Emirates' Covid insurance
Thai Visa Member 999999 replied to Thai Visa Member 999999's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Thanks. I am assuming you are talking about asympto cases. Reports are better than nothing so I am inclined to believe them. It might dirty their name if they didn't but one can never be too sure. -
Can anyone tell me if the insurance provided by Emirates pays out in case of asymptomatic infection? Anyone ever been reimbursed by Emirates' carrier in just such a case? Info is hard to come by and I haven't received an email response from Emirates. Thanks

I live in San Francisco half the year and the Chinese act like this here as well. Like you said, abroad they've never been outside their country and don't know another way. I was at my local massage shop in BKK when a kid had to go to the bathroom and I guess his parents told him to just urinate out on the street on a tree so that's what he did to everybody's shock.

METV reqs.
Thai Visa Member 999999 replied to Thai Visa Member 999999's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thanks you guys for your input. I am very appreciative. I'll try the "retired" METV and if they instead give me a 60 day visa as they threaten on the e-visa site, I'll let you guys know. Thanks again. -
METV reqs.

Thanks for that. I somehow edited out a piece of important info which is that I would like to fly in & out 2-3 times, per year, for the next few years. Not 2-3 times total for the next 24 months. Does that change things? Thanks for the info. -
This really is genuine bad news for many Thais. Where I live in BKK, the Chinese tourists are everywhere and add a lot of money to the local economy. Xi is determined to keep China Covid-0 so if he continues with this fantasy, it might be a lot longer than last 2022. The restrictions on re-entering China are so onerous, it will deter foreign excursions until the rules are considerably relaxed.

I've turned 50 and left my job after a bout of pandemic induced introspection and am currently thinking about Thailand (others as well) as a possible second home. The METV would suit me best, allowing me a stay, return to take care of my mom for four or five months and then back to SEA. The sticking point is that the METV requires a letter of employment which I don't have anymore. I could set up a legal company, do a minimal amount of work and claim self-employment but that seems a little excessive. The "retirement" visa requires a lot of money transfers which I don't want to do given how unsure Thailand is in my future. If the METV is strict about the letter, would I have a problem of flying in two, perhaps three times, per year, for the next two years and staying 30-90 days each time (60day TV and +30 day xt)? I recognize we don't know the future so all I can do is use past experience as a possible guide. Thanks and take care.

You can buy an METV from the USA acc to the DC consulate. The individual consulate web pages don't always reflect current policy with some being true laggards. Still, it's best to check with your respective consulate. Vietnam has its own "sand box" island and Vietnam is on Thailand's list of q-free entries. Whether or not coming from Thailand, quarantine-free is accepted, is something you'd have to research. I would imagine it would be but better verify.

Covid insurance for Thailand.
Thai Visa Member 999999 replied to ray richards's topic in Insurance in Thailand
I second the urgency of carefully inspecting your coverage. There have been a number of people who have tested +&asympto who have been carted off to the hospital only to find their bill not covered by insurance. Please make absolutely sure your coverage pays for asymptomatic hospital coverage . -

I sent you a message regarding suggestions. Join this group is my suggestion. https://www.facebook.com/groups/298606387906884/ -
Thanks. That probably means that the big food court next to the bazaar is still closed as I had been told. Maybe that will open after Thursday's meeting.
-
Thanks. I'll definitely check them out. I live by Asiatique so to get down to T21, it's a BTS ride and I have had an old Thai grandma tell others that I stink on the BTS after going running so I'm trying not to offend. She didn't know that I could understand her. ???? ???? Thanks for the tip. I'll look for the additional veg stalls.
-
Sadly, I am still in the USA but leaving soon. I'll miss the veg festival for a second year. Have a veg spring roll on me! ????
-
I agree it's good value and I believe the vendors pay little for rent. There's only one veg stall though and there's not a lot of rotation but for 50-100B, it's great. Pra Ram 3 has a good food court I think. Best tofu I've ever had and I never have liked the stuff. Anyplace(s) else?

You can just hop on the red number 15 bus and you don't have to wait long. I think they raised it to 10 B coin from 8.5 after I left. The younger the driver, the further you stand from the open door lest you exit "early".

There's a Robinsons at Bangrak not far from BTS Suphan Taksin. T21 is good but too far for everyday. I wasn't even sure if T21 would be open to be honest. I guess it's not gonna be as bad as I feared. Seems like most everything is open to some degree.

Well, I don't think the Chinese are currently allowed outside to play in Thailand so now's a good time to revisit your old walks. I live near Asiatique and go running in Lumpini and then stop back at the food court to pick up dinner. Near on two years I've been missing it. Bangkok's a great city. Better stop before I have a sob ????
-
Yeah, that's the one I was thinking of. Last I heard, your supposition was correct and there weren't many vendors. I think most of the customer traffic was Thai (particularly the Kerry office girls) but I don't know if that big office complex is open. There were always a lot of school kids as well later in the afternoon. Do you guys find that most of your food vendors are still hawking? It's the 30B spicy som tam that makes me miss BKK so.

That was the same wording that the DC consulate used to have on their web page before they changed it . I don't know how up-to-date London's page is kept but I hope for the UK's sake, it's just slow. I can't imagine there's any reason for the difference. From my experience, the LA consulate is usually pretty late to getting to something while NY and DC seem to more prompt. I can email LA and not get an answer for weeks. They're too busy enjoying all our beautiful state has to offer. ????

Thanks I forgot about that one. I would like to know about the food court that is next to the Bangrak Bazaar. If you haven't been, you should try it as the food's good and cheap with a lot of different Thai food on offer. If the indoor one is open then I'm guessing the semi-open one is too. Or so I hope.
