  1. It has nothing to do with morals values but just business.  There are always a past tense and wishful thinking when it comes to Thailand quick rich scheme.

Thai exports depends on the value of the baht ( virtually high) and the affordability of payments of goods with a tumbling rubles (converted to US dollars )

It means that all goods purchased from Thailand are quite expensive. Either the Russians will pay the extra money or reduce their orders for now. I do not see any expansion in hte near future.

  2. One must read between the line here. the purpose is to keep track of  the tourist for many immigration reason such as :

    1. over staying -long term

    2. not doing 90 days reporting

    3. skipping getting a visa extension

    4. criminal action

they will start generating a new black list for the farang tourists. Depending on whether or not a farang is on another black list, Their ordinary action will be either expulsion from the country, taking them to  the back woods and eliminating them or preventing them re-entry to the country again.

it is so simple upfront for a health reason. But It sounds that there must be an interior reason for it.

  3. One must read between the line for going to Thailand.

    1.Pre-departure PCR test--->OK no problem

    2. PCR test on arrival -NO need for vaccinated visitor. only an antigen test is enough

    3. Insurance_ useless - it does not cover quarantine in a hospital but just medical treatment. so if you pay Bht 10,000 / day --you won't get it back.

added to the cost = $300 ins + hospital $2,100

    4. No need any testing after 5 days

    5. App to track you....OK if there is no test..

any scheme set up will work for people returning to Thailand or planning to stay for more than 60 days. Otherwise it is not worth it to visit Thailand now.

  4. this new scheme is like beating a dead horse. It won't matter

They do not need to improve the time because they will not be a lot of  demand for this system.

Just imagine a happy traveler to Thailand will need to take 3 PCR test and wait 5 days for the result. If any of the test detected to be positive, be assured you will be dragged to the hospital for 7 days at a cost of Bht10,000/day... This happy traveler has burnt already 12 days of his vacation between quarantine and hospital .What beach can he enjoy ? and no honey to be with for the night?

I would love to see his face if he is still smiling.

why would any visitor will go through this hassle .? why people insists on visiting Thailand under these circumstances.?

  5. When I read it..I was very happy to come back to Thailand.

    HOWEVER >>>> HOWEVER>>>>>HOWEVER

Reading the in between the lines.

     1. If I need to pre-book days 1 and day 5 at an SHA hotel - what do I do for day 2,3,4?

to me it is a quarantine for 5 days.

2.where the test are administered? at a cost of $150 per test?

    2. if erroneously I tested positive .. how much will it cost me to spend 14 days in a hospital

3, if tested positive on my return to the USA, again I can spend 14 days in the hospital.

adding it all, for a 45 days holidays, I can spend 30 days in a hospital  and spend $3k on nothing.

Whoh!!!!!! what a great vacation.. the cost of the little honeys went way up .

You cannot put the blame on them

I live here. I left in June to come back in November. I checked all the information regarding the entry. I read about the risk to be "interned" only when the first case came up...and that was a few days before departure..

The official agencies should lay it out in all transparency whereas there is no information but the choice between Test&Go (not anymore) quarantine, sandbox

Maybe the travel agency should have told them but the program details is definitely not exhaustive from the official side, at least a month ago

You should check the title and the content of the new campaign: "the trusted destination"

Simply not fair to the tourists and alike.

you said :I live in Thailand"

you can afford the test  and time waiting and even going into  quarantine. you were lucky.

the government will not waste the time to perform PCR test upon arrival.. If infected the next trip is the hospital. that is the rule

these couple made the whole reservation at the same hotel in case of testing positive .

SHA hotel are not equipped to keep infected visitors >their quarantine rooms are usually reserved for the unvaccinated visitors. they are all government rules. changing depending where the winf is blowing.

TUI sells tour packages. the consequence of rules falls on the tourists themselves by doing what we call the "what if " game. They are so so and S0 stupid to drag the whole family to a pandemic place knowing that if one of them get infected they all be quarantine.

Quite true but this seems to be a case of one law for foreigners and another for Thai's. My Thai friend and her daughter came to Thailand to visit family in early December.  Whist she was staying with her mother in Korat her mother became ill and tested positive for Covid. The mother was taken in to hospital but my friend and her daughter were allowed to isolate in her mother's house - obviously at no cost whatsoever.

there is always a double standard between foreigner and thai people.

you can't compare your thai friend experience with foreigner either expat or travelling to Thailand.

  8. "They booked the same hotel for 10 days knowing if quarantine, they will stay at the same hotel."

total ignorance and stupidity. their head is deep in frozen snow.

quarantine rooms and sha rooms are not the same.  different room, different  floors. and

quarantine room are more expensive- set up before travelling

what a wasted idea to travel for the holidays to Thailand.

