Stay at a nice hotel like the Plaza Athenee. Has everything you need or want plus Starbucks, Mexican, mini-mart next door.

I would suggest going to Central Festival where all the ISPs have offices and talk to them in person. They can check to see what service they can provide at your specific address; you can select which program you want. and make an appointment for a tech to come and install. Customer service on the phone could only give you part of the story.

Death Certificate translate and copy
cnx1204 replied to Surasak's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Take the Thai death certificate to a reputable translator and get it translated. Take it and the original Thai certificates to the U.S. Consulate in Chiangmai or Bangkok and they will issue you 15 stamped/certified Death of an American overseas as you wait. Make an appointment first, maybe call the emergency number reporting the death of an American and ask. If you are not an American, your Embassy's procedure should be similar but check first. -
I, too, am pleased with my Lazada bench.

Where to get a decent accomodation in CM right now?
cnx1204 replied to miancina's topic in Chiang Mai
You really need to look at a travel web site like Agoda or any of the others and pick a city. Only you can decide what is a reasonable price. -
1. It is not a criminal issue so the police won't help. 2. IF, REPEAT IF, there is a written contract/loan agreement, then he could pay a lawyer 50,000 baht and go to civil court. 3. If nothing in writing, there is nothing he can do.

We have bought potting soil, filler soil, etc., at several nurseries around Chiangmai. And shredded coconut fiber, etc., and have had no problem planting anything as long we act as gardners and do routine gardening, fertilizing, etc. Can you be more specific on the problems you are having?

Make sure anyone with dementia living in an assisted living facility has a competent and trustworthy friend/guardian available locally legally allowed to make decisions for/about him (or her as the case may be).

Bangkok Bank - Joint Bank Account
cnx1204 replied to FarangRimPing's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Joint account for umpty ump years, either of us deposit/withdraw/transfers unilaterally. I do most of our banking on-line. -
Yes, I, too, just show my Thai pink ID and off my post goes, letter or box. The only questions I get are "over night" or just registered. EDIT: But that was not the issue. I should not have included that. Bedbugy, As Jerno said, punctuation and separate sentences would help. On re-reading I think you were saying you wanted to close the PO Box you have had for 27 years and get your deposit back. The PO wanted identification. Over 27 years you would have had to renew your passport several times, just like the clerk said: 3 different passports on your record. So they want to see the current one to identify you are you before giving YOUR money to someone else. Right?

GOOD QUESTION -- if you are using a VPN to other sites in Thailand, it may be you logging in from BKK or Rayong.

You really need to be very, very detailed for anyone to help you via Thai Visa, as Celsius alluded to. What OS are you using? Broke "ONE OF MY LAPTOPS" is meaningless. They broke it physically ? Obviously not by hacking unless they caused a S/W problem that overloaded the battery (never heard of that before). Hackers wouldn't do that because they get nothing in return (e.g., ransomware). You have more than one computer. You imply the virus or whatever is one each one. What is your common link? Your google account, as Celsius asked? I could go on and on with questions.

I usually go to my local inspection shop about 30-60 days before. This shop is also an agent for my insurance, so I get the car inspected, insusrance renewed, and leave my blue book with them. When the DMV has stamped the book, they call me and I go in and get all the paperwork and stickers for the windshield.

To answer your question, YES. Bangkok Hospital is one that does (Bangkok Hospital)

Pgrahmm has excellent advice. If you go around with your wife and see compounds with guards, ask the guards also.

Go to an ophthalmologist. They could pick up a health issue; you need to check for glaucoma and macula degeneration. The ophthalmologist will dilatate your eyes and take an occular scan (similar to a CT Scan). The exam an optician would give you would be "worthless" if you have eye problems.

Any Nursing Home recommendations ….close to the city if possible…
cnx1204 replied to mikey88's topic in Chiang Mai
Home's doctors can take care of admission. A neurologist owns it and has a clinic there. They provide ambulance service to and from any doctor's office or hospital, so if under care of a doc at Sri Pat, for example, they will provide the transportation to and from (at a reasonable cost). Nurses and LPNs on duty, trained health care aides also there. -

Hard to reply without knowing more about the patient. Chiangmai Nurse in Ruam Choke that seemed to do a good job with a farang stroke victim I was helping. They spoke a little English and he spoke Thai. My Thai FIL, coherent and semi-ambulatory, was there for a year before he finally died after his body just gave up. I saw a Eastsern European who suffered a massive brain injury in there for 2 years until he recovered consciousness (after a fashion) and the family took him somewhere else. There was no need to talk to him. Chiangmai Nurse's fees are in the 25K baht range depending upon the amount of care needed. -
I use Thunderbird email client with my Gmail account and get a notification along with a maybe 5 secs little window that shows the sender. Thunderbird is great because you can do so much email work off line, e.g., draft msgs, file msg in Thunderbird local folders you create.

THB Cash upfront=annuity ?
cnx1204 replied to THAIPHUKET's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Where would you open the annuity? I know of several annuities opened in the US that send monthly withdrawals to Bangkok Bank. There are options but I know nothing. -
You simply want glasses prescription (optometrist's job) or a real eye exam? If the later, I would recommend Dr Paradee at Chiangmai Ram. Both Ram and Bangkok Hospitals have excellent ophthalmologists who work certain days; you can schedule on line.
