I entered Thailand on the fifth of this month on a 60 day visa. Somewhere along the way at the airport, I lost my departure card. I hope to go sometime in late January to Chaeng Wattana and extend it for another 30 days. Is the lost TM6 going to be a minor matter that can be sorted out before the extension, be a complete disaster or somewhere in the middle? Thanks for your help.

UPDATE: Brutal attack on Thai woman investigated by NYPD
Thai Visa Member 999999 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Your cited article claims that only Detroit would fall in the 2% figure. The US' violent crime rate, according to the article, is ~400/100K which is approximately one-fifth of your claim. As I wrote before, two percent is just an enormous number and it's unfathomable that it could be that high since you can reason that rural areas have much lower crime rates so that cities would have to be at a 4% rate. That's a Mad Max society. -

Are you saying there is a 2% chance that a random individual will be a victim of violent crime? THere's no doubt that the USA is more violent than Thailand but it's almost impossible to believe your statistic unless you are taking an all-encompassing definition. And of course, the rate is different for your racial class, making your claim even more incredulous. I'm certainly open to being corrected but 2% is just an astronomical percentage. -

That's a good point. Some of these places have been advertising for months on end on FB MarketPlace. I have my area in mind already. Since it's only three months, I'm rather inclined to get this done and dusted and enjoy myself but maybe a week is enough time. The agents are certainly hurrying it up. They want me to see the place and sign before I'm out of Test&Go quarantine.

I used to live in BKK but between the pandemic and my mom needing help, I have mostly moved back to the US. In Thailand, I lived with my GF or had my school bother with finding living quarters. Now, I don't have either one so I am returning for three months to "relax" and have to find a place to stay. I have found several places on FB marketplace who will rent for three months but now I wonder how smart is this? I assume these people are all agents/owners and on the up-and-up but in truth, they could be fraudulent as well. I don't have a clue. They do offer me contracts so I find that somewhat reassuring but is there anything else I should look out for? I speak some Thai and have a lot of Thai friends who can help but that really wouldn't help much if I got in a pickle. It's only three months so it's not a king's ransom but I would prefer to minimize the drama. Should I just stick to AirBnB which I found uninspiring? Anybody know Thais who have rented off FB marketplace? Thanks

The videos you saw may have been filmed during summer lockdown? THere's a YouTube channel of material along the same line, BKK Walks I think, and he had my 'hood, BangRak , as you describe but it was during the big lockdown. I'm going back to BKK for a few months on Saturday so I'm hoping its BangRak Bazaar and the food courts are bustling.

Instant Thai Pass
Thai Visa Member 999999 replied to Phil Wheal's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If you scan the QR code in the info graph, it will connect you to your local consulate. For me, DC; for you, place X. I got the TP right after I posted this morning so it may have helped after all. I Lined, called the BKK help number and emailed the support as I wrote earlier. -

Yes I used Line to reach the DC consulate and they were helpful but it didn't result in a pass -
Instant Thai Pass
Thai Visa Member 999999 replied to Phil Wheal's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I applied Nov 15 for a Dec 2 flight and haven't gotten any decision. I called, Lined and emailed and all said they'd bring it to their attention but it doesn't seem to have worked, I am now canceling the Agoda booking and Emirates flight and going to S America. -
Could someone with great wisdom and generosity enlighten me as to how the Thai Pass works? I applied on November 15th and still have not received word despite a planned Dec 2 departure. I am expecting to have to cancel everything and rebook for after December 15 to make sure I don't have to pay $200 to the hotel for naught. The Thai Pass has an expiration date. I read in a Barrow article that itinerary changes can be made as long as it is within 72 hours. Precisely, what is this change? Is it that the rebooking has to be made by 72 hours after being TP approval and I can fly as late as the the day before the Thai Pass expiration or is it the new flight must depart no more than 72 hours after the flight I used to apply for the Thai Pass. I thought it meant the latter but now I read the Thai Pass comes with a long expiration date that would reason it is actually the former. Thanks for the help.

He's asymptomatic so he may have bought insurance that doesn't cover his circumstances. What it teaches you is to stop taking your meds if you test positive so you don't get screwed. I'm going off my bp meds to prepare for a possible + result. And if I have a stroke? I have health insurance so I'm good. ????

Immigration stamps
Thai Visa Member 999999 posted a topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Is there a rule about when you are stamped in and your clock starts? I have had flights arrive at 23:30 and not made it to the Immigration counter until after 24:00 yet been stamped in based on my flight's arrival time. If I my flight were to be scheduled for a 00:10 arrival and make it to the counter at 00:30, would my clock likely start based on the flight's arrival time? I have been "shorted" a day in the past as a consequence of flying from California on my miles plan but now have the freedom to start fresh with another carrier whose flight arrives after midnight. Unfortunately, with Covid it makes a two-night hotel stay hard to avoid so getting that extra day might cost a hundred USD. Thanks for your input and take care. -

In numerous Facebook groups, people are doing it six to 7 times before successfully submitting. This is a good one for help, if needed. Best of luck. https://www.facebook.com/groups/317712356197034/ -
