This has been the case since last March. Number of travel bubbles actually started with Thailand? Zero.
Bubbles can just about work between two countries with low infection rates and no land borders, but many bubbles started have been cancelled

He said the 14-day quarantine period would remain in places for arrivals from countries where the Covid-19 virus has mutated, which is a global concern.
Well given that most countries don’t have facilities to test for mutations, how will they know?
Hopefully the UK will not be on the list as I may want to go back in summer to get vaccinated and take care of stuff

I rang BNH. They say no vaccines until May at the earliest. No brand details, but likely Astra Zeneca. No price details. No plan, obviously.
Govt would not want the private hospitals to have it before the govt’s mass programme gets rolling in June. They don’t want the media reporting low risk hi-sos and farangs getting it before high risk but poor Thais
I think it will be Q3 for private sector hospitals. I’ll probably wait for J and J so it’s just one shot

Urged? I thought he was in charge.
There is no sense in restricting private hospitals from delivering vaccines as allowing it will relieve the burden on the public scheme and get to herd immunity quicker

Best to get a direct flight if possible, though I am not sure how often THAI is flying these days
SQ via Singapore would be another option

“He assured that the Ministry of Public Health will still achieve its target of administering 63 million doses of vaccine to Thai people within this year.”
They are still sticking to the claim they can deliver 10m vaccines a month starting June. Guess they’ve been tapping into the medical ganja supplies...- 4

So even if all 30 clot cases were caused by the vaccine, that’s a 0.0000006% chance of a clot.
Bigger chance of getting sick from having alcohol sprayed at you...
-
Well as of today, the PM and Cabinet won’t be vaccinated after all because 0.0000006% of Europeans getting AZ have had blood clots (no evidence of links to the vaccine) so they’ve halted the programme again.
You couldn’t make it up

Tourists on yachts will be able to quarantine for 14 days on their vessels offshore.
The “digital economy expert” seems a tad confused about how yachts work. If the quarantine is completed offshore, then there is no point in a wristband, never mind that there likely won’t be a phone signal.
Thailand killed its own developing charter yacht market years ago by imposing a punitive luxury tax on boats, so all the charter companies moved to Malaysia. No yotties will come back on this basis.
Why does the Thai media insist on reporting this rubbish which (for once) does not appeared to be linked to TAT

October is just about when the 3 months would have expired from most potential tourists being vaccinated, so according to today’s news they still wouldn’t be let without a really long quarantine...
-
Top headline in Bkk Post today says all restrictions will be lifted by October. Er...
Govt also claiming success with villa quarantine with 58 (yes 58) European visitors who arrived from Indonesia now having completed quarantine. Why on earth would European tourists travel to LoS via Indonesia?? It’s about as believable as the planeload of Chinese “tourists” last year who were seemingly about to take off for weeks...

more and more people are refusing the vaccin, even the CEO from Pfizer refused to take it himself.
He has taken in. The only reason he didn’t take it earlier is he didn’t want to cut in line.https://www.axios.com/pfizer-ceo-coronavirus-vaccine-e7599596-a658-41ed-82fd-5389347c3f2b.html

Letting people with money buy the vaccine privately is win win. Takes some load and cost from the public system.
i guess they will wait till late 2021 to avoid accusations of letting the elite jump the q.
I hope we can buy J and J - effective and single shot only

I am sure Ms Obdam is a great person, but in what way does winning a beauty contest qualify someone to raise awareness of mental health?
The relentless pressure on Thai women to look good is almost certainly a driver of mental ill health (look at the number of cosmetic surgery clinics in Thailand), so a beauty queen seems a notably poor choice of brand ambassador

last para of the linked article says it all:
“When the clients are influential people, if there’s a case of rape, assault or even death, police officers will often give more weight to the clients who hire the pretties because they’re of higher status,” Supensri Pungkoksung, director of the Social Equality Promotion Foundation, told This Week in Asia.”
So no doubt this will be swept under the carpet

Thailand urges calm after death of COVID-19 vaccine recipient
in Thailand News

Expect a lot of hyped up media scare stories after anyone who has had the vaccine dies, never mind there is no connection to the vaccine.
Vaccines will save millions of lives, get economies working again and cause statistically insignificant serious side effects. But vaccine hesitancy fueled by irresponsible media coverage and (in Europe at least) politicians trying to create a smokescreen to cover their incompetence, will cause many thousands of unnecessary deaths
