the US for ceiling space, about 1.2k USD anyway it had "commercial" on the box (because retail normally have them on wheels opposed to fixed) and there was a palaver, they wanted import licenses etc, after a month of me not budging and not accepting responsibility as the customs was the job of Amazon (under their terms of conditions), and their claims they couldn't or wouldn't return to the US, they gave up, Amazon contacted me, arranged a full refund and apology with an additional credit, and informed me they had 'forced the customs to return it to DHL who would in return it to the company). I also imported some toilets (US) for those I had a local marine shop, kindly have their agent get them released to me with a 35,000 THB fee (bribe), still worked out cheaper and less tedious than trying to order in country. Some times you need to bite the bullet, and other times fight the battles you can win, but these guys are <deleted> lol, so choose your battles wisely.
  2. Should have kept his mouth shut, now 10 yrs of fish head soup coming up lol
  3. Interesting, i rarely drink (unless cocktails), and i'm 10 kilos heavier over the past two yrs!
  4. I have a BMW M Sport, the wife a Evoque (range rover), probably the safest car's i've driven, was brought up with the brands, and Volvo. At the same time we have a Ranger (pickup), i wouldn't like to be in the crash in that to say the least. I think if you are going to buy a car for children in mind, you go for the strongest European brand you can find in Thailand, its not about 'status' as status is no good if you end up dead, i briefly had a Ford Sports Fiesta and was involved in a accident in that about 8yrs ago, the car was totalled from all sides. Had family friends that had honda's and the like and likewise they just crease up like a tin can. you want that structural steel reinforcement that some of the European brands (German, British, Scandinavian) put into them (over-engineering).
  5. Sounds like a state prosecution via a police filing. Theft has a rather long Statute of Limitations, trespassing compounds the offence, so provably if filed, not a chance of return within 5 yrs from the event.
  6. Law firms in NYC usually charge about 5-10k a hour as you are not paying for one individual but many (the company). Same as it appears to be the case in this post...
  7. Depending on what the perceived crime was and whether it was a private prosecution or state prosecution, will impact whether it is left to 'expire' simply because of lack of interest to pursue it. Knowing more about the alleged crime will provide an insight into the statute's that apply, and whether there's any tolling etc. I.e an initial warrant for arrest could have a statute of 1-10yr's, or even longer for more serious crimes, the usual process once apprehending the fugitive is detaining, processing, trial, prison, deported. Fortunately most of this occurs behind closed doors to save the perp the embarrassment of it all being on international news, unless you've <deleted> of the main news presenters lol If you'd be so kind to fill us in on what the perp has been accused of, and whether its a state or private prosecution then we could have some additional input. I can even ask my lawyer if he can have a check the next time he's in the court (the terminal to check is in there, it takes all of two minutes), as for immigration, that's much simpler... though what you need to have concern over, is whether the perp has been flagged on the Thai Interpol System, which they do routinely with expats that are of concern, as that is shared internationally, and even a comment about 'drugs', will have you flagged every-time you fly into a nation (as an example), that can only be checked at Immigration HQ Bangkok, and is not shared to outside IO offices, also the RTP (Royal Thai Police) don't have access to information on foreigners, their systems just show Green, Amber, Red alerts and with the division of IO they need to contact when Foreigners are involved in a alleged crime.
  8. Of-course they can, she must have had a contract, regardless of using it, and failed to honour her part of the contract, for example I have 4 True accounts which are active and never used, but i signed contracts, so I have to honour them, what makes you/her so special? Pay your bills and just be thankful to resolve this before it escalates, and the only credit she can get is for a scooter.
  9. Central has been open up until recently (back open), most other things are open except bars etc (i drink/eat in hotels/resorts/clubs mainly) so not really impacted, its been beneficial with the roads being so empty.
  10. Phuket and Samui is ok, the roads are empty and there's no waiting around. Even Bangkok is more pleasant.
  11. Advantages include the following. - No paperwork. - No dealing with immigration. - No Waiting - No Smelling Sex-Pats - No mingling with Sex-Pats - Car/Driver at airport (really convenient) -ergo you're not leaving your car there, or having to arrange/wait for transport. - Lounges keeping you away from Sex-Pats, Kids on Gap Year etc - Multiple Golf resorts rounds (more than i'll ever use). - Spa treatments (multiple) - when the neighbours try and brag about their work permits etc (i', here legally etc), its nice to say to them, ah shame, you should have done Elite you'd not have to deal with it every year. I'm sure there's many more, to be frank though its peanuts compared to what i've paid for similar (citizenship, residential etc) elsewhere and serves a purpose, i've done "Investor Visa", " Marriage Visa", "Work Permit Visa", "Tourist Visa, all had their pro's and con's, Investor Visa was pretty good as it allowed freehold ownership with the amount i threw into the country, but I grew bored of the paperwork, and "immigration still treating you as second class", now i just go in (if i need to during the covid closure of the Elite Office who normally do everything for you) and i hand them the passport and that's an end to it, they do it and bring back to you. Though its mainly because you have so many checks carried out, they don't have any suspicion when you are elite compared to others (interpol, europol, criminal, civil, bankruptcy, AML etc).
  12. You'd have thought they'd have put all those desperate hungry thais to work rebuilding all the roads.
