i wonder if this was in any thai language newspapers, i think not !, maybe that page should be printed out and handed to some of the bangkok taxi companys! would sure put a fast halt on that idea!!with every taxi company wanting the same deal!!

3 and half hours to chumphon, then 1 hour 45 mins to andaman club! I left hua hin about 8am and got to chumphon with pleny of time to have some dinner and read the paper while waiting for the mini bus.

The mini bus service i used was fame tour, chumphon-kohtao com. they left chumphon about 1230pm and returned chumphon 7 pm, ready for a night out and drive back in the morning. There is another company opposite the falang bar that does this also!, or you can drive directly to the peer and they have boats going over about every half hour. Hope this helps!!

I think the last time i was there i caught a metered taxi from the lake to a bar was about 150 baht, no meter but i knew that was coming anyway!, next night came out of the hotel near the lake and got in a metered taxi same destination but it was raining! asked him how much he said 300 baht, i explained i caught a taxi same distance last night for 150 baht, answer, yes but now raining!! What a joke!!

On a serious note aren't all taxis supposed to be licensed and a licensed meter taxi is advertising that it is a meter taxi but they are not using there meters which i would have thought is breaking there license terms for that cab, o.k if they dont want to use the meter take the sign off and become a charterd taxi i am sure if the goverment there wanted to they could imply fines for not using the meters and revoke licenses for metered taxis that are not compling with the rules !!, instead of being held to ransom!! ie we demand 100 baht flag down!! simple soloution here i think! you have a metered taxi with the appropiate license, fail to comply will result in license revoked and fined heavily with car impounded until fine paid ! that should be what is happening ! Rant over!

yes they do have immigration services there and the boat ticket is 800 baht return, i caught a mini bus from chumphon 1200 baht return as i could not be bothered to drive the rest of the way, its a lot easyier and stress free than victoria point.

I think what you will find is your wife has to stay in the uk so many days a year to qualify for ilr as i checked when my wife got hers, even if you left for holidays elsewhere "together" she could still only have so many days out of the uk, to be eligible! strange but i think this is the rule which is probaly why she got refused.

I am a little confused can somebody please explain how it is illegal to stay here on a nonn immigrant o multi entry based on marriage, as when i applied for mine i provided all the documents and was issued the visa, which stated multi entry, it did not state however, how long you had to stay out of the country between entrys !! Somebody please??

I was just wandering, i am under 50, have a wife and child here, wife works but under 40000baht, i currently stay here on a nonn o doing 90 days visa runs, how do i get an extension of stay if that is what the visa is intended for. Have Money and can support myself for a good few years to come!!

all though i find most mom and pop stores good for odd items with out having to go to the town to tesco's, some of them really do take the p%ss, i was on koh phangan once and was staying in a cheapo resort some 10 15 mins from the town, now went down to get a 100 baht phone card from a small shop, 150 baht, yes 150 baht written with black marker on a 100 baht phone card talk about ripping people off!!!!

o.k i am a smoker and think this law is silly, owners should have the right to decide if it is non smoking or smoking !! and it should not be forced on all establishments!! you should count yourself lucky! my wife got bumped in our car she got out to inspect and speak to the driver but he just reversed and calmly drove around her and drove off!! She said she did not want to pursue as it might not have been safe, understandable! Thats her story! maybe she reversed into something and wanted to save face!!
