  1. The above list of documents required for extension is ok but the financials from your bank have to be there for the visa extension and the process is straight forward as before. The information that you have uploaded has missed out on the financial document requirement, surely.

Get the financial document and you are all set for a one year extension, without any hassles. Mind you, the money has to be in the bank two months previous to your application.

  2. I am landing at swarnbhumi airport and have the next flight from DMK airport. Does the express line train go from swarnbhumi to Dmk Airport. Do we have a free shuttle service for this transfer ? I do not want to waste money on a taxi and would like to know the information for the above two options available.

All REPLES are appreciated and thanks in advance.

  3. What are the present rules for mandatory joining army in Thailand for the year 2015. My son aged 21 years presently studying in Thailand got a letter from some army deptt to come for a visit.

He went and was told about joining the army services as this period starts in April every year.

    1. Is it still mandatory to join the army - I ask this question as he is pursuing his studies in his final year of university.

    2. Are there any ways and means around the aspect of joining the army as he hardly knows the Thai Language as he was staying in India till his birth but holds a Thai passport and can speak only a little bit of Thai language. He has long hair and cannot cut it due to his Indian religion which is Sikhism.

I would appreciate all replies so that I can be helped to get put of this problem.

  4. I agree with mr Richard. CMU does not have a English program for business studies in English. I looked into all the colleges in Chiangmai before selecting Payap University for International Business Management for my son.

The English proficiency test has to be undertaken as the first step to admission for this international course to sell if the student can cope at that level with the other students and teachers.

My son loves it at Payap and is enjoying every moment of his studies as it gives students a very good medium for studies and to excell as a human being in payap.

  5. I am looking for Apple computer distributors and exporters in Thailand whereby I can export apple computer systems from Thailand to other countries. I have spoken to apple but it does not encourage this kind of work as it already has its ow network in every country and wants to promote them though there is nothing wrong in exporting computers from Thailand like this.

I would appreciate all replies in advance.

  6. Hi folks,

Just got down from my bus from Phayao to mochit bus station at 6:30 am. Took a Taxt-Meter from the mochit bus station and told the Taxt driver not to go thru any highways as it was a not too crowded time on the roads in bangkok. I also wanted to avoid paying for the tolls. The ride was about 32 Kms from the bus station to the airport and took about 30 minutes.

THE TAXI METER READING CAME TO 241 BAHT. I thought to myself as I got down at the airport that this was the cheapest ride to the airport that I had even taken.
  7. Richa012,

U need 1-2 snaps of your husband outside of your house maybe with the house no,net showing if u can. Another one inside the house with him maybe next to the computer or while dining with him.

As for the map, the immigration people at maisai where I'd do my extensions were nice enough to ask directions to my house from their immigration office and hand drew the map there and then for me. Very touching !!! I keep a photocopy of the map and use it all the time for my marriage yearly extensions.

Incidentally since your husband is a Thai national, it would be easy for you to get a Thai passport based on marriage with him and that would save you the hassle of taking yearly visas every year. The laws for adopting Thai nationality for a lady who is married to a Thai man is easier than a foreign man married to a Thai lady.

And if your country allows dual nationality then you save the hassle of taking visas every time you fly to your country. Just something that came to my mind in your case and I thought I would like to share it with you.

  8. Amj007,

Get a new passport from your embassy in Thailand and a letter from them after your new passport is issued. After u get your new passport, take the old and the new passport to the immigration and they will transfer the existing visa onto your new passport without any hassles. This way u will get the same visa onto your new passport. After this u can easily apply for a new one year visa within the time limit before your old visa expires. I have done it before and it it not a problem to do it this way.

I hope that sorts out your issue.

  9. Hi tampa3,

The way I see it is like this as I hav been ia a similar situation before.

    1. Your parents name is in your birth certificate. U can get it translated into Thai from English language and get it attested from your local Thai embassy in your area. That takes care of your birth certificate.
    2. To get ur moms Thai Id card made you would have to go your local amphir office in your province in Thailand. And incidentally ur moms Id number would be on her passport as all Thai passports have the persons Id number on it.

The whole process would have to be dealt with your local Thai embassy and they will be more than willing to help you in this issue. Just ask them and they will guide you accordingly. Since your mom is Thai and you want to abstain Thai nationality it will be very easy for you to obtain it.

Any other clarifications do not hesitate to ask.

    Best of luck !!
  10. Well in this case, he could do the following.

Take one or two of his wife's relatives and go to the amphur offic with his son's birth certificate.
The relatives will vouch at amphur that he is married according to Thai customs. He might have to take a couple of marriage ceremony pics to show at amphur office.
The amphur office will issue a marriage certificate which he can use to obtain a non o visa at immigration but the overstay will have to sorted out before that.

    I hope that helps !!!
  11. Well, I think she has thought ahead of the times foreseeing the situation in her homeland and I think her brother is guiding her through her troubled times.

Anything can happen - meaning she might come back or she might not come back. Everyone can only predict in these conditions that are prevailing today in her home country.

It entirely depends on her and her brother's thought process as to what can happen as he has also been though the same state of affairs.

I would not be surprised if she decides not to come back and stay outside her country, but she would be a brave woman to take things head on if she comes back foreseeing the situation in Thailand at the movement and the odds she is facing.

