last time I bought land using a Thai company as ownership vehicle my lawyer said I should own 38% and the Thai partners (his office lady and cleaner and others known to him) the rest. He said if farang owns more than 38% of the Thai ltd company owning the land it will trigger an automatic investigation of the company by the land office, and due to the fact his cleaner and friends could not prove they legitimately paid their share that it would all be a problem. Recently I got fed up with the company route of ownership and transferred land titles to my wife and closed the company, and bought a freehold condo in my name just in case.

Truss forced into U-turn on tax after week of market turmoil
SunnyinBangrak replied to Scott's topic in World News
Not a follower of UK politics, but I believe the Goldsmith family are non royal Royalty, and credible sources. If what young Ben wrote here is true, then it shows the usual overreaction at top volume from the left to the 45% tax band removal. Truss, as a new PM should learn to NEVER cave in to the chronically uninformed that parrot blindly the msm narrative de jour. From Ben Goldsmith's official Twitter page "Estimated cost to the UK gov of: - trying to stop Covid: £360 bn - supporting energy bills: £150 bn - increase in NHS core funding 2019-23: £25 bn - reversing NI hike: £12 bn per annum - cutting basic rate of income tax to 19%: £5 bn - removing 45% top rate of income tax: £2 bn"

Estimated cost to the UK gov of:
- trying to stop Covid: £360 bn
- supporting energy bills: £150 bn
- increase in NHS core funding 2019-23: £25 bn
- reversing NI hike: £12 bn per annum
- cutting basic rate of income tax to 19%: £5 bn
- removing 45% top rate of income tax: £2 bn
— Ben Goldsmith (@BenGoldsmith) September 27, 2022
 -
Joe Biden’s latest gaffe plays right into Republicans’ hands
SunnyinBangrak replied to Scott's topic in World News
These daily displays of confusion, incompetence and weakness do not play into republican's hands. They have made the world an incredibly dangerous place. The peace and prosperity we took for granted during 45's term has been shattered. No patriots are celebrating this. -
I read this as a sly admission that the unprecedented storming of an ex Presidents residence and riffling of his wife's lingerie drawers(although most will have realized this once the desperate leaks started) was a complete failure. Once again they tried to kill the king, and once again they missed. They did not find what they were looking for. To be honest, I welcome the ending of the tacit agreement not to harass ex Presidents and their children. It will provide a huge source of amusement in the near future. Thanks Biden.

Mystery leaks hit Russian undersea gas pipelines to Europe
SunnyinBangrak replied to Scott's topic in World News
Did anybody credibly explain this away? Does Biden know what he is talking about? If so this is very dangerous games he is playing. "Speaking at a joint news conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Biden said, "If Russia invades... again, then there will be longer Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it." When asked how he would do that, he responded, "I promise you we will be able to do it." https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/if-russia-invades-ukraine-there-will-be-no-nord-stream-2-biden-says-2022-02-07/ This threat, which was carried out exactly as threatened(by unknown entities thus far) led unsurprisingly to accusations that the USA blew up the pipeline. As one MEP twittered. "Another cryptic post on Twitter came from Radosław Tomasz ‘Radek’ Sikorski, a Polish politician and journalist who is a Member of the European Parliament. His post contained an image that had been taken by the Danish Air Force previously, showing the Baltic Sea bubbling where gas is escaping from the damaged pipeline. All Sikorski wrote as a caption was: “Thank you USA”. https://euroweeklynews.com/2022/09/27/why-did-polish-mep-post-thank-you-usa-along-with-image-of-damaged-nord-stream-pipeline/ Beyond dangerous. Is Biden in control of himself? I hope somebody can get a handle on him before we are in all-out nuclear war. -
Well, seeing as I am being abused and called a liar for pointing out that BOTH Biden and Desantis with-held aid, I am forced to back up my assertion, at great risk(I think you guys know full well that Biden did what I said and expect/hope I will be banned for providing proof). Starts at 8 seconds in. https://www.wsj.com/video/opinion-joe-biden-forced-ukraine-to-fire-prosecutor-for-aid-money/C1C51BB8-3988-4070-869F-CAD3CA0E81D8.html SO Placeholder, can we agree now that you see proof, that Desantis is not a "lowlife" for leveraging aid, or they both are? Lets have some honesty around here.
-
You really ought to mention Biden also has a history of with-holding aid money as leverage to get something he wanted. Does that make him a "lowlife" as you call Desantis for with-holding aid for leverage like Biden famously did? Just accusing others of doing this using abusive and derogatory terms, while secretly knowing your own chap did exactly the same is dishonest. Desantis really stepped up to the plate with Hurricane Ian. Great exposure for him, and proving himself a strong steady hand to be relied on in hard times. Good to see.

