It seems there's a bit of miscommunication, as usual. What the good general intended was to only allow pocket sized hand-sanitizer bottles as was demonstrated by himself, given the pandemic.

Once covid-19 has been completed eradicated, Pattaya's 'family resort' will return back to its glory days.
Trust you don't mind waiting several years.
Yup, for sure. After the Tsunami, they said Patong would never be the same and they were right; it took no time to recover and then some!
But it is disheartening to see people lose their livelihoods nonetheless.

I'm a U.S. Expat and have been living and working abroad for the last 30 odd years. In the U.S. no international license is required. Just present your Thai Driving License and they don't bat an eye. As another poster stated, and as is true in most countries, so long as the driving license you have is currently valid and in both English and your host country's language, you are good to go. International Driving Licenses were essentially to translate your host country's language and are no longer required if your host country includes English on their driving licenses, which Thailand does. These days IDLs are still hawked by the tourist/travel industry to generate profits. You can get one if that gives you peace of mind, and I get that, but it is not required in the U.S.
And hey, they figure if you can survive driving here, you can survive on U.S. roads! ????
The International Driving License that many are referring to here is really not a license; it's a "permit "which essentially is a translation document only valid when presented along with the original driver's license. So, as Thai Dan correctly pointed out, if the regular license is in English, you do not need the IDP.

4,000 a day, not just from the Taxi fare but also from renting out his cars.
Seems like a fairly low income considering the risk of outlay / finance on the cars.
Oh yeah... I forgot that he's the "chairman." 4K does seem low for the Don of the taxi mafia.
9 years of going to the mattresses to selling melons... i can't imagine the change of pace in life.

The title is not complete. Should read something like: "1.5 Million Thais Near Poverty and15 million at poverty."
If 1.5 million is correct that's helluva better than the US. ????

4,000 a day? That's more than what most uber (or cab) drivers make in the US! I hope the experience humbles him and has him reflecting on his past ripping people off. A cynic in me says it's doubtful though.

Misleading title. They aren't foreigners. They're Chinese.

She only asked for 40K? ???????? He's one lucky son of a Sven. But it could have very well been fate that brought them together.. neither of them got the clue from the "smiling policemen." They could have lived happily ever after with a great story to tell. How unfortunate.
What baffles me is how does one physically assault someone and get the LOS treatment and another gets his ass hauled to jail for writing a bad review in the same country? ????

Seeing the title of the thread, my initial thought was baseball players do those all the time... what's the big deal.

As the new infection rate begins to turn exponential, it will just be a matter of days until a full national lockdown is ordered. That may not be far off now.
They announced the potential shut down timetable of March. It won't be any sooner. How dare you suggest otherwise.

If they want to shut down a select type of business, shut down all 7-11s. Every Thai goes to the confined stores at least once every other hour.

Even Mexico, Costa Rico and Chile started to vaccinate their people with the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine already. But in Thailand, there seems to be no pressure at all and no priority to do that. Very strange.
I think you're being overly generous comparing Thailand to these countries.
