Don Mueang station’s escalators and elevators back in service after repairs
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Shouldn't it be escalators and TRAVELATORS? As far as I am aware the elevators continued functioning after the terrible incident with an unmaintained TRAVELATOR. Otherwise it would have been impossible to get around the airport with luggage -

Three new water management measures adopted to cope with El Niño
RobU replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I don't like to brag (well I do really) but hopefully this won't affect us 'cos we've got a borehole now which takes us off grid. This summer before we got the borehole we were over 20 hours a day without water with no indication whatsoever when it would be on. -
Thai Private Sector Seeks Help As Chinese Products Flood Market
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The only way to compete is to make Thai products the highest quality at competitive prices, so that buyers are confident if they 'Buy Thai' it is guaranteed to be the best. People will tend to avoid cheap and cheerful Chinese imports if they are confident they will get quality value for money. -
Chinese Rolls-Royce Owner Demands Compensation from Pickup Truck Driver
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't understand the controversy here. The pick up driver was too close and in the wrong, essentially driving in a dangerous manner. Therefore he or his insurance should pay. It doesn't matter whether the car he rear ended was a Rolls Royce or a Fiat Punto. The wealth of the .Rolls Royce driver is irrelevant -
Neighbors' Complaints Lead to Discovery of Nearly 20 Trapped Cats in a House
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
It's strange that they don't take responsibility for a life (or lives) that they have made dependent on them. We have 3 cats too always a pleasure to watch. Very comforting when they deign to allow us to pet them good at pest control too. -

Neighbors' Complaints Lead to Discovery of Nearly 20 Trapped Cats in a House
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
The the disgusting cavalier attitude of Thai people to the welfare of pets (including dogs) never ceases to amaze me. They seem to treat them as toys to be thrown away or just imprisoned and starved when they tire of them. -
Policeman arrested for firing gun in hospital over boyfriend troubles
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I also have served in the police and I fail to see how my statement could be interpreted in such a way as you did the story was about a policeman who committed a dangerous and criminal act the mention of his boyfriend was an incidental to indicate the trigger for the incident just as the mention of a girlfriend would be. Do you go off in the same rants shutting down any criticism of homosexuals being stupid, are we only allowed to criticise heterosexuals????? -

Female teachers required to serve alcohol, dance at religious event

Female teachers required to serve alcohol, dance at religious event
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There's a difference between wokey west 'give me an advantage purely because I'm a woman (e,g. Positive discrimination) and forcing only the highly skilled female teachers to abase themselves in this manner whilst the men do not, It is pure misogyny. -
Female teachers required to serve alcohol, dance at religious event
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm totally gobsmacked, my flabber is completely ghasted. Do the misogynistic governors of this school have any idea of the modern world. Treating teachers in this way is an embarrassment to Thailand and demonstrates that it still acting like an 18th century hypocrisy rather than a modern forward thinking state- 87 replies

Felicitous Felines: Beliefs About Thai Cats and Breed Characteristics
RobU replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Cats are Protectors of Souls. When the human soul leaves the body it is very disoriented and vulnerable to the dark forces that gather around the dying. Cats can be attracted to people on the point of death and stay with them until they die to ensure the soul orientates itself and begins its journey safely
