For me a critical question is "what has Thailand's leaders learned from the pandemic so far?" I recall seeing a press release earlier this week that referenced population immunity. I'm afraid that we're seeing the same "Hope for the best, plan for the best" mentality that was the foundation of the vaccine debacle in 2021. What if, as data suggests and many predicted, this coronavirus, like other coronaviruses that infect humans, does not trigger long-lasting immune memory? What is their plan in this scenario? Considering the person leading Thailand's health agency I'd expect silence on such nuance.

Not grow fast but grow at a pace that is normal compared to my past experience. The soil from HomePro was abnormal in appearance (but typical of many soils that I've seen sold in Thailand) looking like it was collected from a forest floor. In the Homepro soil one of the plants, a christmas cactus, had 2/3 cuttings die. The second plant which I've had for 35 years, Epiphyllum oxypetalum, grew very slowly with many leaves dying after sprouting. Both are thriving in the new soil. For me the question is "what's in the HomePro soil that was killing the plants?".

In the theaters the newest Spiderman. It took half of the movie and one major character death to wash the stench of Disney off of the film. After that it excelled. Top notch actors in the movie but Willem Dafoe stole the show imo. At home we just finished The Witcher and were sad to reach the end. Now we're into the third season of Dark which is one of the best sci-fi efforts I've ever seen.

For me Van Egmond soil rescued two cuttings that refused to grow for months in soil from HomePro. (not sure of the brand). The HomePro soil was not impressive from the start - lots of twigs, dead leaves and grass. After transplanting into the Van Egmond soil the cuttings immediately began to thrive. I bought the Van Egmond soil at a nursery in Hua Hin but it's avaliable on Lazada. It reminds me of the Miracle Grow brand soil that I would buy in the US.

I guess the pork shortage has finally reached the forests of Southern Thailand? ASF probably can infect wild pigs so their populations might really be dropping.

And we are to presume that in the absence of similar media attention that the thousands streaming daily across the Myanmar, Malasia, Lao and Cambodia borders are all virus-free. Regarding the virus the only problem posed to Thailand is from the Farang.

I have nothing helpful to add to this thread but after reading the thread a few days ago I've been peppered with Animal Electro-Ejaculator ads while on this website. My wife is beginning to suspect that I'm some sort of deviant as we live in Bangkok and don't have livestock. Is anyone else getting this? Finally, is this a good brand? On Rt. 32 north of Ayutthaya the speed limit oscillates between 120 and 90kph due to U-turns across the center median. Of course the speed cameras are in the 90kph areas, usually mounted on overpasses.

And it seems that info like this doesn't get noticed in Thailand until a Thai "expert" repeats it. It's a big world out there, with very knowledgeable non-Thai scientists including some Nobel-prize winning scientists with important things to say about the virus. But before new findings are disseminated in the Thai media it apparently must be approved by a Thai scientist with likely lesser qualifications who then repeats the findings as if they had generated the data. If they cited labs in the US, UK, Germany, France, Japan etc it would at least give the impression that Thailand is part of an international research network. Which itself could be a good thing.

Maybe. But I think it's equally if not more likely because under the current loopholes many of these bars might survive to the end of the pandemic and this, to the current administration, is unacceptable.

So I guess we can be certain that Thailand's historically porous borders have been sealed and that there is no way that omicron can enter through that proven route (that's how the outbreak started last year). Otherwise Thai leadership would look awfully stupid if not downright negligent for killing the economy for nothing. Regarding native Thais - It's one thing for people to not have hope as was the case throughout most of 2021. But quite another to give them hope and then yank it away like this. Like what most of what this administration does I doubt that they have fully thought through the longer term effects of their actions. Weeks ago when my wife was planning to have her daughter visit from the US I warned her that the Thai government might reinstate full quarantine but she was incredulous. I imagine that Thais are in a bit of shock over this.

I have yet to see payment by phone go nearly as smoothly as cash or credit card. But maybe the transaction goes smoothly and quickly when I am not behind people using this method of payment.

Now isn't too bad with the biggest difference from pre-covid being that 95% of the mall people are Thai. When the lockdown was first lifted it was really eerie - Terminal 21 at Asok and the BTS station were ghost towns. Maybe 1% of pre-covid and that's probably generous.

I had a 1050 triple in my Sprint. Great engine, smoother than the 4-cyl in my ZRX (but nowhere near the low-end grunt). That triple is one of the best sounding engines imo.

You should not expect any privacy from these so-called "free" online sites for image conversion, faxing, etc. Any personal information on documents you submit will be extracted, stored and perhaps sold. I don't know what information is on these forms but I just wanted to throw this warning/reminder out for consideration. Note that this assumes that TP has some degree of information security (no comment). There's an open-source Photoshop like program that I've been using for over 10 years that will do the conversion - GIMP. It's a download and install so there's no information shared with 3rd parties. Open the PDF page then Save As or Export as jpg document. Also, it's great for editing and complex manipulation of photos.

The behavior of scooter/motorbike riders has changed drastically since I first visited 10 years ago, especially in Bangkok. Now on average the riding is reckless with the delivery guys by far the worst. Many of them ride as if they are daring car drivers to run them over. Before Grab I got the sense that car drivers generally looked out for scooter riders. Now I wonder if more car/truck drivers are apathetic to scooter riders, especially the delivery people. I could see drivers saying to themselves "it's your life, if you want to risk it it's your business, not mine" Condolences to the family of the rider regardless of fault. RIP
