The simple answer is none, as another poster pointed out there is so much BS in this thread

There are businesses that have significantly benefited from this economic climate.

Most business owners who were heavily digital (or adapted digitally) saw their companies grow.

    -Ecommerce

    -Apps

    -Online Sellers & Delivery

    -Anything related to digital

    -Digital Agencies

-Digital Healthcare (& other services that have gone digital)

    -Used cars

    and the list goes on...

This is not how people get salaried in this country. For example, wife is eyeing a job in a Thai company that would cut her salary by 80%. However, the monthly commission ranges between 200k to half a million baht per month, even in this economy. My wife's English is very average, but she has sales skills that many Thais simply don't have.

The OP is looking for telesales. I would strongly advise him to go this route and not waste time paying above average salary because he will get a lemon. Good sales people love working for commission.

Defo will setup an incentivized commission basis, no doubt it will work better.

Initially as we are just launching I want to make sure telesales gets enough leads to be able to call 5-6 days a week non-stop, which shouldn't be a problem. Initially will hire based on salary for 1-2 months (guaranteed income) for that reason, while I understand performance will be down compared to commission basis.

Good luck to your wife! Performance based salaries tend to incentive employees to improve overtime so her skill will keep growing.

A side topic, but for those impressed with the Wise business, they are listing on the London Stock Exchange in the near future. They claim to have been profitable since 2017, but I haven’t seen the financials yet. A Fintech may be a bit pricey, but worth a look at least.

Interesting to know thanks. They'll just keep growing as the world gets more digital and the old banking system gets competition with modernized players like Wise.

You should be aware how Thai companies operate.

They pay the absolute minimum required plus commission.

    Where are you located?

In Bangkok. Yes I'm currently in the process of learning. Probably will have a 3rd party agency help with recruitment.

My current team for my main company is remote and we have employees from 5 countries (& no issues) but with this new ecommerce company we'll have to hire locally as it's for the Thai market (+ legally have to hire a minimum of 4).

Ultimately my plan was to find a good PA who can help me navigate these new waters along with work related stuff to the brand.

We do not plan to hire for minimum salary, but rather a bit more. For ex. paying 25% more for a good telesales person can easily pay off within a few days with upselling.

  5. Doing Thai only hire initially (due to 1:4 expat rule) for our new beauty ecommerce brand and I'm looking at online sides but it seems the prices are given much higher than what Thai folks suggest.

    1) Personal Assistant (A smart one who speaks English to make this whole thing easier)
    2) Telesales (better than average, as there will be upselling required)
    3) Support Agent (messenger/line/shopping support)
    4) Facebook/Ad Video Editor
    5) Influencer Outreach

    Thanks

  6. Hello,

Planning to open a Thai limited company in Bkk and we need a very good (I don't mind paying extra for peace of mind) law firm who can:

    - Setup + Structure properly (to protect myself & investment)

    - Help with hiring local employees (4, as necessary by law for 1 foreigner)

    - Help with work visa

    - And other misc items related to opening a company

Again, ideally want a good reputable law firm that knows what they're doing & has worked with expats (for structuring & all that).

    Thanks

It's a good idea to have a bike for exactly what you describe. Ride 2km to your favorite coffee place, do a little shopping, etc.

I live in that area and I have a bike and I use it constantly for exactly what you describe.

    BUT

The roads here are dangerous and many drivers and riders are crazy and/or ignore the rules.

When I arrived in Bangkok, many years ago, I thought I will never drive/ride anything in this town. Then I used motorcycle taxis constantly for about two years. That was great for learning. I learned the roads and all the shortcuts in my area. I learned where they (illegally) made u-turns, ignored red lights, rode against the traffic, etc. I also learned that they almost never rush when the light turns green - because there likely will be bikes and cars who ignore the red light from the other way.

I absorbed this for a long time until it was "normal" with few surprises. I don't remember how long it took to do this, but it took some time, I would guess at least several months.

Then I bought my own bike (a KDX 200 at that time) and I started to ride in Bangkok. I knew how to ride a bike from back home and by now I had experience about traffic in Bangkok. I still ride here, now since more than 20 years, and I never had an accident that hurt.

