Any talk of “field hospitals”, ie giant sheds with rows of beds where asymptomatic people will be imprisoned for two weeks with a fan if they are lucky, will ensure NOBODY will want to get tested.
Just tell people to isolate at home like every other country

Has anyone purchased a Moderna booster recently and given an actual date / appointment (in BKK)? If so at which hospital?
I bought my Moderna shot in Dec on Shopee to use at Bangkok Hospital. See hospital website for details. All worked fine and I got an appointment immediately. No q at all to get jabbed
A colleague got his at Medpark where you can book with hospital direct

Which region in Chonburi was the first to exhibit rapid rise in Covid cases recently?
Nobody knows as the authorities do not do widespread testing, relying instead on publicity stunts. Eg closing Thanon Bangla in Patong for a day, testing all the employees and “deep cleaning”. All bars open again the next day????

Once again the ridiculous obsession with alcohol. Zero evidence from Omicron ridden countries that alcohol has anything to do with the spread.
Making restaurants stop serving at 2100 is counterproductive as more people cram in earlier.
Nobody has stopped Omicron and these irritating and economically damaging measures will just prolong the pain

I like the politician who compared this to drinking alcohol. Yes it’s a personal choice to drink alcohol, but when people then get in a car and put other people at risk, they get arrested. The unvaccinated should be banned from all public spaces.

He could have said all the bars with reasonable budgets to pay off the police are already serving alcohol in paper cups or (here in Phuket) pretending to be restaurants.
Only the posh restaurants are observing the alcohol ban… -
As per Bangkok Post today, it’s all “may” and “mull” yet again.
Advice to Thai authorities; if you have nothing to say, shut the **** up.

They don’t have much choice do they? Unless like Jo Ferrari, they won’t contribute much to the recovery.
Foreign tourist are another matter. No quarantine is only one step to reopening. So long as the expensive and stressful paperchase (CofE etc, Covid tests, insurance etc etc) are maintained and China won’t allow anyone to travel, numbers will remain low
Who’s really interested in coming to Bkk with an alcohol ban and a curfew??

About time too
Now over to you Prayut. Time to drop the quarantine and the bureaucratic obstacle course (CoE etc) here. But this will be resisted by hoteliers in Bkk and Pkt who get guaranteed income from quarantine

There is no link between FCDO advice and the red list which is run by the Health Dept. It has been clear from the start that there is no coordination between the two depts. So Thailand may still come off the red list later this week
It is widely reported in UK media that the red list will be cut to about 12 countries. On official figures, Thailand would not be in the worst 12, but cynics might think the positive trend in the figures here is convenient for the start of the tourist season

All across Thailand, restaurants and bars are openly selling alcohol in cardboad coffee cups. My local area in Bangkok is packed with drinkers every night. How could the Samui bar owner be so clueless as not to pay plod like everyone else? But in deserted Samui, maybe plod make bigger profits out of the fines.
The environmental cost of all these cardboard cups must be horrendous????

Interesting definition of “reopening” when two weeks hotel quarantine, covid tests and numerous other onerous requirements will still be needed.

Correct me if I'm wrong - If you are fully vaccinated, you can travel to Thailand and spend 10 days in an AMBER country on the way back - does not have to be Green - and you don't ned to self-isolate.
Not quite. Rules pasted below. 10 days in amber country means you can quarantine at home rather than hotel, but it coild still be 8 days unless you opt for the (rather expensive) test to release on day 5. So potentially 18 days before you are released into the UK plus of course 15 days stuck in a hotel on return here.
Note also that vaccinations delivered in Thailand are NOT recognised in the UK, so even if vaccinated here the rules for unvaccinated will apply

That’s likely screwed my plans to see my family for Xmas.
Not surprised at the decision (Indonesia, Philippines already red) but timing is odd when infections have likely peaked here. Lots of politics involved, eg India amber due to lobbying by well connected Brits of Indian heritage.
Much better to unquarantine for ten days in say Dubai than be locked in a <deleted>ty hotel near Heathrow. The occasional Thai direct flights will probably stop now anyway so Emirates will be one of the better options.
Not sure why people are knocking the Embassy on this. It’s nothing to do with them. Decisions are made by the Health Ministry in London.
As others have pointed out, as Thailand has effectively operated a red list policy for the whole of the rest of the world (2 weeks expensive hotel quarantine) and still does so even though delta is rampant, Thailand can hardly complain

The plucky Ms Milli should thank the govt and plod. They just added millions to her social media following (me included) and boosted her career.
My sympathies are with plod. They get criticised for not helping people literally dying in the street of covid, when any fair minded person would accept that with their limited resources they had to prioritise pursuing serious 18 year old criminals like Milli.

Within a day, the full opening in 120 days promised by the PM was modified to full opening only for provinces where 70% of the locals are vaccinated. Since a complex web of different policies for different provinces with internal borders is unenforceable, this will eventually be modified again to islands with direct air links, ie Phuket and Samui.
Govt has also announced that any opening can be instantly suspended if cases tick up eg a limit of just 90 cases in Phuket.
This announcement has nothing to do with opening Thailand and everything to do with the govt trying to shift the headlines away from the stuttering vaccine rollout

The daily numbers are clearly understated. Even people wanting a test can’t get one and who would want a test if it means being imprisoned in a sports stadium for two weeks plus, quite likely in a remote province?
People will only get tested when they get ill.
The constant references to the medical conditions of those who died are a form of victim blaming and insensitive to their families. Just stop

Anyone fancy two weeks confined in an army “field hospital” if they test positive?
BP today reporting police hunted down three people who absconded from a field hospital and forced them back, also threatening them with prosecution. (Obviously just ordinary people not hisos).
The “field hospital” threat will deter most people from getting tested, thus ensuring the daily figures stay low and govt narrative of being in control of the third wave can be maintained.- 1

Er sorry? The usual silo operations in government not talking to each other.Ridiculous to have a curfew in Bangkok over Songkran when most of the population will drain out to the provinces anyway.

Over one million doses of Moderna vaccine arrive in Thailand on Thursday

Nothing unfair. The offers of Moderna at Bkk H and Medpark were widely advertised and available to all at the regular price.
Some people fell for the scam from some hospitals of prepaying and then waiting months. Caveat emptor
