  1. You cant get 500 GB Acer hard drives for 1,000 baht. 500 GB drives will range from 2,000 baht for Acer to maybe 2600 baht for WD. The prices have definately increased since the floods though for WD. WD 500 GB before the floods were about 1800-2000 baht.

  2. Im thinking of installing a Lexicon home entertainment system. Anyone installed one in Pattaya ? How much was the total cost including materials and labor ?

I would be looking at :

2 x Lounge surround sound system

    1 x Bathroom

    4 x Bedroom

I may alter the number of rooms depending on costs.

    Any advice would be helpful.

    Thanks

  3. Ive always found it useful if people are trying to undercut you on the motorway when there are roadworks ahead just hang out level with the car next to you on the outside lane - then when you come to turn in you've a whole line of traffic behind you. Everything speeds up ahead of you - no idiots flying past you trying to cut in - you then get to watch 20 cars behind you try to push themselves in as theyve no idea what you were trying to do !!

  4. Driving up Thappaya road the other day - cars had backed up a good 100 yards around that U -turn section near Take care U bar.

Then went along Phratamnak road and they had cars backed up all the way to the Hot Rod Harley shop up there from the trafic lights. Surely when the all those condo's [the view - legend - art on the hill ++] are finished they'll be running rings around Phratamnak hill - will take you 30 mins just to get out of Phratamnak.

    Not much planning in that.

  5. Do any of you (I'm tempted to say idiots but won't)......

eh I thought you just said we were a bunch of idiots.

Id love this line Nancy classic. lol. Pathetic it is but made me laugh.

The Thai Baht is increasing in strength against the dollar as Europe is stealing more of the headlines at being flushed down the toilet before the US.

So US dollar strengthens against the Euro and other worldwide currencies.

    Is fairly simple really.

  6. Im planning on building a 6 x 12 Metre Swimming pool. I was thinking to take a lap pool pump and install it and the deep end of the pool. This would give a nice wave affect for the kids to play around in.

Anyone ever done this before ?

Was also thinking maybe I need to install a pool cover try to keep the pool as clean as possible. Is this really cost affective, how much water from evaporation would it save in Baht terms per month ?

    Any ideas would be helpful.

  7. Ive lost count with the amount of accounts ive opened and closed with Siam Commercial. Bond Account's. Saving's accounts with high interest. Ive no work permit, stay long term on tourist visa's.

I used to have an account with Kasikorn and asked if it was possible to see the manager with regard to obtaining a mortgage under my wife's name. Wasn't even allowed through his door. Closed my account as fast as possible to which they said it would take 2 weeks to make out a cheque for the 1.2 million I had in the account.

Decided not to wait the 2 weeks and cashed out the 1.2 million. Proceeded to then run across town with the cash to the Siam Commercial who I am glad to say will provide a cashiers cheque in 5 minutes.

  8. The Pension isnt inflation adjusted for people living overseas. So If you retire when your 67 and you get $120/week [example] It will stay at that level until your ten feet under if you continue to live in Thailand. If you go back to live in the UK then you will receive inflation adjustments of 3% year.

By the time im 67 in another 30 years they probably most likely change the rules again that you would have to live in the UK to receive the Pension so im opting out and paying a big fat zero.
