I meet the requirements for Thai PR under two categories but… 1) my oral/written Thai is inadequate. Can this be overcome somehow? 2) I will start a partnership company. Website says it is much easier to get a work permit for PR holders but doesn’t give details. Can I run the business?

That's great. The only inconvenience is that I now have to move there too. Not a big fan of distant relationships!

The thing is the average house price in my gated community is 12mil. And this behavior is too common everywhere regardless.

Have you noticed Thais like to use the space for purposes other than parking their cars in. Consequently rows of cars parked on the street making a 3-point-turn hard also affecting visitors/short-time street parking. Is this another example of “me first” mentality? Does it irk you too?

Not a fan of loans sharks, but… 1) she sought their services. 2) she was grateful to them for helping her out. 3) she agreed to pay to a schedule. 4) she did not keep her end of the deal. No sympathy for her. If loan sharking is illegal, she engaged willingly in the act, so police should not help her out.

My Ford Everest (????) has been ok. Two year old now. Had to change the battery a couple of weeks ago. A little surprising. Couple of minor annoying stuff but overall a good car.

Thanks Joe. I am employed here in Thailand so I get monthly salary exceeding 40K same as a Thai person (tax, social security etc). Do I still need my embassy involved?

Being forced to retiring after 5 years on Smart visa at the end of the year. Married to Thai with child. We'd appreciate recommendation on switching to a suitable visa and when it should be done. current monthly salary satisfies visa requirement. do not have 400k or 800k in my personal bank account, but can transfer. Intend to form a company with wife and friend. No other employees. Would you recommend I switch to another visa (marriage, PR, other?) now before I finish up 31dec22, or should I wait until it runs out?

The average Thai isn’t intelligent enough to workout risk factors or foresight. You need to scare them in order to get them to understand. Wearing mask is a good example.

Parents prostituting their little girls or boys here is not too different from what TAT is doing.

Lack of planning and forward thinking are signs of low intelligence. In my experience average Thai has low IQ. Combine that with low drive and laziness you get what we have now in Thailand.
