  1. I was claiming he was an illegitimate President? Was I talking in my sleep? Why are you stalking me in my bedroom?
  2. It's a good thing that Trump isn't given to hyperbole or I might be tempted to doubt him. Still, ee could probably learn a lot by subscribing to the professional version of Politico. Of course, he would have to read it also which might be a bridge too far.
  3. You think Merriam-Webster changed the definition. What don't you understand about the fact that there is a word to describe the victory Trump won in the popular vote. It's called a plurality. US the number of votes cast for a candidate who receives more than any other but does not receive an absolute majority. "his winning plurality came from creating a reform coalition" https://www.google.com/search?q=plurality+definition&oq=plurality+definition&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOdIBCDU2ODlqMGo5qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 You'll note that it's an American usage so maybe that's why you're not familiar with the word. Just guessing.
  4. I've got some exciting news for you. Trump addressed taxes in his 2017 tax bill. Before the impeachments and Covid. Try again
  5. Comments like this are just so....I'll be polite and not characterize it. But what sort of alternative universe do you hail from? Ya think if CBS made this claim and it wasn't true, that conservative news outlets wouldn't be all over it? Maybe they are. Maybe you should try to offer evidence that this is the case instead of the usual reflexive denialism.
  6. Carried interest is the cut that hedge fund, private equity and venture capital investors take from their funds’ profits, which is taxed as capital gains and therefore at a far lower rate than regular income. Carried interest has long been criticized as a giveaway to wealthy financiers. Opponents of the exemption include Republican and Democratic lawmakers and prominent business leaders including Warren Buffett and JPMorgan Chase’s Jamie Dimon. https://archive.ph/L3NtM#selection-973.0-983.162 Let's see if it happens. He actually campaigned on abolishing it during his 2016 run.
  7. Maybe vast bureaucracies are not mentioned in them but the permission to create them certainly is. And just as these bureaucracies were created in accordance with the Constitution, so they can also be dismantled according to the Constitution. If the United States were a pure democracy, then your final comment could be legitimate. The problem is, the US is not a pure democracy. In fact, it has a Constitution which limits that democracy So, elected government are not free to carry out a political program as they please in violation of the Constitution just because they were democratically elected.
  8. I suspect it's to prevent the transmission of various avian diseases.
  9. And Speaker Johnson and Rep Lauren Boebert should be banished from Congress for participating in this corruption. "The office of Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert, who accused Politico of "grift" on social media Wednesday, paid more than $7,000 to Politico LLC for "publications and reference material" according to the House Statement of Disbursement for the first quarter of 2024. The same records show the Office of the Speaker of the House paid over $9,000 and the Republican-led House Committee on Energy and Finance paid over $58,000 to Politico LLC that quarter." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-politico-payments-fact-check/
  10. I should add that you shouldn't tell this to Illis Dean. He posted an outdated image showing Trump with about 51% of the vote Don't disillusion him.
  11. Here's the definition of marority that you are referring to: the greater quantity or share the majority of the time That's the comparative version of "great" used in the definition. And it's used to encompass 2 items. But in the case of the election, there are more than 2 groups of voters. So it really doesn't apply. Unless you wan to organize them into 2 groups. Those who voted for Trump and those who didn't. In that case, it's not the Trump voters who turn out to be in the majority. Now if majority meant the greatest number, which is the superlative form of great, then you would have a point. But it didn't, so you don't.
  12. As for the nonsense about government subsidies to Politico: It was for subscriptions. In the case of USAid $24000. But, yes, it's part of a sinister plot. And for that reason, I believe that Rep Lauren Bobert and Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House, should be expelled from the House of Representatives.
  13. A good reason not to take up the offer is that Congress could well reject paying these people. Originally, it was cast as a buyout. But it's not that since a buyout is an upfront payment accompanied by termination of employment.
  14. Maybe you're not a native speaker of English? If you don't believe me, will you believe Merriam-Webster? majority noun a: a number or percentage equaling more than half of a total a majority of voters https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/majority
  15. An unlinked piece of text that includes an image of the mysterious website that claims to accurately calculate the effects of Musk's team on the deficit. Here you betray no understand of what constitutes legitimate evidence
  16. And what was really bizarre about your original quote in this subthread is that blazemaster was engaged in his usual pastime of making personal insults instead of invoking reason or evidence against what I had written. And yet somehow, you found fault with my reply.
  17. Another mindreader.
  18. No, he won a plurality. A majority would be 50% +1
  19. DOGE staffer resigns after racist social media posts resurface. Marko Elez, a 25-year-old software engineer, resigned from his role in Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after racist and extremist social media posts were uncovered.Elez had access to a sensitive Treasury system processing trillions in payments, sparking concerns about government oversight. https://www.fox5ny.com/news/doge-staffer-resigns-racist-posts
  20. He won a plurality. Not a majority.
  21. If you're referring to the image link, of course it doesn't work as a link. Aseannow doesn't seem to allow for that anymore. Anyway I copied the image from the screen and pasted it in the article. And there isn't supposed to be a link to the article, if that's what you're referring to. It's a rewrite. Look at what Social Media does in the World News Forum
  22. The purported objective of DOGE was to alleviate the financial burden on taxpayers by targeting "waste, fraud, and abuse." I contended that this initiative was destined for failure, as Musk and his associates seemed entirely unaware of the mechanisms behind federal government expenditures. While my previous assertions were accurate, I must acknowledge a misjudgment on my part. It should have been evident to me at that time, and is now abundantly clear, that the statements made by Musk and Trump regarding their actions are fundamentally misleading, including their professed motivations. The ignorance and disorder are indeed tangible, yet it is crucial to recognize the fundamental intent behind their actions. What is currently unfolding in America can be characterized as an attempted autogolpe. Readers from Latin America are likely familiar with this term. An autogolpe, or "self-coup," occurs when a legitimately elected leader exploits their authority to consolidate power, thereby dismantling legal and constitutional limitations. Are Musk and Trump endeavoring to execute an autogolpe in this context? Undoubtedly. Furthermore, they appear to have the unwavering support of every Republican member in both the House and the Senate. Source Paul Krugman@substack MOD EDIT: 27. 23. Good thing the Republicans would never resort to such low tactics: Vance pointed to a carton of eggs and remarked, “Yes, buddy. Want some eggs? Let’s talk about eggs. Because these guys actually eat about 14 eggs every single morning.” He further stated, “Eggs, when Kamala Harris took office, were short of $1.50 a dozen. Now a dozen eggs will cost you around $4.” Read more at: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/international/world-news/after-jd-vances-egg-price-blunder-donald-trump-takes-to-pennsylvania-grocery-store-vows-to-tackle-rising-costs/articleshow/113619078.cms?utm_source=contentofinterest&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=cppst https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/international/world-news/after-jd-vances-egg-price-blunder-donald-trump-takes-to-pennsylvania-grocery-store-vows-to-tackle-rising-costs/articleshow/113619078.cms?from=mdr
  24. Let's face it. He isn't all that popular. He didn't even win a majority of the vote. Harris was a weak candidate. The Republican margin in the House actually fell. If it wasn't for the fact of their over-the-top gerrymandering in North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Ohio, the Democrats would have a majority there.
  25. The comment was demented. Not calling the person that. And you've got to be kidding if you think that name calling is a Democratic problem. Have you ever heard of a fellow named Donald Trump? And what exactly did I lose? I'm dealing with someone who offers only personal comments when I offer arguments and evidence.
