  1. The video I quoted above claims that the perps were Taliban ISIS who have hated Russia since their invasion in the 80's.
  2. I grew up in a town where neither Jews nor Muslims existed in any significant numbers. Those Muslims that were there there all Indonesian or Malay. My experience of both cultures has come only from education.
  3. The problem is that the Palestinians have never been allowed to govern themselves. You can say they do but the reality is that all movement of goods and people in and out of Gaza is controlled by Israel. Israel have always maintained a reason for the Palestinians to resist as they have never acknowledged that Gaza truly belongs to Palestinians. Whenever Palestinians do resist, Israel retaliates with wildly disproportionate force which usually amounts to war crimes. Then there is the constant encroachment of Palestinian land by illegal settlers, aided and abetted by the Israeli government. The story of Gaza since 1948 has been one of constant provocation followed by retribution. The UN is the appropriate body. It was mainly setup in order to prevent recurrences of the holocaust and even created Israel to provide a homeland for Jews yet here we are with Israel rejecting any UN authority.
  4. Tonight, Saturday, I went to walking street and visited the two most popular clubs. The street itself was quiet. At 8:30 there were only a handful of customers in the first club I went to then at 9 I went to the other club which was mostly full but I could still get a front row seat. Apart from handful of farangs who sat alone both places were patronised almost exclusively by Chinese and Koreans. Both clubs had only one girl each that I would consider were worth going there for.
  5. A possible solution might be to seek an international resolution to the conflict which is a just outcome for both sides and provides for sanctions and penalties for breaches of the peace..
  6. If we can't abide by international law we are not a civilised society. Pardon me for being a pacifist. I will condemn anybody who advocates violence as a solution to anything.
  7. You're advocating revenge rather than redress under international law. Turn on any US cable news network, and you’ll see one pro-Israeli pundit or representative blame Palestinians for their own deaths, or Hamas, or a combination of both. https://www.trtworld.com/opinion/international-law-guarantees-palestinians-the-right-to-resist-17810
  8. The problem here is the characterisation that all Hamas are terrorists and none of them are freedom fighters. If your country was under such a sustained attack as Gaza, would you join a militia to defend it? Who wouldn't? On one side we have a fully funded and equipped army with jets and tanks and on the other side we have a militia with nothing other than light weapons and home made rockets. How are they meant to defend themselves.? What tactics do they have to defend themselves? How many terror attacks have occurred since October 7th? i can find no reports of any. I'm not suggesting they haven't but there have been no reports. This is a war of retribution and revenge by Israel and nothing more. Israel does not have the right to revenge. It has the right to self defence and to redress by international courts and international condemnation, nothing more.
  9. Maybe you should consider links? I can only assume your figures come from the IDF. https://www.aa.com.tr/en/middle-east/80-of-world-s-hungriest-people-live-in-gaza-palestine/3156190 As of 5 March 2024, over 31,000 people (30,228 Palestinian[1] and 1,410 Israeli[9]) have been reported as killed in the Israel–Hamas war, including 94 journalists (89 Palestinian, 2 Israeli and 3 Lebanese) and over 136 UNRWA aid workers.[10][11] Since then, over 30,228 Palestinians (the majority of whom were women and children) in the Gaza Strip have been killed according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The total death toll in Gaza is presumed to be higher than reported,[14][15] with thousands remaining unaccounted for, including those trapped under rubble https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_Israel–Hamas_war Citing Gaza’s health authorities, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) also noted that some 62,681 Palestinians have been injured by Israeli strikes launched in retaliation for Hamas-led massacres in Israel that left some 1,200 dead and around 250 people taken hostage. https://news.un.org/en/story/2024/01/1145742
  10. That's not universally true. Ask Amnesty International for a start. I stand by by assertion that terrorists are only people credibly accused (at least) of having committed or planning a terrorist act. Proof is required.
  11. Terrorists are people who have committed terrorism. The vast bulk of Hamas are defending their country just as the vast bulk of IDF soldiers are doing the same.
  12. It would. I believe nothing emanating from either side of the conflict. I accept only independent press accounts and then only with a healthy dose of skepticism.
  13. You made an unequivocal claim that all Hamas are terrorists and now walking that back with your qualification of "military wing". Then you complained about moving the goal posts.
  14. One persons hiding in a building is another person's waiting to ambush.
  15. The entire Gazan administration are Hamas. So that makes them all terrorists? That's no more the case than all IDF soldiers are war criminals.
  16. Not what I said. That every male over 16 is armed in Gaza is no surprise. You made a baseless allegation that they "may well have been" accused of war crimes.
  17. "May well have been"? Is that sufficient for you? I think every able bodied male over 16 may well be a member of Hamas in Gaza. Is that not always the case in war?
  18. Corporations are people too according to SCOTUS. Pulling advertising is free speech. The US constitution may protect hate speech but corporations are free not to. Hate speech is illegal in many countries. I note Disney have pulled advertising on x. You don't support that right?
  19. Of course the right wing have never called for a boycott of any businesses they don't like. Fancy a Bud Light? A Starbucks coffee perhaps? Free ride at Disney?
  20. That's nonsense. There was no state of Israel before 1948. Palestine was among former Ottoman territories placed under UK administration by the League of Nations in 1922.
  21. All history texts are written after the fact. What is your point here?
  22. This is revisionist history. In 1919, Palestinian Muslims and Palestinian Christians constituted 90 percent of the population of Palestine, just before the third wave of Jewish immigration and the setting up of British Mandatory Palestine after World War I. For some, the term "Palestinian" is used to refer to the nationalist concept of a Palestinian people by Palestinian Arabs from the late 19th century and in the pre-World War I period, while others assert the Palestinian identity encompasses the heritage of all eras from biblical times up to the Ottoman period https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinians
  23. The source is spurious and I doubt that it's a credible source under the rules of this forum. It's a radio talk show apparently. https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/london-broadcasting-company-lbc/ Bias Rating: RIGHT-CENTER Factual Reporting: MIXED Country: United Kingdom Press Freedom Rank: MOSTLY FREE Media Type: Radio Station Traffic/Popularity: Medium Traffic MBFC Credibility Rating: MEDIUM CREDIBILITY
