I have found on a few sites, one was even a site run by a law office on Koh Samui, the following:
...single entry tourist visas. These used to be valid for a stay of up to 60 days but from October 1 they are valid for a stay of 90 days. They cannot be extended.
Can anyone tell me if this is true under the new Visa rules?
The visa is still valid for 30 days but you can go out of Thailand at the end of it and stay for a maximum of 90 days with any number of re-entries. Within a period of 6 months.
After that, you'll have to be out of Thailand for 90 days before being able to come back...

Well, a few months back, we wre stopped at midnight with my Thai colleague after going through a red light, he was driving and well we proposed some money.
He did not accept.
According to my Thai colleague it was because an officer was present.
Well, Thaksin is gone, it should get better...
So what happened. did your colleague get a court summons instead?
MM
Right and he paid the fine. Nobody understands to these days...

It was all very bizarre, and quite an amusing tale to tell when I got back home. Has anyone else had any similar experiences, funny or not so funny?

It is possible to get a mortgage providing that you are prepared to accept the following conditions:
a) Pay 2.25% above MLR (currently 7.25%) which means you pay 9.5% APR
'
Pay 50 to 70% deposit on the propertyc) Pay the loan back in 8 years maximum
To be honest you will be better off paying cash and when you factor int hat a Thai will get the same money for MLR - 2.25% (meaning 5% APR) while you pay 9.5% then it basically makes it that much more distasteful.
These conditions are negotiable, at least the 2 first ones.
I borrowed money from SCB not so long ago to buy a house, at following conditions:
a) MLR, at that time 6.5% fixed for the duration of the loan
'
deposit 30% of the value of the housec) yes, 8 years

I don't see the point in holding-on to a relationship just for the sake of being together for a number of years, or because of kids
Right, you probably do not have kids...
But parents are the first teachers............... if you stay for the wrong reasons in a relationship, your kids are bound to notice it, or maybe get used to the idea. Kids are smarter than we think. They can sense these things. They might not understand it currently, but the input is there. (The thought and understanding process takes a bit of time. It comes with maturity.)
So let me rephrase my comment, do you have kids?