Recently a business partner was convinced by his friend to rent a motorcycle. Right on the first day he had  an accident. How did it happen? He wanted to just ride once around the block to get a feel for the bike. And because he wasn't familiar with the area (on a bike) he didn't find the way back from Sukhumvit Soi 6 to Soi 19. Because there are no legal u-turns for a long time. He got nervous, he got more nervous, and he crashed. In this case I am pretty sure the problem was not so much his riding skills but more that he didn't know where to go and he got nervous and bad things happen in such situations.

    A) If you know already how to ride a bike then learn about riding in Bangkok - by using lots of motorcycle taxis.

    B) If you don't know how to ride a bike then better learn that thoroughly somewhere else - not on Bangkok roads!

If A and B is done then get a small bike - like 125 to 150cc. They are fast enough and small enough to get through traffic. Personally I like a "proper bike" with gears and clutch. It's not more difficult to ride these things when you know what you are doing. ABS is nice but not really necessary - if you know how to ride a bike.

If you rent a bike it seems there are shops with good prices. But be aware that some shops make the big money from exaggerated repair cost. A few scratches and it can get expensive. In reality the plastic parts of many small bikes are relative cheap. But put a scratch on a "big" bike expect a huge bill. Those parts are actually really expensive.

Thanks for this very informative & detailed post. Yes I've ridden many times before and I believe I'm a defensive driver and "smart" when it comes to riding, won't get nervous etc. Might just ride at night-time for the first few days to get used to it easier and then start riding day-time too.

    Thank you!

    Why not rent/buy a car?

A million times safer than a motorbike.

Traffic & parking. The reason I'd like a motorbike in the first place over Grab is that it's much quicker. Quick hop on, go to emproium, hop back on, go to 7/11, hop back on, go to XYZ etc.  Cheap to rent so even if I use it only once every few days it pays off.

I'd still utilize Grab/Taxis often but this is more of quick conveniences or when multiple stops are required.

  9. Looking to rent a motorbike in BKK which would mostly be used for Suhkumvit area and not that often.

    Good/Bad Idea?

    Difficult or easy?

    Things I should know?

    Why not grab/taxi?

Because it can be a hassle. I work from home and if I wanna grab breakfast somewhere gotta wait for the grab, sometimes give directions (map is wrong), then on the way back wait again, and if i wanna stop on the way home at a mall to buy a few things, stop here, there etc it becomes an inconvenience.

  10. Hello,

We are entering the Thai ecommerce market and are looking for a 1-2h consultation (& on-going) to answer questions like

Do Thais buy heavily from FB Ads?

Would selling directly on our site work?
Does customer pay shipping or we do (& affect on conversion rates)?

    What if we skip Shopee/Lazada?

Do Thais opt-in for subscription based services?
and many more of those types of questions.

Who can I reach out to who has actual experience (& data of their own) who can help answer these questions?

I don't mind paying a premium as long as it's an experienced ecommerce person.

I don't see the appeal of a Rolex. If you wear one, everyone thinks it's a fake, If you convince them it's the real thing, they'll chop your hand off and run. What's the benefit? Isn't it better to have some other exclusive brand that fewer people know?

Perhaps it's not about what others think but rather for your own pleasure.

Update regarding the situation... Rolex ADs are not allowed to verify if a Rolex is original and you have to go to the service center and say you want it serviced (if you ask to verify, they won't).

Seller did not want to do that, which was suspicious. Suddenly replies got slower, excuses due to "covid" risk  and store standards, despite wanting to do it a week ago for another watch. Told me to buy it and go to the center right away after to verify, comes with a moneyback guarantee.... SURE LOL, more like a "runaway" guarantee where seller runs with your money.

Went to the AD and bought a new authentic one.

  12. Hello,

I am looking to buy a used Rolex from a specific person however I would like to check if it's original or not before purchasing as there's a ton of fakes in Thailand.

I called Rolex dealers and they said their policy does not allow them.

Is there a solution to this?

    Thanks

  13. Find it a lot more difficult to find good clothing shops compared to the US. Zara is pretty much one of the very few options (at least that I'm aware).

Not a fan of clothing that's very loose, do prefer a nice fit.

Fashionable shirts, polos, jeans, pants, jean shorts etc one could wear to nice rooftops, clubs, etc.

Also open to more expensive shops.

    Thanks in advance
