Peru Faces Backlash as Trans People Classified as 'Mentally Ill
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I'm not worried, I think this is one of very few or so I've used in 10 years - usually I only use them when the post is complete gobbledegook. Most people use them to express disapproval or disagreement with a post rather than confusion ( your post is neither); which in my opinion is an idle cop out from having to explain why they disagree of disapprove - this one was an exercise in satire. The "sad" emoji is misused in much the same way. It would make more sense to have an I disagree or you're wrong emoji (🍋 or thumbs down?) I've mentioned it from time to time but I think I am rather crying in the wilderness! -

That's Very Red King Charles Painting Revealed
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
He is taking the piss. At least it was funded by a "philanthropic foundation" the Drapers Company, so the public aren't paying. I somehow doubt if it will be remembered, by this time next year it will be down in the cellars of Buckingham Palace, leaning against the portrait of The Queen by Rolf Harris, collecting dust. I have to say King Charles does not look all that impressed! Prince Louis could have done a better job with his painting set! -

Thai Navy Agrees to Install Chinese Engine in Its New Submarine
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It certainly is the "gift that keeps giving"... It now turns out that the alternative to the German engine has never been installed in a submarine before - not even one of the Chinese ones; and is an untested prototype! -

Must be a "slow news day"! -
In which case it would seem that the following motorcycle was traveling 1) too fast, and 2) dangerously close to the poster. Sadly it is unlikely that the police will take that into consideration. Probably worth engaging a lawyer - otherwise all sorts of claims will be made.

Biden's stubbornness signalling terrorists will be rewarded
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It might be easier, and certainly more practical, to persuade the 9 million odd citizens of Israel to kill themselves. They would all die if the "citizens of greater Palestine", or at least those who would immediately seize control of them, had their way. -

Meanwhile on planet earth, observers, Thai and foreign, recognise a stitch up by those born to rule when they see one! -
Biden's stubbornness signalling terrorists will be rewarded
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Bidens advisors have thought only of appeasing a small contingent of the electorate, in a few congressional seats. Bidens woolly grasp of international affairs, has led him to take steps which only encourages Hamas. If Hamas survives in Gaza as the effective governing power, because Israel is dissuaded or prevented by his sanctions from finishing the job of destroying them, then the inevitable future terrorist campaigns launched by them from Gaza, and the casualties will be firmly in his lap. International trust in the USA in its desired role as leader of the free world, already weakened by their precipitous flight from Afghanistan which left both their allies and their supporters in the country exposed, will be further damaged. -
I did read it somewhere, in the last couple of weeks, and no I didn't record who wrote it or where. Perhaps I have a different approach to discussions than you. I neither have a photographic memory nor a STASI like operation to record who said what, when and where, to use to crush and bully into silence anyone who dares to step beyond the bounds of what you have ordained as appropriate political or social opinions. Mind you neither do I have the interest or energy to ceaselessly patrol these forums looking for fights as you clearly do! As I said, a different approach!

Nothing will really change. Starmer will stand on a beach and blether, the people smuggling gangs (highly lucrative) will ignore him, the lawyers advocating for the migrants (highly lucrative) will ignore him, the French will ignore him (unless they can screw even more money out of the UK for their ineffective policing activity). It is fascinating that there does seem to be an almost inexhaustible supply of big rubber dinghies and outboard motors. Bizarrely, I read somewhere that when they reach the UK they are seized, auctioned off cheaply, shipped back across the Channel and used again!

Unchecked Migration Threatens Britain's Social Fabric
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
A 60 year old woman was stabbed and bled to death on the street in broad daylight in London the other day. She had refused to hand over her bag to her assailant. He was an immigrant youth of Somali origin. How very vibrant and diverse, culturally enriching... -
Here we go again: 1) He is not my best buddy, something which I think we established ( with the help of some "moderation") some time ago. My comment made no mention of, and did not reference, either directly or indirectly, Thaksin or his "cronies". 2) Yet again you constantly and deliberately misspell his name. 3) The fact that you have kept this " allegation" warm on the back burner for so long until you saw an opportunity to make it, again, leads me to wonder if you are conducting a little vendetta - stalking perhaps?
