The first step calls for expansion of the capacity of the BMA’s hospitals and assembly of field type hospital extensions, to accommodate more than 5,500 patients, up from the current 1,218.
If infections increase, the second step calls for non-severe cases to be quarantined and treated in hotels, to be arranged by the BMA.
In the third step, the City Hall must set up a field hospital, modelled on the one in Samut Sakhon, using the facilities at Bangkok Arena, the Thai-Japanese sports stadium and the Bang Khun Thian hospital.
They wouldn't be doing this if they were confident in the current prevention measures.

It is just incredibly incredible that daily cases outside prisons are around 2000.... every single day.
The virus must be doing a 90 day report to be controlled with such a precision.
Imagine if they tested x10 what they are doing per day at the moment. Then it would be 20,000 per day.

No. Lived in New Zealand for 23 years and spent the last 27 in Asia.
If I want a low salary, expensive cost of living and a high tax rate, I'll go back to New Zealand.

Take away the prison numbers and it's clearly not exponential. The doommongers have been saying for over a month now that numbers are going exponential yet here we are with general population cases still in the 2000s.
And the lockdown fanatics are also out in force in this thread. But 6,853 of today's cases were of people already locked down so how would locking down the general population have made any difference? Should the prison officers be working from home?
So why would you take away the prison numbers? Don't they count too?

That graph looks like an exponential graph to me.

Sinovac.

Let me get this right. They say that they will inoculate a million a month from June, is that initial dose or fully vaccinated?
By my calculator, it will take approx 60/70 months to vaccinate the whole population.
Am I missing something here?
I would say around 50 months. They won't be jabbing the whole population.

Really? Take out the unfortunate prison outbreaks and rates seem fairly stable. Otherwise why start relaxing the restrictions as they have done today? Hopefully you're being unduly pessimistic!
Stable at around 2K a day. Is that a good thing?

i read that alcohol kills the virus. You probably didn't need to get those shots at all
It pays to double up. Alcohol and Pfizer. If the virus can get through it, fair play to it.

1 day before my first Pfizer shot I had a bottle of wine and two beers. An hour after the first shot I was tucking into 8 beers.
Second shot yesterday (Monday). Had 10 beers on Sunday night but didn't have any yesterday after the second shot.

The facility is slated to open with capacity for 1,200, and have the ability to expand up to several thousand in total.
Because of recently begun ramped up outreach testing for COVID in Bangkok aimed at identifying and quashing emerging outbreaks of the virus, Thai public health officials have been planning for the prospect that they might need 1,300+ new hospital beds per week to keep with the potential crush of new positive cases.
But those kinds of numbers have not been showing up yet, as total COVID hospitalizations in Thailand peaked at just above 30,000 in early May, and since then have marked five consecutive days of sub-30,000 totals.

If it is under control, why do they keep setting up these field hospitals?

Ploy Chermarn under fire after catching Covid while island-hopping
Popular Thai actress Ploy Cherman was facing heavy online criticism Monday after reports that the star contracted Covid-19 from beach trips during the past two weeks.
With more than 116,000 mentions within hours, netizens were using the hashtag #พลอยเฌอมาลย์ (Ploy Cherman) on Twitter and other social media platforms to call out the actress for abusing her privileges as a celebrity to go on holiday while many are dying or struggling to make make ends meet during the third wave of the coronavirus.
As if she cares what the peasants think.
