I received a letter/email from TE this evening , which attempts to explain the delays being faced by TE members.
This was appreciated, as it shows they are listening to members.
BUT - there is no imminent solution to the problem
As an over 50 , I know what I will be doing ????♂️????♂️????♂️????♂️ Just walk away!

Yes - there is currently a major impasse between TE and the MFA , so no TE Visa holders are getting placed on the ‘approved entry list’ - and hence TE holders cannot apply for CoE.
Spoke to TE, and it was suggested that I will need to wait for at least another month before any approvals are given.
Every time I scroll through thai visa forum pages now I am bombarded with banners offering me 3 months extra TE Visa if I apply and pay before Dec 31. What a joke!!!
Someone needs to grow a set of b@lls here - maybe the MFA needs a bigger brown envelope from TE?

Sorry , The short answer to OP. = NO

Hi , I would be careful , and not be in a hurry to hand over the cash to TE.
People stuck out of Thailand have to apply to TE to arrange approval with the MFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), and this has to be granted before you can apply for CoE with your local Embassy.
Apparently the MFA has cracked the sh#%s with TE, so nothing is being approved.
If you pay now you get a ‘free’ 3 months Visa extension - but a fat lot of good that is to you sitting in your lounge room waiting to return to LOS.
If you are over 50, an O-X visa is probably the way to go
Good luck!

This article does NOT make me happy at all!
I bought my TE Visa to expedite my return to LOS.
If an O-X or O-A Visa will get me there sooner - I will be exploring my options to see if I can cash out my TE. I will talk to them tomorrow...

Yes this is the same problem I am having they say that my approve wil be 30 days. Are you having problem booking ASQ hotel. I though this was why we paid them 500.000 for hassle free entry
I have not tried to book ASQ as yet - I need to know when I can return first!
With TEM-Q Mk1 , TE were supposedly organising ASQ, but not now. I can understand this, because getting all of your ducks lined up is no mean feat!
I am resigned to the fact that there is no such thing as a hassle free entry, and maybe it was not 500K Baht well spent...
ubonjoe - I will follow up with Embassy prungnii - cheers

I have similar issue. Thai elite have changed their TEM-Q protocol.
They suggested that I should book my flight, organise ASQ , but that they also needed 30 days notice for Ministry of Foreign Affairs approval. I pointed out that this was impossible, because we are never given more than 3 weeks notice of scheduled repatriation flights.
Thai Elite have now applied to MFA on my behalf, so when I get approval, I can apply to embassy for CoE and things will progress smoothly(?).
This has not turned out to be the easy return I had hoped for!

The Volkswagen Amarok is a good vehicle , but not available in Thailand.
The next generation Ranger will share its platform with the VW , rather than the Mazda as it does in this offering.
Larger V6 Diesel engines, and possibly hybrid drivetrains may be on offer - but I seriously doubt that anything larger (or more powerful) than the current offerings will be available in the ridiculously controlled Thai market!

I have had several Rangers now. They are a class above the ISUZU & Mitsubishi offerings.
IMO they drive better, & are far more comfortable that the HiLux.
I do not think servicing is a problem in Thailand - not in my experience anyway.
The twin turbo 2.0 would be preferable = but for regular driving without much load , you won’t notice much difference. They are not quick! If you want 4WD, you will have to go for the twin turbo.
You can search YouTube or Facebook for WAT Ford for some ‘personalisation/dress-up’ options.

Yes - tax here is about 300%
i had a 2016 mustang GT convertible - cost me just under Aus $70k. The same car in Thailand had a list price of the equivalent of $230k! I looked into importing my car to Thailand. LOL. It would have cost me almost the same amount to bring my car here!
I bought GF a Honda HRV here 2 years ago. Cost the equivalent of Aus $52k - same car could have been bought from dealer in Oz for $35k.
many things are cheap in Thailand. Cars are not!!
even second hand cars go for silly money here...

I had similar issues with one of my aircons, and like others have said, it was only really obvious when in swing mode. Problem was faulty/broken drive mechanism for vanes. Got a ridiculous quote to repair it - so just turned off vertical swing - problem solved!

Organisers of these protests expected 10 to 20 thousand demonstrators - so 200 protesters was an insipid response!
The Covid19 response in this country is amazing to watch. It would seem to most people that the State & Federal governments are using it as an excuse for their own agendas. Queensland & Western Australia have effectively cut themselves off from the rest of the country. Meanwhile in Victoria, where we are now, things are very quiet. We are entering our 6th week of curfew. Despite living in regional Victoria (300 km from Melbourne) we are still subject to strong restrictions (but we do not have the 8pm to 5am curfew that the city of Melbourne has) - and this is despite us having 0 cases in our (very large) area for over 3 months! Yes - people are dying in Australia from/with Corona virus - but most are in aged care, and now we are not told the age of the daily morbidities as it is increasingly obvious that most deaths occur in the over 70s.
In our increasingly litigious society our leaders are busy trying to safe face, because any rapid repeal of current restrictions will result in an avalanche of legal responses in an attempt to gain financial compensation for loss of liberty or commercial losses. The Government cannot turn around and say ‘we were wrong’ or ‘maybe we overestimated the potential threat here’.
The initial response here was to “flatten the curve” - so as not to overwhelm the (already robust) health system - but has now evolved into ‘elimination’.
So the charade continues.........
The truth is no longer the driver here.

I applied for ‘permission’ to leave last 10pm last Tuesday. I stated that I have a residence in Thailand but am stuck in Oz with my Thai partner. I said I don’t want to live here anymore. Got approval by 10am next day! They can’t wait to get rid of me! Not that difficult...

No
an infected person has his/her immune system busy trying to combat the virus/infection
therefore the immune system is unable to mount a response to the vaccine - so no immunity or benefit would be gained.

OMG. 75% of 0.00167% of the Thai population wants to keep foreigners out of Thailand.
What a meaningful survey!
This headline means nothing!

Very interesting, thanks for sharing.
Did you have to take a full 12 months health policy with Regency, or is it available for say 21 days, 30 days etc?
Did you need to:
- Visit the Thai embassy in Sydney or wherever to get any of the required entry docs?
- Get a very recent Covid 19 test report?
- If you have recently got an air booking, would you please share what airline.
Thanks, appreciated.
I took out an annual policy - I needed that to satisfy requirements for retirement Visa anyway. Not sure if shorter time frames will be allowed.
I have been dealing withThai embassy in Canberra - but - they have stopped issuing visas other than for diplomats or anyone ‘officially’ working with corona.I got health certificate from my GP, stating I was healthy and was exhibiting no symptoms conducive with Corona - I was told that was satisfactory.
At this stage my Thai partner and I are hoping to return to Thailand with Cathay in early July - have bookings - but obviously we need a few ducks to line up for that to happen!

I feel for families who are being kept apart by this current situation.
I see so much Thai bashing on this site - but the rules here in Oz are not much different. Australian nationals need to apply for permission to leave our country - our Government has banned us from leaving ! In effect we are prisoners in our country - but this is typical behaviour in our ‘nanny state’ here.
You cannot get travel insurance to cover you for Covid19, but for the right price health insurance that covers for Covid19 (and any other illness/accident) was not difficult to get. I took out a policy with Regency - and they happily gave me all of the certificates I required to keep the Thai authorities happy.

Good report - thanks guys.
I escape from Auscatraz next Monday and start my 15d ASQ in LOS then.
SWMBO left last week (she is Thai) and is doing normal State Quarantine - staying in nice 4 star hotel (Free). Her only complaint is too much food as well.
Only issue so far has been the bedbugs! Nice!
