  1. I know it's funny to look at one individual but to put this in now is really strange. Right now tourism dollars are hard to come by and people are begging for tourists to (safely) come travel. Honestly, we have opened here fully to vaccinated tourists and the tourist numbers are pathetic. It's not even five percent of what it should be! People are just not interested in travel so much. Again, I ask that you stop considering your personal situation and look at the grand scheme of things. It is simply not happening. I can personally guarantee you that airline tickets will be very expensive in the future too.
  2. Whereas it doesn't really affect you, on a grand scale it very much affects the tourism industry.
  3. I"m not going right now anyways, so no big deal, LOL! I know where the money won't be going. I believe the intended people mentioned won't see .01c of it.
  4. Have. You. Ever. Been. To..... Thai.... Land? This is every day. Every single day. Every. Single. Day.
  5. You're asking the impossible. They most definetly will not. ????
  6. Oh boy, a news headline that is an anti-vexers wet dream! ???? It's too early to say but most likely it will be around long after we're all inoculated and will morph like a flu. Many non doctors will blather the same blather that we've all known for ages. They're not sure, but like most Thais, if your'e right, wrong, or in the middle it doesn't matter as long as you say it and pretend you didn't really say it later on. You are still smert (sic).
  7. That is not an issue world wide. They say that a longer wait between vaccines is a good thing. Unless it's the chinese one. Then your results may vary. Wildly.
  8. If you believe what the Thai government says about quarantines, timelines, and promises might I re-affirm my assertion that you have been dropped on your head several times too many as an infant? I agree, there are plenty of better places to go - for probably the same amount of money too! The prices for quarantine hotels, overpriced this, overpriced that, certain insurance from a certain country, etc etc etc adds up. No, I wouldn't travel to Thailand right now. No way.
  9. Of course not. You would have to have a ton of money and time to go on a care free vacation to Thailand right now. Full stop. If weeks of your life when you get home mean nothing while you quarantine, then you're fine I guess.
  10. Oh how the mighty have fallen, LOL! Before you could beg, plead, do whatever, you must go and come back. Now look at them. This is desperation. Pure and simple..
  11. What happens when Chinese go back into their country is incredible. The amount of hoops one must go through is insane. Last I heard quarantine was three weeks! And it's true, if your passport has expired they aren't really issuing new ones. I would only hazard a guess that chinese won't be travelling for 3-4 years from now. And even then, that seems like a pipe dream.
  12. Why do they advertise live music? Live music in Thailand has always been a horror show. It was like screaming cats and base ad nauseam.
  13. Well I know that Thailand's tourism industry is full of something. Enough written on that.
  14. Third world countries (and I can rightly put Thailand right back into third world status, well maybe 3 plus) don't understand tourism or what expectations will be. Take the case of Nepal - they had climbers on everest this year. The airport shut down, and they just said "well, they can charter a plane". That's a huge undertaking which takes money, time, effort, but to people who don't understand that people back home have big bills to pay too don't have money for this either. They view foreigners as huge money pits and if they don't like it then there's lots more behind them. IT's no big deal. Just something to ponder when travel does eventually open up again world wide. We are nowhere near it right now, maybe next year there will be better opportunities.
  15. Even if they did open the headlines around the world was Thailand's health care was crumbling. They could have flung the doors open it would not have worked. I agree with nearly everyone here - these businesses will have a tremendously difficult time opening up. And so many will simply never open again. It wouldn't surprise me if nearly all of Thailand's english went down by 50 percent with the lack of english people to practice with. This year will be a complete and utter write-off, as it has been till this point. This isn't anything that everyone doesn't already know.
  16. Indeed the Chinese will NOT be coming anytime soon. May as well go for it - nobody else will come. Indians will be desperate to leave that covid filled land.
  17. It's absolute trash the "re-opening". There was one person who went and said it was so not worth it. And little wonder. What are you going to do, go tour around and see all the closed restaurants? NO, stare at the beach for 14 days. I'd go nuts if I had a vacation like that.
  18. The what if question also apply to when you get home - if you get home - if you test positive and need that to re-enter your country - what will happen if I do, will work accept that I will be away for 10 days or whatever to isolate - is it worth it for the insurance, all these what if questions? I can accurately say that there will be absolutely no surge in Chinese visitors.
  19. Don't get excited and buy your tickets. If you do you are getting close to being a fool. More than likely they will change their minds. There is a chance they won't though. Will this have a huge effect on the economy? Probably not. Families will still not travel because of restrictions at home, the high costs of travel, and there will probably be a test when you arrive in Thailand and if you are asymptomatic you will have a very expensive and boring hotel stay for you and your family waiting for you. This will not bolster tourism in any meaningful manner, not yet.
  20. Well there's the stereotypical story of the day.
  21. This is far from an endemic in Thailand. The good news is the vaccines are working and being used. I look forward to it being treated as a true endemic once the vaccination rate improves greatly. It is so good to see things at least getting better - that was a brutal wave!
  22. Ah but you can much more easily catch it with no vaccine and your first days you will be positive and test negative. IT doesn't matter if people agree or not, it's the way it is and the way it WILL BE. ???? Nobody on this board has any say about it.
  23. I know right? I don't understand these people that want to holiday in Thailand right now. Nobody is coming. Look at the numbers!
  24. Well it is a requirement so get your vaccine if you haven't. ????
