This is an extremely good idea. It is well known, both in Thailand and from the mouth of that beacon of good sense the President of the US, that less testing equals fewer cases. This holds true of everything throughout the known universe. STOP THE TESTING.

Given that air quality exceeds both the WHO's and the government's standard for most of the year, would it not be simpler to name those few areas where one is NOT likely to ultimately die of lung disease and associated illnesses, rather than rattle off a long list of black spots each time?

It would be laughable were the problem not so serious; over a period of thirty-five years I have seen variations on this theme regularly aired in the media, by government spokespeople and by ordinary Thais. Nothing changes. And nothing will without a root-and-branch destruction of patrimony, nepotism and indeed of Thai society, which has long since adapted to, and learned to function within, the status quo. Existing power structures are self-serving, and that being the case, there is little to no hope of cleaning up corruption. It is endemic in the body of the state.

The amazing, prescient TAT - one day into a four day holiday and they already have the figures!
Is there anything they don't know in advance?

Thanks for the fast reply.
So if a guy said to his friend ขอบใจไอ้น้อง, it basically just shows that they're both close to each other?
In this case, can it be translated into something like "Thanks, bro"?
Exactly!

ไอ้ is just a particle and, depending on context, can denote several things. In this case, combined with น้อง, it merely shows acquaintance, familiarity; in other contexts it can imply contempt, but not in this case. I would refer you to that often-heard chant during recent demonstrations, rendered as 'I hear you' in English, for the latter meaning.

I fully agree.
Another example: diabolic plague is 100 % deadly but can be reliably cured with antibiotics.
99.9999% of people never get diabolic plague.
Only .0001% of people ever get it (and these .0001% all die from it).
With antibiotics, .0000% of people die from diabolic plague.
The difference is .0001% (dead w/o antibiotics) - .0000% (dead with antibiotics) = .0001%, the real efficacy of these antibiotics!!!!
, do
What good are these antibiotics for? I’ll pass . . .
I've heard of bubonic plague and I've heard of pneumonic plague but 'diabolic plague' is a new one for me. What are the symptoms, do little devils with toasting forks sit on one's shoulder?

I think that service was discontinued several years ago as I enquired about it at Tha Chang and was informed of its demise.
Pity, it was a great and inexpensive trip, but it would make sense that it's been cancelled now that the purple line goes out there. Perhaps there are other public services from there, apart from the Chao Phraya regular boat?

If you go to the landing stage nearest the Sanam Luang, Tha Chang is the name, you can take a public boat that goes up the river to Bangkok Noi tributary on the left, then all the way to Bang Yai in Nonthaburi. Thing is, you'll get lots of hassle from long-tail boat touts for a private hire, and the sign for the boat I'm talking about is in Thai only, or was twenty years ago when last I took it, so you may need your wife to assist. Used to cost only about 25 Baht back then. It's a fascinating jaunt through the backwaters, very picturesque, takes about a hour or so.

Well, cry me a river; many traders made huge profits in such tourist spots around Thailand during the good times, which extended for years. If they did not have the foresight to save and plan for the future then my sympathy only extends to those at the bottom of the food chain, who never had the chance to establish themselves.

Given the proven propensity of Thai authorities to make a hash of the simplest of tasks, it is a wonder that so many people have accepted uncritically the narrative promoted by the government that Thailand is somehow particularly efficient in suppressing COVID-19.

Simple in Thailand: too many takiap in the kuaytiaw.
Anyone have heart problems and what meds do you take.

The heart is a complex organ with many medications used to treat specific problems associated with it. If you are looking for advice for your particular symptoms or condition, and not just expressing idle curiosity, a cardiologist would be the person to consult; a person's diagnosis is individual, as is their medication regimen.
