  1. How about "free"? That would be nice but how about paying a few hundred baht for your "protection"? Would that be out of your reach?
  2. Such as? Not many if any at all that are as cheap as Thai Post. I didn't say that they are as cheap as Thailand Post and they are a few to choose from. By the way, if TP wont accept his package they are not cheap and a price comparison between one company that offers a service and another that doesn't offer that service is ridiculous.
  3. VAT at 7%, CIF value, no import duty.
  4. You are not compelled to visit this area....stay away if it bothers you and let others enjoy it From the content of his post that you quoted, it appears that he is a resident of the area, so he probably is compelled to visit the area. Even if he isn't a resident of the immediate area, he's still entitled to his opinion about the area as much as you are without having to put up with, "if you don't like it, stay away", garbage.
  5. No, most bars are not brothels.
  6. Said a poster who, clearly, does not know what a brothel is.
  7. "Should Uber be allowed to operate in Bangkok and other heavy traffic areas?" Why should there be a pointless discussion about a company that has no intention to operate in Thailand being allowed to operate here?
  8. It doesn't but, then, he doesn't want "to facilitate it's arrival in Thailand", he wants to send it to the UK.
  9. ...but risk no compensation (unless Epacket Plus is paid for and then the maximum valuation is only B1,500).
  10. They bought that part of the company, do you have any proof that illegal things happened? Uber in Thailand was never properly registered with the authorities as a taxi/ride hailing operator and was, therefore, operating an illegal service.
  11. Import duties if sent by courier Laptops are zero-rated for import duty, regardless of which entity brings them in.
  12. Not strangely unnamed , it would be more strange to name any business in Thailand when criticising them in print . No it would not be strange to mention the name for something as benign as an observation that they, allegedly, do not accept credit cards!
  13. Laptops are zero-rated for import duty, only 7% VAT needs to be paid.
  14. How did it get through customs? They're not prohibited, so why should laptops not get through Customs?
  15. "Is there a way to order a good system from abroad?" There's a new-fangled concept that has just been introduced called online shopping, I think it's going to catch on...give it a try. There's a thing called "Google" that would assist also.
  16. Read what I said again, you left an important part out.. Last week in Pattaya I was asked to pay cash for an electronics purchase at a well known outlet. Last month I was asked for a surcharge using my CC in Chiang checking in to a guest house. I don't need to read it again, you said that "so many places don't accept cards", that is false, these days most places accept cards and your (strangely unnamed) well-known outlet example of one place in Pattaya asking for cash does not mean that "so many" don't take cards. Passing on the card companies' small charge (not so common) doesn't mean that they are not accepted and is not an unreasonable requirement.
  17. In 21 years of living in Thailand, I have never drunk tap water ????. The authorities may say that it's safe to drink, That's because it is.
  18. It's a buffet where the customers cook their own food, isn't it? Perhaps the prawns were live when selected and she didn't like that concept.
  19. You could just tell them that it is something that is not on the prohibited list but then you'll lose any right to redress in the case of a problem.
  20. Check with other courier companies, there's more to life than DHL.
  21. Can I send valuable object, money and jewelry? Valuable objects, i.e. gold, white gold, silver, gemstone, jewelry, gem, coin, banknote, bill of exchange or any other printed matter which can execute the payment to the holder, traveler’s check, or any other valuable objects are prohibited for the international express courier service (EMS). The mentioned items can be delivered by international express courier service with insurance service (add-on). The conditions will conform to the policies of the destination country. 22. Was there a coup? Are coups legal? Why hasn’t he been charged with treason? Could the courts be corrupt? Does this cast doubt on the Thaksin (and Yingluck and Thanathorn) charges and convictions? What would a rational person conclude? Hmmm??? "Was there a coup? Are coups legal?" Yes there was a(nother) coup and previous coups set the precedent, whoever seizes power then has the right to issue laws having torn up the previous constitution. The judiciary then says that the constitution is no longer there and those orders, signed by the coup-makers then become laws, and that gives the coup-makers the legal tool. Whoever has the ability to seize power then becomes sovereign and they issue laws. "Why hasn’t he been charged with treason?" Because Thaksin didn't commit treason! "Could the courts be corrupt?" Yes, just as in every other country, including yours and mine, they can be and some are. "Does this cast doubt on the Thaksin (and Yingluck ) charges and convictions?" No, not necessarily. They both committed serious offences. "What would a rational person conclude?" You've had my conclusion to your questions, now what would a rational person conclude about it?