Majority of Americans concerned about Biden’s mental health: new poll

Mystery leaks hit Russian undersea gas pipelines to Europe
SunnyinBangrak replied to Scott's topic in World News
I note Russian media is displaying anger over the pipeline sabotage, and also ridiculing the western msm narrative that Russia blew up their own pipeline because they are too dumb to flip a switch. -
Maybe we are living in the same condo? but our salt pool is a constant headache. Seems every year we must buy a new filter system wasting 30 odd thousand baht. Pool often turns green or murky and pool boys throw a load of chlorine in there to clear it and then the next week they say Oh the filter system broken again. I'd go with a chlorine pool if it were my own.

Liz Truss’s premiership has got off to the worst start possible
SunnyinBangrak replied to Scott's topic in World News
I fail to see how an election which would probably bring to power the party consisting of Dianne Abbot, Lammy and Corbyn and other ne'er do wells will help at all. In fact the extreme left LIB/Lab/green would compound the disaster into a tragedy by punishing responsible working people and throwing out freebies like confetti at a wedding. I'm wondering if the left are now reflecting on their harassment of Johnson for lying about having a beer with his colleagues(as did Starmer and others - and no I do not believe there is different science in London or oop north or whatever ridiculous excuse they had for Johnson drinks beer with mates = bad, Starmer drinks beer with mates = good). Did they really get what they want? -
Justice. Dictatorship style. "Say what you will about whether the United States is a true democracy, the threat of jailing a political opponent is still not something done in a democratic system. It is, however, something done by the leaders of dictatorial states around the globe" https://mashable.com/article/what-nations-throw-opponents-in-jail

Putin grants Russian citizenship to US whistleblower Edward Snowden
SunnyinBangrak replied to Scott's topic in World News
Interesting how there is near 100% agreement among posters here that Snowden, a whistleblower, is bad. Yet for the last few years every whistleblower to come out of the woodwork - such as Vindman and Ciaramella, have been called heros and protected by the state with peculiar vigor. Is it really because Snowden blew the whistle on Obama(so bad) while recent whistleblowers blew the whistle on Trump(so good)?? Would it not be more honest to call ALL whistleblowers good, or all bad, not depending on whether they blew a whistle on your side or not? I wish Snowden a peaceful and happy life in Russia with his family.- 48 replies

Majority of Americans concerned about Biden’s mental health: new poll
SunnyinBangrak replied to Scott's topic in World News
His comments on the diary are accurate. Can we just imagine if this was Ivanka's diary alleging Trump inappropriately showered with her when she was a child? It would be page 1-60 of every newspaper for a decade and 24/7 tv news coverage for centuries. But because it's Biden, the guy MSM is still shilling for, instead they go after the whistleblowers. Nobody is denying the diary is legit. Nobody on the left can bear what it says about Biden. Just censorship to keep the left uninformed about Joe Bidens true character. https://floridapolitics.com/archives/551919-two-florida-residents-plead-guilty-in-scheme-to-sell-bidens-daughters-diary/ At least Trump would be in regular prison if he ended up there. Biden on the other hand... -
Majority of Americans concerned about Biden’s mental health: new poll
SunnyinBangrak replied to Scott's topic in World News
On the subject of Biden's mental health, can anyone explain to me what he was trying to say when he made this recent toe curler? She was 12, I was 30???? Really??? "You gotta say hi to me,” Biden said mid-speech at the National Education Association headquarters in DC. “We go back a long way. She was 12, I was 30. But anyway, this woman helped me get an awful lot done.” https://nypost.com/2022/09/23/biden-leaves-viewers-stunned-in-teachers-speech-she-was-12-i-was-30/ -
U.S. aircraft carrier arrives in South Korea as warning to North
SunnyinBangrak replied to Scott's topic in World News
Another inexcusable failure by the biden administration. He was handed by his predecessor an historic working relationship with North Korea and he completely and utterly blew it. This failure makes the world a much more dangerous place. I find it disturbing that a guy who appears lost and bewildered on stage is making provocative moves like this. Actually no, it's terrifying not disturbing. -
Can farangs be Thai policemen? Can you just imagine the grift possibilities if wacky baccy is made illegal again. Police will have the list of 30 odd million people that registered to grow with that app. Knocking on doors never was so lucrative. It would be the greatest extortion spree ever, and I want part of it????

