  1. Thanks for your replies guys.

cdnvic: Previously -same as you- I was using only freeware for everything,

which maybe fine to a certain extent, but I still believe that commercial

software is somewhat better than free programs. You pay nothing, you get nothing.

With today's nasty stuff like rootkits, etc. out there, I think buying a commercial

    software in worth the money.

    higgy88: Good resource, thanks

richard: ZoneAlarm is high on my list but I'm still somewhat undecided between

    ZA and Bitdefender.

  2. Hi,

I am currently running Zonealarm Pro, Spy Sweeper and Kaspersky Antivirus as

security applications. With every new version, these programs become more and

more complex and increasingly interfere with each other by blocking each others activities.

I know it is a matter of proper configuration but who wants to read manuals which

are 200 pages ore more? :o Now, I am thinking to switch to a all-in-one suite

    to avoid these hassles.

I have read quite a number of reviews about these suites, which often have conflicting

information (maybe a matter of who sponsors most :D ) about which one is the best value

for money. Finally, I narrowed it down to Bitdefender, Zonelabs and Kaspersky but would like

to hear some other opinions on this. I don't like Norton and McAfee -although they have mostly

good reviews- but for me they are far to heavy on the memory.

    What do you think?

    cheers,

    crockett

  3. Hi all,

I'm on True Wireless 2 Mbps. Since 3 or 4 days I suddenly have problems to connect to

the internet. The strange thing is that -while it won't even connect to Yahoo or Google- I have

no problems to connect to Thaivisa. I even did internet banking yesterday with HSBC Singapore

without any problems. Seems that connections to Europe or the US have a problem.

Does anybody have a similar experience or is it just me? :o

  4. The better solution is to buy MS Windows XP official. You can get it now for special price 5990 Baht.

And you get huge discount when you upgrade to Vista....

Of course you also need to buy MS Office Professional, which cost around 29.000 Baht (O I forget for poor teachers they have MS Office student and teacher version cost only 7400 Baht)

    smile

good advice ... at 34.990 bht

    smile

No money, no honey :o Maybe OpenOffice 2.04 is the best solution then.

  5. For those with true ADSL, you can use a feature called True Turbo On Demand, which gives you a special login to get guaranteed 2mbit download, 512kbps upload speeds for 25 baht per hour. When you don't need the speed, use your regular login as usual.

Quite interesting. I might give that a try. :o

  6. Thanks astral,

I can see the MAC address when I access the router, no problem here.

Just before I talked to the True helpline. They told me to enter the last 10 digits instead of

the last 5 of the MAC address as WEP key. I'll try that later when I'm home.

If this does not work, I might come back to Etherchange.

  7. Thanks richard, actually I do not need to open the router because I can see the MAC address in the status window when accessing the router. But still, I am unable to connect. The True server simply

won't accept the new MAC address as WEP key. Guess I'll need to check with True again.

  8. Richard,

No, I did not flash new firmware into the router. When it went dead, I took the thing to the True shop in CP Tower, Silom. The guy there told me that, since I got the router more than one month ago, they cannot do anything and I need to take it to their service agent for repair. The service agent is a small company called Astra on Paholyothin Road. The guy there replaced the PCB while I was sitting next to him.
