America is seriously deleted up now. Santa Monica where i grew up looks like New Delhi now with all the homelessness. America is doing a great job. unrecognizable now to how i remember it. self entitled twits looking to infect others.
Agree with most of your assessments but Calif. hardly represents or reflects Americana in any shape or form. It can break away, literally or metaphorically, anytime and the union will be better off.

Heard that Buriram is moving its immigration office coming Tuesday. Any details on that?

Their Facebook page seems to say something about that, although I don't think the Chang Arena branch office is affected by it. What I don't understand is why is their FB page all in Thai? Do they have that many Thais looking to extend their visas?

I came up to Buriram this weekend to catch a United game (misinformed that there was one but they're actually away... but that's another story). While staying at the Amari next to the stadium, I learned that there was an immigration office in the same complex. So I decided to try getting an extension to my visa waiver entry earlier in Jan. I took the 2 minute walk to the Buriram Castle mall where the office is located hidden in an alley behind KFC. As I approached the door, it' was so quiet that I thought it was closed. I walked into the smallish office about 10:45 with 4 others ahead of me with 1 officer manning the desk. The middle aged male officer was cordial, professional and very efficient. My turn came in about 40 minutes and was out the door with my extension in less than 10 minutes from the time I was called. Nothing to fill out and no copies to make! They do everything for you! I had more trouble buying a bus ticket than the "visa" extension. I might even come back up to Buriram for future extensions, as the hotel and the surroundings are also very pleasant to spend a couple of days in. And also to eventually catch a damn game.
Couple of interesting things noticed: The IO didn't have a barrier like other desks and wasn't even masked. ???? One half of his desk was strewn with no less than 4 dozen stamps of varying sizes and he can probably pick out the one he needed with his eyes closed. This guy was good!

Naive, uneducated, and short-sighted are some phrases that popped into my head. 'Always happy to get a little cash right now' is the small thinkin mentality that's keeping them underdeveopled. They have no idea how economy works.

Let's go, 40!
I think 40 is a very nice number all parties can live with.

Not bad for a small nation with a total of 35 Olympic medals of which 10 were gold. That lone Tokyo 2021 karate gold won by Ms Panipak was a great achievement considering big sporting country like USA has not won any karate gold ever in Olympic history.
Small nation? What are you smoking? You put Thailand in Europe, it's a MASSIVE country - both in terms of land mass and population! Are you Singaporean? Now Singapore is small, if that gives you any perspective. We don't care about Karate. Who in the first world gives a rat's ass about karate? They don't even show is on TV in the US and I'm sure no one in western Europe either.

Who really give a rat’s ass whether Americans are watching Thailand sport best.
Funny.. look up who really pays to get the Olympic Games happen in large part? US pays more in TV rights than all other countries combined! No one disputes US is the largest sporting/TV market. Do you really think we care who watches the NFL or MLB outside of the US? We don't look to be validated by anyone. Thailand does. That's the difference.

What happen to these tables? ????

Don't worry, Thai fans. Whatever sport Thailand may be good ???? at, there are ZERO Americans watching the event or heard about it, let alone give a rat's ass about it. There is a big neighboring country in your part of the world that's making a donkey's rear end of themselves EVERY day and your embarrassment registers in no one's radar.

I've witnessed tour operators (speed boat crew/jet ski operators/taxi mafia/etc.) berating on tourists more than enough times to rate it "satisfied" myself. And that's probably being generous. Not's not accounting for the the arrogance and rudeness from the bureaucrats (cops/IOs/etc).

"Under the third that would mean they couldn't accept tourists permanently."
Is that permanent permanent or temporary permanent? ????
What about restaurants/bars getting busted 6, 7, 8 times?

When I see that face, I automatically go into a laughter but not this time. ????????
Fudge! This is not good. After failing to get on a plane on 11/1 because the COE never came, my excitement to get TP earlier today lasted exactly about 12 hours when I read this. If they scrap test&go, I'd likely throw in the towel and head to the border to get me a fine Latina who can make me Tacos.

This guy seems to spend more time in front of a microphone than at his office desk.

Just procedures put in place to look like democracy in action. At the end of the day, the government does what the (fill your own term here) wants. The "opposition" also has to look like it's serving a purpose, it's their livelihood. It's all smoke and mirrors. Call me cynical.

If TAT wants to attract the elusive "high end" of the tourist market they will have to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is built to the needed quality and . . . . . maintained.
Not holding my breath.
If they simply make the minimum for a short time to be officially 1,000B.. that'd squeeze out the Indians and other lowest mass of dirty farangs and markedly improve the condition and the reputation of the market.

US battling to swing Thailand away from China
in Thailand News
Posted
Not racist at all but the fact that hundreds of years of Chinese influence and cultural ties can't be discounted. It is a deeply rooted one and not unique to Thailand. If anyone ventured onto the streets of Bangkok last couple of days, you'd have noticed every other woman in a Chinese dress for the New Year.
