They need to take a real driving test like they do in Europe and the rest of the world 30 lessons before you can even sit your test plus the 100% correct theory test. I took the driving test here and it's a joke and way to easy just 3 tasks no theory test anf much to cheap playing f1 on the playstation is harder. The only way to stop the road carnage is to educate them and do like europe that in the first 12 month if they get any points on licence must take the test again. I dont think you would find yourself being alone and being alone could make your feelings worse, that said I live in a very very quiet of Phuket very cheap rent (3500 baht ) 2 bed house in kind of a complex of only 4 houses, all the mod cons good internet and cable tv, very safe and secure with excellent naughbours, we have BBQS each month and help each other out when needed but we dont live in each others way, I am around 1 hour from the best beaches and 20 mins to the big shops, it's nice to be alone but also nice knowing I can talk to people when I wont to and in my terms, I am 62 now and felt the same 20 years ago when I left and for me it's the best thing I ever did. No more being screwed by government tax and paying out big for any necessary stuff. If I was you iwould come to Thailand and travel around you would know yourself when you find what you search for as recommendations from others suit others and may not suit you.

Hi all I'm looking for best advice to repel snakes ie king cobra. I've came across 3 babies now in just 2 days. Size around 15inch to 24inch so I know theres a nest near by and it must be very very close to my house. Sprayed with vinegar as heard it helps and already have lemongrass. So any other ideas would be welcome. This is the first time as seen cobras had a few vipers and keelbacks in the past. No children, and family are poor but have never asked for anything from me even when we go to visit they pay for everything. They live in small village where my wife didnt have friends to grow up with so immersed herself in books and educating herself as went to normal government school. We met at a language school me learning thai her learning English when she was age 17 and where just friends for couple of years before we started a relationship after 3 years we married no dowry no big thai wedding just a few friends and family. Now she is a language teacher english franch and german works in private school and also teaches online so gets paid ok now and keeps my Visa money topped up in My bank. But before she started work we never had money and really struggled with me having to keep flying back to the uk she has no intention of leaving Thailand and also couldnt fly back with me due to university and then work. I consider myself one of the lucky ones yes I've done all the bar scene but that was over 29 years ago and men are slow to grow up and settle down. Now living in Phuket dog cat wife and really looked after and I know for sure that she will continue to take care if me. Yes she saves money for herself for when I'm gone and yes she plans to one buy a house but it is her money not mine. I'm not on a pension yet at age 62 only small private and the uk law has changed theres no widow pension anymore for thai. So maybe I am one of the few who can say with truth that I'm happy here

Me age 62 my wife of 3 years age 24 very well educated and has a good teaching job and I dont have savings or big pensions never built a house or sent any money to her before we married . Now we are a team and pay things together and save for what we need with big items with more of her money supporting me. We pay everything together including my Visa. Thailand is all about saving face and having a farang bf or husband gives thai more face so I would say to the old men looking for a young gf or wife is to use the saving face to their advantage tell the girls the truth from the start dont big yourself up to be a rich farang spending money like your on holiday. Should compare first world countries with first world countries and third with third, try comparing Thailand and vienam and then the uk and france. There are lots of reasons expats stay here but I doubt it's the cost of living. If people planned their retirement with enough money to live on then like my dad used to say every country is the same if you have enough money
