  1. You know they aren't even processing passports yet so just bloody well forget about it for a long long long time. This story is utter nonsense.
  2. Slip them some bhat and all your troubles will go away.
  3. ... select foreigners will get 1/16 of the price when they choose to sell.....
  4. I agree with you - but if you want to go elsewhere in Indonesia then there is so much more to see and go. Even backpackers now, the new ones don't want to live in rat trap places necessarily. All the young people that I hear talk about Bali, certainly not Thailand. Thailand isn't what it used to be and it never will again I feel. Could certainly be wrong, have been wrong in the past once or twice!
  5. I know that i'm adding to the rest, but honestly it just won't. IT's impossible. The infrastructure, sewers that smell, the rats, and everything else... it just won't happen. It's fine that they want to go that way. I disagree with it but then things change all the time. Everything does.
  6. Gentlemen, This is the nail in the coffin. Does it surprise me? It does a little. I've never seen such a bone-head move in my entire life. How low can they go? Apparently a lot lower that's for sure!
  7. Not surprising. All the money lost will have to be recouped one way or another and that means higher air fares. With the airline crisis occurring right now, it's hard to find flight crews and equipment. With pent up demand the cork has blown off the champagne. Like the initial explosion, it won't last.
  8. I think that you're busy because you are one of the few countries that has relaxed testing requirements and understandably so. There are few places that are open like the UK. When the rest of the world opens, let's see what happens. It's an interesting time in the travel industry that's for sure!
  9. I agree if you have the money to do it. Let's face it, Chinese are not coming back for at least another five years. They still are not renewing passports and when they do (if they do!), the que will take years and years to get them out in a timely manner. I think it would be very interesting to see it right now.
  10. Even people who were dropped on their heads as infants realize that Thailands, nay, the worlds demographic of holiday makers is never going to be the same. The volume won't be there and people can pretend to be in a high class place with stinky sewers and rats abounding. IT's ok though, and I"m not bashing Thailand. It had its charms.
  11. Many thanks for taking the time to type your answer. Inflation is very complicated and someone like myself struggles to understand the fundamentals. It seems as though its mostly oil and goes down the food chain, so to speak. You can't do anything without oil and wages are going up too. They have to! I feel it but honestly I think about others like the poor and worry about them a great great deal.
  12. Hey thanks for the tip daddy LOL!
  13. I feel you are correct. It is so expensive to fly now and it's a gargantuan hassle. Im not interested in travel right now - it's too stressful.
  14. Things to look for driving growth: - pent up demand. Look for a surge of tourists who waited and waited for many reasons who suddenly come in - inflation. Difficulty opening up fast enough and prices going up as a result - high prices for flights. It's no secret that flights will rise significantly due to supply constraints and staffing It will come back but it won't be the way you have known it and it will not be as dramatic as it was. China is not coming back right now!
  15. I cannot agree with you enough. There is pent up demand, but let me assure you friends, it won't last. Tourism is not what it used to be.
  16. Hey, I remember those beg-packers. Wow, it seems like a lifetime ago doesn't it? If anyone travels without travel insurance anywhere, they are playing with fire and yes they should never be admitted to any country.
  17. Honestly I think it already has gone back. The tourism industry is full of elderly people who are going out "one last time" and not a lot of others doing it. I fear that tourism will not recover. This has no basis for an outlook for thailand however. I have no idea the dynamics of that place. Tourism there is very strange. I will say this - China will not be back like it was before. No chance, no way, not happening. It's the one time that I was right was this prediction. China does not necessarily want its citizens travelling around anymore from a governmental level. They aren't even renewing passports right now. I give them five years plus till something changes with Chinas outgoing tourism.
  18. The poor are getting poorer all over the world. Until inflation is tamed there will be significant pain.
