ive seen stingray skins in pratunam market the airconditioned part...I think you can find Nung Pla Gra Ben (หนังปลากระเบน) at JJ market, MBK and also Pratoonum. However, you may need to be careful as you might get a fake one
Thanks for your help. I'll give those places a shot.

I was there a few weeks ago. Golden Virginia and Drum were available. There were a few others but I can't recall which they were.

My wife and I have recently stayed at the Dawin on Soi 4. We couldn't fault it.
Spacious rooms, great showers, and friendly staff.
Cost us just over 2K.
Booked through Sawadee.com
There is also an Ibis hotel next door opening in March. They are advertising a rate of 1k.

Useful info for some, so worth bring back again.

It may be worth checking out this thread:

Much better alternative going straight into Sukhothai, and yes the minivan is about 500 Baht to the centre of town.
500 baht for a return to the old town.
240 baht for a return to the new town.

We ended up hiring a car from Phitsanulok Rent A Car. Tel 089 7033168 / 081 8861519.
They brought the car to us at our hotel in Sukhothai and also collected the car at the end of our hire period. 1400 baht per day which we were perfectly happy with.

I would imagine that if the person in question has a conviction for a sexual assault on a child, he would be on the sex offenders register and the UK Police would know where he is.
If the UK authorities thought the guy was a threat, they would probably inform the Thai authorities.
If it wasn't a sexual assault, leave the guy alone. He's served his time.

Thanks. I know the Pailyn well. Have stayed there numerous times, but didn't realise car hire was available from there.

Does anyone know of a company that I can hire a car from in Sukhothai.
I'm trying to avoid having to go to Phitsanoluk to hire one.

My wife not only knows the ATM PIN number, but she also keeps the ATM card.
She is also an additional card holder on my credit card.
I trust her more with our money than I do myself.

There is not any point in asking the OP any more questions as he is no longer with us. So don't expect a reply.
May as well close the thread then.

If he was so worried about his safety, why did he board the flight in the first place.

I found a nice budget hotel on phuket.be which goes to r24.org/phuket.be/
Is it safe to book here? it asked me for a 5,000 baht deposit and the rest of the money by Jan 10,2009
Has anyone had experience using this website and deposit system? Wondering if i'll run into any problems/scams.
Thanks
I have used them in excess of 20 times without any problems.
The only times I have not used them is when I have booked with a hotel directly.
Your deposit will be safe.

My understanding is that the "Thank You" fare is applicable to everyone, not just resident card holders and flyer bonus members.
http://promotions.flyerbonus.com/newslette...ankfare_en.html
They are also offering reduced points redemption flights for flyer bonus members.
"From December 5, 2008 to January 31, 2009, members can not only redeem their FlyerBonus points for ticket awards but also save 50% off the usual points required"
Bangkok - Samui Return for only 100 points.

I have passed through the airport many times without any hassles, including opening day.
People complain about the "long walk" to and from the gates. Why not use the travelling walkways. There's plenty of them.
There are also buggies available for pax with walking difficulties. I guess you would need to contact the airline ground staff to arrange these.
Immigration can be slow at times, as it can be in the UK.
Personally, I have never had a problem with the hotel and limousine touts. I politely say no thanks and they leave me alone.
I've encountered worse people outside tailor shops in Thailand. Not to mention the timeshare/holiday ownership lot.
I have bussed to and from the aircraft at several airports including, LHR, LGW, TFS. It is not uncommon.
There are several reasons that i can think of immediately why buses are used.
Aircraft is not due to be used for a period of time.
Aircraft is due to go on maintenance.
Airline does not want to pay airbridge fees.
No airbridge available
Aircraft's next sector could be domestic having done an international or vice versa.
Aircraft is not suitable for an airbridge.
Airbridge is inop.
Airbridge not accessible due to apron maintenance.
Budget airlines often make you walk from the gate to the aircraft. Ryanair & Easyjet for example.
I like it and am happy to use it. Unlike LHR and DXB

One of the funniest for me was Weho' "Trolleys on Escalators"

Is AirAsia very strict on their policy to check-in for international flights, at least 45 minutes before departure ? Or would they let me in, even 30 minutes before departure ?
If they said at least 30 minutes before departure, would you want to check in 15 minutes before?
Why not do as most sensible people do and check in 2 hours before departure.
ist simply that like most low-cost airls, the check-in staff leaves their desks at 45 mins prior, then goes to the gate-check: where they once again will greet you.Errr, at Savanaboum check in clerks leave their desks to run to the gates?
Never seen that happen
I regularly fly with RBA from BKK and it is usually the same TG check in girls that are at the departure gate.
Though I've not seen them run there.

Not sure about Marlboro, but Bensons are 500 Baht at the airport.

Deleted. Wrong Info. Sorry.

Does anyone know if and where Bakhoor (Arabic scented wood chips) and the charcoal tablets are available in BKK ?
I'm assuming Sukhumvit Soi 5 & 7 may be the best place to try.

I wasn't asking for an opinion.
And for the record I am intending to buy 2 or 3.
