  1. Very true. But can retire, but don't burn the bridges doing it. leave the door wide open, Thailand can not be trusted.
  2. You need a hobby or two. not just birds and booze. I started to learn guitar again. got a nice mid range collection of them now. Strat, Gretsch, Ibanez, Yamaha, Guild, electric and acoustic. ( annoys the misses when i drop 20-25k baht on one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! had to buy her an I Phone 12 after last one !!!!!!!!!!!!!, she weren't going to let it rest . Can play smoke on the water with two strings now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. 14-7-2014. Spat dummy out, in Singapore, told office to !!!!!!!! off, i'm done. i'm taking the early retirement package. bye . never looked back. 14 million baht, buy one more property property and rent it out in oz. don't go all in with your dosh in Thailand, keep an escape plan ready. if ever needed. Renting out property is no big deal, just be prepared to throw some money at it all from time to time, and remain calm !!!!!!!!!!!!, use a good letting agent. tax return, get someone to do it for you, whats hard about that, ( i do me own for uk ) good luck
  4. I believe what ever government in Thailand says Past, present and future. Will be great to grow tomatoes in. Farangs have never been wanted. or valued. only there money has. Watch out for the sting in the tail, on there scams.
  5. Thailand is still a bottomless pit. And most Thai people chose to stay there. Money, Money, Money. Greed, Greed, greed. Me, Me, Me. Maybe better in 150 years time.
  6. You may wish to cheek that you can still qualify to pay the very cheep 150 rate, as you have left your employment, are you classed as self employed now or retired ? Best cheek up, don't assume anything.with uk DPWP or what ever it is now in the uk.
  7. Hold on this don't make sense. The UK pension increase per year, would never cover return flight, costs, council tax, utility standing charges, empty property insurance costs. and so on. so what you on about ? Or am I, 4 large Changs to early today ,
  8. Not true, pension will always pay some bills. But even better, have uk properties rented out and a shed load of cash in banks and other stuff, then retire early at 52 . sorry bit smug now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL PS sorry, forgot condo in pattaya and house in Isan for the misses and me. ( under construction now ) and both assets for the wife and daughter when i'm gone . but sure uk for me in about 5-7 years. Thailand will just be a holiday place. also forgot small company pension as well !!!!!!!!! to boot. Sorry bit more smug now , LOL.
  9. Yes i have just finished doing it, 35 years this year. 6 years back contributions and 10 years class 2 or 3 I forget now. Ps have a quick look at your math !!!!!!!!! LOL.
  10. His must be making voluntary national insurance contributions. if he qualified to do that. most can
  11. Totally agree with your post. But could have just left the bit about the news off the post !!!!!!!l LOL.
  12. not sure you need to be !00% fluent in Thai, but sure a good understand of it. it's all done on a points system. but think you need to sing the national anthem whilst hopping up and down on one leg, so i was told. !!!!!!!! LOL.
  13. Do you know what retirement is ? The thought of working again and for a Thai employer. #x#x that, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Ps, Who whats a down grade, anyway. No thank you.
  14. Your making the mistake, like many others here. Thailand is conning you, they hide behind the drink driving stuff year in year out. When the real truth is most Thai drivers and riders just don't care how they behave on the roads. they kill there children, there parents there friends and total strangers. and they do this, mostly stone cold sober. Thailand needs to grow a pair and tell the truth about how some Thai people behave on the roads. and treat them accordingly Sure drunk driving is a problem, but its' not the whole truth. but they wont tell you that, it's just to easy to say the alcohol did it. Not the bad people of Thailand did it. And anyone who thinks the Farangs are the bad guys, on the roads of Thailand, are just plain stupid or blind. Rant over, bye.
  15. Ah yes that reminds me of. !!!!!!!!!!!! LOL. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jY4tD2Hbg_A
  16. That's not very hard to do. Nice new income stream just waiting for them to get going. just stay one jump ahead of Thai tax man, if you can. i think the writing has been on the wall for a few years now. Thailand, love you long time, but money better mister. !!!!!! LOL.