Finland mulls barring Russians from entering as border traffic grows
SunnyinBangrak replied to Scott's topic in World News
But surely these Russian citizens fleeing war are the real McCoy. Proper refugees. Genuinely fleeing for their lives to a safe country that should be warmly welcoming them, not turning them back to possibly their deaths. Feeling quite disgusted with Finland today, I thought they were a progressive and welcoming country to those in dire situations? -
Good to see these terrible restrictions and forcing people to take a vaccination they don't want dropped. We have come a long way from last year when the correct response to the unvaccinated was to fire them from work, banish them from society and/or punch them in the face. What I do find amazing is that science follows a countries economic situation. Who knew? Or has the follow the science mantra been abandoned?

"Former Attorney General Bill Barr dismissed the lawsuit filed by the New York attorney general against former President Donald Trump and his children as a "political hit job," telling Fox News it is yet another symptom of "Trump derangement syndrome" and the left's desire to "punish" Trump. "It’s hard for me not to conclude it’s a political hit job," Barr said Wednesday on "America Reports." "This is a woman who campaigned for office promising she was going to go after Trump, which I think is a tremendous abuse of office to go head-hunting and targeting individuals." https://www.foxnews.com/media/new-york-ag-trump-lawsuit-political-hit-job-lefts-desire-punish-him-bill-barr If even Trump hater Bill Barr admits this is "abuse of office" and another in a long line of witch hunts I think this is another one to ignore. I am wondering when and how this nonsensical persecution of Trump will end. Pretty stunning to think after 6 years of the biggest investigation into all aspects of a persons life this is the best they can come up with. Pure desperation.
-
Rather than be abused and called a raving ...ah yes I see you edited it hmm. From yesterday, here is an excellent summary of Biden's lies and corruption. Fully corroborated by witnesses involved. Just imagine if this was Trump. And just look at the lack of transparency and desire to investigate these dealings with nations the US is currently having difficulties with. I think we will need to wait until after the midterms to get the transparency you so desire. https://nypost.com/2022/09/06/biden-says-he-plans-meeting-with-xi-jinping-at-g-20-if-hes-there/
-
On the subject of transparency reducing corruption, I think we are all very aware that it depends which side of the political divide the person accused of corruption is on to determine how it is treated. With Trump we had about 6 years of all sorts of hare-brained accusations without supporting evidence which required forensic analysis of everything the guy did, without finding a smoking gun. People making these false accusations were not punished for doing so. The ultimate in transparency. With Biden, the subject of this thread, there is a giant trove of evidence of potential misdoings(and certainly proof he lied about overseas business) which was falsely dismissed as being foreign disinformation and is generally censored. People that honestly and fairly try to discus and understand what the evidence proves are normally punished often banned outright from social media sites. The ultimate in opacity. Yet you say that "Trump and the Republican party have actively fought such transparency". Clearly the opposite is true.
-
Avoiding delay you say? I'm thinking if these documents were so critically serious then waiting 2 years after Trump finished his term and decided just before the midterms to launch this unprecedented raid could be construed as particularly careless. Dawdling around for 2 years while America was under such grave threat looks like a bigger crime than Trump allegedly having classified documents at MAL in the 1st place.
-
I just can't understand why the DOJ is so worried about the special master. If everything was kosher they would be only too pleased to have this raid, the origins and how it was conducted scrutinized properly. Legal cases are not a race or a game of timing, it must be done correctly and within the constraints of the law. If that doesn't help the democrats in the midterms, that's tough. Reminds me of the frequently posted here saying, nothing to hide nothing to fear.
