Use a seedbox, and you won't hog bandwidth due to upload/sharing. Zbigz mentioned earlier is a good example. Also Put.io. They will share back out for a 1/1 ratio...and even can stream it to your phone/tablet from the put.io site.....they have servers in Japan and Sngapore I believe.

Cant imagine why they dont just ship it from local Thai store.
There is no local Apple Thai store. Apple does not have a presence in Thailand other than resellers. That's why it comes from Singapore.

If your backing up to servers outside of Thailand, it'd probably be faster/easier to put everything on DVDs and mail them to the provider to copy to the server.

Here's a #protip for you all. Always set-up 2 bank accounts. 1 account, with the majority of your funds with an ATM card you never take outside. The other with only funds you need for a particular day connected to the ATM card you carry on you. If you ever need more funds, just simply transfer via your bank Smartphone app (or online banking) from the main account to the "outside" secondary account, and then use the secondary account ATM to withdraw immediately.
A) If your "outside" ATM card gets skimmed, you'll never lose much.
If you ever get held up or robbed outside, they'll never get much from forcing you to withdraw off that card you have on you.

Wait for Haswell. It is NOT just a minor upgrade, but the most significant Intel upgrade in many years. The power saving and graphics improvements are huge...ESPECIALLY for laptops.

I've been seeing similar problems as many have reported. True screwing around with routing. Using a VPN has helped immensely.
-
Yeah good luck with that. Not like there aren't a million ways to bypass those kinds of blocks that are discussed and laid out all over Thai message boards like Pantip.

Nothing in Thailand is run by Apple. They don't have a presence here yet. Everything is authorized service center, or just independent shops that have techs that know Apple stuff (hopefully). You can check the Apple site to see which ones are actually authorized.

I have an Apple TV hooked up to my TV, and the NCAA tournament app on my iPhone (can also be ipad or iPod touch). The NCAA app is free and you can see all the games, PROVIDED you also have either a VPN that shows gives you an IP in the States, or a DNS proxy service like Unblock US (something like that).
Google search DNS proxy and you'll see some options. Sidenote: ONLY use the DNS proxy for streaming...as the way they are usually set-up, whoever runs the proxy can see everything you're doing online.
Back to viewing...so I put whatever game on my iPhone and just airplay (easy built in functionality) to the Apple TV and voila.
I also use NFL GamePass to see all NFL games, but this require a subscription, and MLB, NBA and the NHL all have apps. (Btw these subscription app don't need a VPN as they encourage international viewership).
It is a bit of a set-up, but once it's all done its easy peasy.

Apple TV w/airplay is just awesome. Watching all the NCAA tourney games in near HD on the big screen in BKK. Who needs TrueVisions? (Yeah yeah I now all you non-Americans or non Uni in US grads care). But seriously the flexibility air play provides is just incredible.

My 2008 iMac just bit the dust too. Logic board. 7K baht to replace. Did it at Amarin plaza...which according to Apple (site) is one of a few authorized service providers in BKK.
-
If you have a Thai bank account, should be able to pay in through online banking / bill payment.
-
It's awesome. Especially if you have an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or newer Mac that you can use to airplay to your Apple TV.

Haha I always send the wifey alone w/my passport to do 90 days and to get the 1 year post under consideration stamp

Cinexplayer can also play most any type of file (avi, mkv). Can add movies via direct interface (no iTunes) also....and no jailbreak required.

Stunned people think these are cool or a good idea. Imagine how you feel if strangers have a camera turned on you and filming you while you eat at a restaurant....walk down the street....etc. Well get ready for it...assume someone will be videoing you all the time...every time you pick your nose or scratch you ass, count on seeing it up on Youtube with a load of snarky comments.

I've had two support issues with AppleCare.
1) logic board needed replacing on an iMac. I called the Thailand Apple Support number listed on the Apple site, pressed the button for English and spoke to and English speaking rep. Ran through some basic troubleshooting, and was determined I needed a support call. Apple arranged for a tech to come out from a Sathorn/Silom location, he picked up the iMac, and I delivered it back roughly about a week later. Good service.
2) MacBook needed a HD replacement. This time after troubleshooting on the phone, I was asked to bring to MB to Fortunetown. I did...dropped it at iStudio there, and received a call roughly 3 days later to come pick it up. Again, good service.

Re: Dropbox, not sure. BUT if you have 2 computers on the same LAN/Wifi, Dropbox can detect that and will sync files over the local network rather than going out to the WAN/Internet, so that should help.

Start out on the Apple site. Plenty of free tutorials: http://support.apple.com/videos/

We had pretty much the exact same "story" a year ago with the 4S http://news.cnet.com/8301-13506_3-57321362-17/slower-iphone-4s-demand-making-apple-rethink-supply-orders/
Funny how this comes right before a blockbuster earnings release. This is just hedge fund guys driving the stock down to make a killing.

The problem with Android for kids, is that Android just has shitty apps (except for the Google apps and a few social media ones). For games, for education and for more *control* on what your kid can do with the phone, can't beat iPhone and the iOS ecosystem, even with a 3GS.
Legality of Piggybacking in Thailand?

If you get caught piggybacking on someone with influence or a company that wants to set an example, a couple hundred or even thousand ain't going to get you out of that jam.
