"corridor gates"...unofficial boarder crossings...plenty of "tea-money"...to go around...allowing illegals to enter the country...this is Thailand...

This is a joke story, surely? How can you officially close an unofficial border crossing. How can Thai's complain about illegal workers when your officials are letting them in. Pathetic country.

  2. Outstanding cheesy.gif

And for those dumbasses on TV suggesting this is only a Red thing, <deleted>!

I know a couple in Khon Kaen that went to both the airport for the Yellows (B500 per day plus food and travel) and the Bangkok protests in 2010 for the Reds (the girl got the same as the yellow offer but the boy got B1,000 per day as he was prepared to get involved in violence if needed). They didn't care who was paying but were in fact supposedly Red supporters.

  3. I know from personal experience of my wife's family that the loan sharks in Khon Ken are now charging as much as 10% per month on loans. An 80,000 baht loan also required the 'deposit' of a 1 year old car. The loan shark even told us openly she already had 30 new cars from people that could not pay up on time.

"At this point, the police are doing whatever they can to arrest the perpetrators so that they could be brought before a court of law."

This is simply a lie, the police are being paid by the loan sharks. Similar to the well known drug dealer that lives in my wife's village. Everyone knows what he is and he know owns approx 1/4 of the village land. No one in their right mind would report him to the police as they all know full well he pays them for protection. I would not be at all surprised to find out that it was off duty police that did this. TIT.

    convenient cameras eh?
Makes no difference if drunk or not, if anything its worse to do it if he was drunk, and how was he driving anyway if drunk....although that could explain the cone hitting, but then that was bad visibility due to rain.

Do you often hit things when driving a car in the rain? There is more to this story. Information we will probably never find out..

Sent from my XT1032 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

You seem SO certain? Anyway it is so simple to discover if he is drunk this is pointless conversation. Also it is no excuse to stab someone. I do not support the reds but there is no excuse for such random violence from either side. LOCK THESE ANIMALS UP.

  5. "For the first two months of this year, the share dropped to 47-48 per cent. However, it bounced back to above 50 per cent in March, reflecting the improved competitiveness of Thai rice"

Improved competitiveness, really, over a 1 month period? I think that is called clutching at straws. With Burma and Cambodia fast expanding their rice production I see no reason why Thai rice would increase it's share dramatically. When Thailand decides to sell rotten rice to countries in Africa and the middle east it doesn't make other countries want to rush out and buy Thai. IMO this bunch of muppets (PTP) will continue to wreck Thailand's main export for as long as they are in charge.

    Funny that. alt=laugh.png>

I thought everyone in Issan was supposed to be debt free, living the highlife on (exclusive to Red shirt supporters cheesy.gif) above market rice prices, have Samsung tablets for all school age children, with every family member over the age of 18 owning a new car, double previous salary with no inflation costs eating into their new massive spending power, because that is what they voted for.

Wonder if they will vote for that again?

The loan sharks are making a killing too. We know one woman loan shark in Khon Kaen that told us she now has more than 30 cars that people left with her as collateral and have now defaulted on. Many are brand new but the owners had no way to pay for them.

The protesters are too childish and immature to accept anything else but "their way"

Its a shame Thailand has to be held hostage to these yellow shirt petty tyrants

I see zero difference between red and yellow in this regard, both sides are saying my way or the highway. Blaming one group or the other seems stupid to me, they are equally capable of violence and are both refusing to budge.

Corruption is a many splendored thing. The government isn't exactly a role model for lower authorities. It's grab as much as you can.

Thailand desperately needs a fresh new start. Perhaps a new anti-corruption agency can be formed. Give a few undisputed clean people a budget and a free hand in how to proceed in collecting complaints from the communities and names from the bad people. If the new lawmakers can adjust the present not working anti-corruption laws. There can be follow-up. And make the finances of such an institution transparent. It's more or less how at one time the FBI started.

But first the country needs a working government.

Sad to say the chances of that happening in the next century are both slim and fat.

If both sides aren't willing to compromise, then the only way out of this would be for the military to step in. Distasteful as that may be, it sure beats battles among both the red thugs and the PRDC on our streets.

Yes, my concern is the many thugs will take advantage to loot from anyone they want. Thailand is already lawless enough without full scale riots and looting and while my family is in Khnon Kaen and not Bangkok, I would not put it past many Thai's to try to take advantage of the situation and rob a few local farangs who would be very easy targets. I will be buying a baseball bat in the next few days.

The concert organizers should have know what would happen if they had a proven anti government protestor on stage. Don't blame the Reds blame the organizer of the event.

Don't blame the reds. That has to be the dumbest thing I have read this week.

How long are cherry trees in blossom..?Surely not the whole year and who will come here to see cherry blossom? lol.

2 weeks is the answer and it varies depending on the temperature. However given the temperature in Japan is colder I am not sure they will even grow here. I wonder how much they paid per tree, probably a ludicrous amount.

Whilst in Chiang Mai I heard that rainfall for the region 1Q14 was something like 42% down on the previous year.

    That is quite a variation.

That doesn't mean much if rainfall in the last Q1 was above average, it would more useful to say how much it is above average.

So those two are pictured as PDRC protest leaders now.

Strange that their name is never mentioned as protest leader before this day, not on this forum nor in other media.

Did they just get promoted today, or did Coconuts want to make their story a bit more interesting by throwing in some lies ?

    Google can be your friend...

    From your link.

stage organizers Chinnaworn Boonyakiat and Tanat Thanakitamnuay.

A stage organizer is someone who makes a living of renting out stages in my book, not sure if that is the same as a protest leader

You are clutching at straws here, they are clearly involved in the organisation.
