You should be thanking those beach vendors for protecting you.
Many unsuspecting (and uninformed) tourists get bitten by monkeys. I do not think that Hepatitis B should be on your bucket list.

Britman, I feel your frustration. The rules certainly are different (or enforced differently) here.
Reading all of these posts from other forum members talking about 'what you did' to enrage this guy , knocking his car with your super sized makro shopping bag, you're not telling the whole story, etc, and that you need to take matters into your own hands further to attempt to prosecute this guy ... is seriously annoying me. (and the memory of some of these people - wow!)
As Stoner said "victim blame much"
Glad you are on the mend and able to get out on the bike again.

As others have said - no problem with buying buffalo. Surely some local issan farmers will be happy to sell you one/some - but be prepared to pay farang price. Should be from about 12k up , depending on age/sex/pregnancy etc.
As far as the donkey goes... Why? they are obstinate , useless creatures - definitely not 'pet material'. (more like pet food)
The only suggestion I would have is to make sure you have some sort of yards or handling area , in case the beasts need medication or treatment at some time. Bloody Hobby Farmers!! they use to be the bane of my life!
Generally it was a young greenie couple with 1 cow. They would call me because she was sick. I would arrive at the property - to be told 'Clover is over there. She is really quiet'. When someone new comes up to her - unless she was on deaths door - the poor vet (me), would spend the next 20 minutes trying to catch the patient!
One of my rules of veterinary practice was 'if you can't catch the patient , it doesn't need treatment!'

I had a .22 rifle in my early twenties. Used it for work, carrying it around in the back of my car. (country vet - used to euthanise animals) . Handed in after the Port Arthur incident.
Don't miss owning a gun - and feel happier in a society where they are 'less visible'.

Mass poisoning of rats in Bangkok would be a no go due to potential collateral targeting of other animals and people by rodenticides - either the anticoagulant varieties or cholecalciferol poisons - which cause acute renal failure when ingested.
Myxomatosis is a viral disease that only affects European rabbit species.
Bubonic plague is a bacterial disease , that was spread by fleas, often carried by rats. The great plague epidemics in the past occurred at a time when there were no antibiotics. We now have many antibiotics that could treat the Yersinia infection. I think there is no fear of another major Bubonic plague outbreak!

The way I see it, the basic and universal problem is that the legal distinction between male and female humans is itself a discrimination on the basis of sex, a discrimination between men and women. Eliminate that distinction and all problems are solved.
Separate sports competitions, for example, have been mentioned and possible problems arising if a man choses to identify as woman and enters a competition for woman. If you have competitions for humans instead of separate competitions for men and women, no problem arises. Has anyone ever seen separate races for male and for female horses or dogs or mice, etc? (Don't mention cock fights or the animal rights activists will come after you 🙂)
FYI there are many horse races that are only for fillies , or colts and geldings.
I am not well versed on mouse racing...

i only use Ebay to buy things I can't find anywhere else , ie Lazada , Shopee , Ali Express. Ebay delivery times, especially from the US, using their 'Global Shipping Service' are too long for an impatient sod like me!
For car parts and electronic supplies it is quite useful - so long as you don't need it in a hurry!

So let me try to understand this.
"safety concerns" with people keeping lions in Thailand.
Recent reported incidents involving lions attacking people in Thailand - none that I am aware of.
Response : scrutinise , fine , confiscate lions
People keeping Pitbull type dog breeds in Thailand - no problem
Numerous injuries and deaths following attacks in the last few years.
Response , generally a rap on the knuckles or furious attempts to rehome the offending dog.
No, still don't really understand this....

We have AC on 26 all night - though sometimes turn it off if I get too cold. Ceiling fan on as well - but took a long time to convince wife that it won't fall down and mince us. I hope i'm not wrong...

I am surprised there aren't more of these whorefish in Thailand.
Oh sorry , I misread that...

Funfact! Male snakes have a pair of penises - called hemipenes. I have had to amputate several from snakes subjected to trauma. They can still 'do the job' with just one.

I have had reading glasses , and prescription driving glasses made for me by the top shop which you are referring to. They do their eye testing in store , check my prescription , check against my older glasses - and the finished product - it is always okay - but not quite as good as the pair they were replacing. A lens fell out of one pair after 2 days! They did fix that, but it was a 1 week turnaround..
My eyesight has not deteriorated, I just needed to replace glasses because they were scratched or damaged.
I no longer go to the Top shop.
I have bought better and Much cheaper glasses from Zenni.
