All these reported daily case rates are utterly meaningless without testing positivity rates and 7 day averages. The expat community are utterly asinine if they think this is going to be over anytime soon.
It's telling that people are dying without actually testing positive.
Test 100 people the most you'll get is 100 cases. I've heard anecdotally they're doing at most 15k a day.

There seems to be a direct correlation between life's champion who live in Pattaya and covid denial.
The amount of overweight 60 something men I know who have died from Covid is fairly high in my home country. The common theme in all of them was denial.

How many are Thailand testing a day?
This 2000 a day of positive cases stinks. I've heard anecdotally that hospitals in Surat and other provinces are full with 100s / 1000S of cases.
The UK are doing 1.2 million tests a day (includes lateral flow), how many is Somchai doing?

It's a busted flush. LOCKDOWN now or we're only going to see Indian levels of carnage and deaths.
The clowns at the top have have 15 months to implement a strategy and what do we have? Central World closing a couple hours earlier and no gogo bars.
Utterly ridiculous and would be laughable if it wasn't so sad.

Utterly meaningless figures with no real context. The WHO uses 7 day averages and 7 day positivity rates to extrapolate trends. Let's see them.
Anything over 5% of positivity rates is considered out of control.
Given Thailand isn't in lockdown and crowds are still meeting indoors then the rates can only go one way.
Can people please think before they post.

More racist comments.... thats helpful.
Would that be young Korean men who work out (in the 25 to 28 y.o. range) or are you just stabbing out at Jewish Caucasians who are from the middle east?
Are you canned?

Quick note: Vaccinating the population ISN'T an option. The supplies or delivery infrastructure simply isn't there.

A friend of mines family has tested positive with Covid via self-testing lateral flow kits after all experiencing symptoms. He got them through is employer in Singapore.
Obviously all are self-isolating but WON'T be informing the authorities as they'd have to do a ridiculous 14 days in hospital.
Given MOST cases are asymptomatic I can't see why they need to reside in hospital but on reflection I guess most Thais would ignore the rules and spread it.

The amount of false, ill-informed information on this thread is ridiculous.
It seems that every sex-pat in Pattaya or up-country in deepest, darkest Issan is suddenly an expert in virology, infectious diseases and vaccinations.
The amount of misinformation on here has really hit an all time low and we haven't even began to see the spread of the virus here. Rein it in a bit unless you actually have some proper informed opinions please.

Completely unworkable, the whole thing is either click bait or someone trying to keep themselves in a job. It actually raises more questions than answers.
* What happens to domestic visitors?
* Can children / under 18s visit?
* What's to stop visitors travelling north to other areas?
* What about resort workers that live outside the bubble who commute in?
* What happens if you are arrested, take ill or need to get home immediately?
* Will the sex tourists be paying for girls to visit them from Pattaya?
Like I said, it's completely unworkable.

Meridien hotel...
Years ago when I used to travel to Pattaya for 'business' Le Meridien was my hotel of choice. I have to say that's it's went significantly downhill now though. It's very popular with our friends from the Indian subcontinent. The reception staff were also hopeless and spent all day on their phones. Great buffet though.

The Swedish model was not the disaster the alarmist media tend to portray, and you can see this in the global data where Sweden is now about 25th in the world with 1,307 deaths per million, which is about average for Europe... https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
Sweden certainly did better than many countries that went into lockdown, including UK, France, Italy, Spain etc.
But my real point - imagine how much better Sweden and many other countries would have done if they'd donned face masks from the onset. This is now beyond dispute and is an indictment on the western experts, including the WHO who took too long last year to change tack. The cat got out of the bag, big time.
Lockdowns are a blunt tool. Sensible distancing, face masks, indoor restrictions where necessary and protection of the elderly would have much better managed Covid in Europe and Americas. Quarantines become essential when other countries fail with community discipline and contact tracing to control Covid.
Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, even Australia and New Zealand make it look so simple (some over the top stuff in Oz and NZ) and it is a pity the rest of world couldn't manage Covid as well as this region has.
Norway next door are 90th. Similar size population density.
It's been universally accepted that it didn't work. .
You're spreading fake news.

The Swedish model was a disaster. Don't let the truth get in the way of your agenda.
Look to Brazil to see what an ineffective lockdown in a poor country looks like. Its a war zone there.

If one person in the UK was able to infect 30 people why aren't there 300 community cases infecting anyone else? There seems to be no exponential rise in cases. Just pockets here and there. This doesn't make any sense to the old grey matter.

With some obvious exceptions Thailand needs to close its borders until Covid has been fully erased.
The world has changed, we can't justify death and despair by allowing sex tourists and backpackers to travel here to simply take pleasure with some local poo ying. This isn't just my opinion. Thais in general feel this way.
Please respect expats and Thai people alike.

Is the Irish Clock still going the Apple Pie and ice cream?
Last time I was in with my wife and daughter we ordered and it was delicious. I did notice that the portions were a bit smaller though.
I'll be coming into town to look at bathroom fittings this weekend so will stop by.

Once had to move a mattress 70km. I paid the local motorcycle taxi 500 baht to arrange the delivery in his pals pickup. It arrived covered in mosquitos. Don't recommend it.