  12. Gilfsailor who said in your last post :

"Most labor depts accept 2 thai workers ( besides/owner director) if it's a fully Thai owned company and the salary requirement of 50,000 also does not have to be met"

Can this company be opened in my Thai wife's name and will my salary as an employee of the company as a procurement officer for th company goods does not have to be shown as 50,000.

This is really informative and can all the process be done by taking my Thai wife to all the concerned offices instead of hiring a lawyer or not.

    An early reply is appreciated.

  13. Hi,

I need all you folks out there to clarify some of these points:

    1. I plan to start a online t shirt selling business for my Thai wife in her name and get a E-COMMERCE license and get it registered with the department of business development in Thailand.

    2. Can this kind of work be started by her by becoming the sole proprietor of a small company that i get started for her - FIRST QUERY

    3. Based on her sole proprietorship company, would it enable me to get a work permit in Thailand by becoming some part of her company whether as employee or whatever ...... - SECOND QUERY

    4. I presume that setting up a sole proprietorship is much cheaper than other company setups, so I would like to know the approx cost involved for this kind of setup - THIRD QUERY

    5. And this is for all you folks out there who are more aware of starting the kind of setup that I am inquiring about, I would appreciate if you can take some time off to pen down the full procedure for starting this kind of business in Thailand, I mean starting from the top to the bottom with all the involvements concerned with this business issue. - FOURTH QUERY

SO ONCE AGAIN I SINCERLY THANK EVERYONE WHO HAVE REPLIED FOR THEIR TIME AMD EFFORT !!!

  14. Well, I think the issue has been beautifully handled and answered by all the good folks on the forum.

The main idea was to bring all the options for this kind of working in front of all folks and make them aware as there are many who are doing this kind of think here, so now all those folks know all the options for them.

This has been quite a lengthy and informative topic and I'm sure that people doing this kind of thing are more aware of the rules and regulations attached to this kind of work.

Once again, yanks to all you good folks out there for all your informative posts !!!

  15. I really appreciate all the people with their nice and lovely information answers but like I said this does not hit the nail on the head, my dear sadly.

The positive member had some imfomative answers that you cannot get a WP for working online.and Timmyp wa informative enough to say to set up a company if it is lucrative enough to do this kind of work in Thailand.

Now we have another question that arises ???

REMEMBER THE FORUMS ARE ALL HERE TO GUIDE AND HELP us have ways out with problems that arise. So it should be in no way taken as I'm being stubborn or scolding the good folks on the forum for their replies.

My only intention is to take out the Juice from this question for everyone's awareness and benefit - NOTHING MORE.

Like I said that the other question that has risen now is that what kind of a company structure would be required to be set up since it is only one individual who is proficient enough to do this work online.

ALL REPLIES HIGHLY APPRECIATED IN ADVANCE AND I AM SORRY IF SOMEONE TOOK MY PRESEVERANCE IN THIS MATTER AS BEING RUDE !!!

  16. I think all answers are sidestepping the main point.

If it is illegal to work online while staying in Thailand as a foreigner, then how does one get the legal angle to This working point in Thailand.

Of someone commits a crime in Thailand the he has to face the consequences, then how does the working online issue get absorbed in the Thai laws as a legal issue.

It is not a question of investment, visas or work permits.

A very simple question that has never been maybe thought about by anyone for that matter and always getting sidestepped.

UNDER WHAT THAI LAW DOES WORKING ONLINE WHILE YOUR STAY IN THAILAND COME UNDER when the Thai immigration depp which is comprised from the ROYAL THAI POLICE terms it as illegal, so how does this issue get the legal angle to it.

  17. Clarified to some extend but still the question remains ???

What category does working online in Thailand for foreigners come under. If the Immigratio says it is not legal to work like this on your stay in Thailand, then what would make it legal is the real Question ??

If a foreigner working online while in Thailand and making money thru his work, then he has to fall under some visa category according to Thai immigration rules or else he has to get some kind of paperwork done under the Thai laws like a work permit or otherwise.

  18. Well JLCrab like you said that there is no visa designated for working online, then why would Thai immigration deter your from working online while your stay in Thailand,if this kind of visa provision is not there.

This leaves us with a big Q ???? Mark ????

If this is illegal according to Thai immigration I.e. working online while staying in Thailand, the if has to fall under some Thai immigration rule and regulation thus making it legal.

Casual browsing on the Internet or some kind of correspondence while staying in Thailand for your working organization anywhere outside or inside Thailand is kind of understandable but if this kind of online work is enabling you to make money during your stay in Thailand then it has to covered under some section of the Thailand rules.

Thai immigration categorizes online working while in Thailand is also a way of making money during your working hours. They deter you in this respect, so to make it official in their eyes some kind of Rule or Regulation in their Thai Rule Book has to be there definately.

A country such as Thailand that is having so many rules because of so many tourists and foreigners coming here regularly, I'm sure would not have overlooked this angle of online working as they are very particular in all their policies.

So some angle to this kind of work from the Thai Authorities definately has to be there.

Kindly delve in a little more depth to clarify this issue for the benefit of all those who want to work online while in Thailand.