It is not TUI fault, they sold them a SHA package based on a one day testing and not a quarantine room.. Assuming that they are tested negative they will stay in the same hotel.... Going to the hospital is not TUI fault but Thai government regulation  about infected people .they cannot stay at

    the same hotel.

Let me 55555 on them.  You should have stayed home

  9. travelers to Thailand have totally ignore the consequence of the covid rules.

it is quite impossible for anyone coming to Thailand for 2 weeks vacation and plan to buy hotel reservation or even make travel arrangement to other places in Thailand.

the "CATCH"  is if anyone is tested positive, the next step is a stop at the hospital stay for the duration of the holiday and a one trip to the airport to catch the flight home. - double expenses.

any 2 week visitors should consider the "what if  scenario" when coming to Thailand.

  10. with all the rules

the one day stay at an SHA hotel is a problem if you were tested positive.

SHA hotel are not designed for long-term quarantine.

the next step is the hospital.- that is a given conclusion. - double expenses

you can't plan a trip to Thailand not knowing the result of the first test and now the second test.

Bangkok or Phuket.. does not matter the entry point into Thailand.

  11. Reader are accusing this family for not knowing the rules.

It is because the rules changed again,

This family booked their whole trip at the SHA hotel assuming that if any member tested positive, they will stay at the same hotel.

the new rule is :if tested positive you go to a hospital.

the SHA hotel is not equipped to handle long term quarantine. or it does not have the facility. SO they had to go to the hospital to stay.  double expenses

This Norwegian travel agency does not want to inform the consequence if any traveler tested positive. they will loose the business.

  12. yes they can enter Thailand..

with one more hook.." another PCR test in 5 days."

it will mean that they will need to be quarantine for 5  more days until the 2nd test result comes out.

Let not worry about the proof... there will be always a way in the system to catch the "cheater"

best to leave the quarantine in place even it means that there will be hit on the number of tourism entering Thailand. It is OK

Let the government to look at avenues to improve the economy and the infra structure. One approach is to be friendlier with the USA  and the UK or  the "dirty Farang" countries.

  13. the reality is that the whole world is reacting to this omicron virus.

Many countries are laying plans against the spread of this virus. Tourists will not travel for a while. It is best to assume that the Thai tourism industry will not recover until 2023.

the main issue for Thailand is that they depend heavily on tourism because the country does not have another  business programs to employ their population with decent salary

the Education level is below standard with poor foreign language skills.

  14. The government reacted to the story of the Columbian pilot who contracted the omicron virus.

One has to evaluate his vaccination record. he has received 2 shots of AZ and one booster of Pfizer.

Totally different vaccine composition which could reduce the body immune system

the " pass and go" program needs to consider the type of vaccination taken.  Only MRNA vaccines are consider stronger against any mutation of the virus.

Now ,they are looking at quarantine for 7-10 days for the people entering Thailand.

If Thailand always reacted to every mutation variance, there will be no tourist coming over .The worst part, few airlines will fly to Thailand either case.

  15. it is so stupid to be excited the "Good days are back again"

let rephrase Friday's decision for the fully vaccinated tourists (rich or poor)

    1. you can come but need to retested again.

    2. you need to have  smart phone to download the APP.  Thai App have hacked and personal information has been stolen. Tourist do not want to hassle with government APPs

    3. you need to stay in an ASQ hotel for 2 days minimum or longer depend on how fast the processing time of the lab. How many days to book the ASQ is not clear.

    4. you need to buy the useless health insurance.( why?)

    5. if you go to the beaches, you will waste 2 more days for transportation

6.out of 7-10 holidays.. the time left for holiday is cut down to 2-5 days.

    7. curfew until 11 pm.. where can you go at night? nothing to do

8.no Nana, no Soi cowboy and no Patpung... how fun it is- sex industry is dead.

9 Mountain- no...beautiful park - no , nothing to do

where any tourists will go for fun after a long and expensive airfare to visit Thailand..

NO...tourist  will go another country for fun and enjoy myself.

Yes reopening the country to allow tourists into the country again is the best idea to help the economic going again, it might take a bit of time but is a start.  Reopening for fully vaccinated tourists is the best option, but it should be a straight forward and easy, like for fully vaccinated approval jabs tourists landed in Thailand shouldn’t have any other conditions like having to take a test or quarantine. If fully vaccinated tourists have to go through hassle conditions districts-ions for holidays they will don’t bother, they rather go a country that is hassle free to enjoy their holiday.

    fully agree
