  1. I’ve had that happen to me a couple of times. Thai people were good enough to catch me before I left the premises and give my card back to me. In several other incidents, when I reported the card retained by the ATM machine and even gave them the machine number, the banking staff told me I would have to contact my bank in America. I was using my debit card from the USA, so they were remarkably unhelpful. If the ATM is not physically attached to the bank, they will do anything to keep from being helpful.
  2. Brain surgery in 2009. Almost killed me. My neurosurgeon called it a “miracle”. That came six months after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. I have lived a charmed life. ????
  3. Just as unelected as the last one. Nice watch collection, though.
  4. Smiles make nearly everyone look better. My landlady told me that I was very handsome when I smiled. Poor gal must be blind. ????
  5. I wasn’t even aware that Bangkok Bank had a cardless feature and I bank with them. I have only seen “cardless” on SCB ATM machines. Can I get info about BB cardless withdrawal on Google? I have also lost about three cards in the seven years I’ve been here. It caused major problems for me. I just have no luck communicating with the people at Bangkok Bank. Only rudimentary English and rudimentary service. I really need a standby plan which would include cardless withdrawal, because my bank in America is notoriously slow in replacing lost debit cards.
  6. I frequently see references to “Cardless ATM” service at Siam Commercial Bank. My attempts to get information have gone unanswered. Could anyone shed some light on this service and exactly how it works?
  7. Why does Immigration allow a landlord to be so cavalier in breaking the rules? Isn’t a landlord REQUIRED to comply??
  8. I was told by an Immigration official that a copy of my passport was acceptable.. Who’s right?
  9. I can’t make mine believe that running more than one electric fan at a time results in negligible difference in electricity bills. She is nearly fanatical about this. My electric bill stays around 1000 baht a month. This only changes if there is more use of the air conditioner. She seems to think all electric appliances are equal in their power consumption.
  10. The latest guidelines would seem to indicate that ordering weed from an internet source is illegal. No way to determine who it is being sold to. Comments welcome. It would be nice to have it delivered but I doubt this will pass muster with the authorities.
  11. You are correct on the Rum and the Thai whisky, but I don’t drink either, so I don’t count them. I am strictly a beer drinker and it is no bargain here.
  12. Gratitude is a western concept that does not really apply in Thailand. You are only as good as what you can BUY!!!! The more you internalize this truth, the better off you will be.
  13. ALL alcohol is too expensive in Thailand. beer should not cost any more than it does in Cambodia, but they are determined to tax to the max every recreational brew.
  14. I’ve done this many times. Totally ignored by police. If it's illegal, then they aren’t putting much effort into enforcement.
  15. What would “create drama” would be a police raid and my subsequent arrest. There is precedent for such raids.
  16. A new place in Pattaya called “Pothole” is advertising itself as an “Amsterdam-style coffee shop”. This would seem to indicate on-premises consumption. Is this legal? Comments please.
  17. Access to the NHS is priceless. I consider Brits to be extremely fortunate to have such an excellent healthcare system. The other UK prices seem a bit high to me, but still not on par with a beachside community in the USA. Americans get ripped off at every turn. Bravo, Blighty!!!
  18. As the entire world laughs at the United States. I have started telling people that I am from Canada. What a sad development. Trumpers have destroyed the country.
  19. Ads are fine with me as long as they keep the forum free. I would not pay to access this site unless it were totally unmoderated and uncensored.
  20. I like to concentrate on REAL problems. A few extra clicks won’t kill me. The forum is free. Those who organize it have a right to make money. ????
  21. I will have to confess that I do not understand this reaction. Are ALL “Asians” supposed to share equally in responsibility for COVID-19??? I was led to believe that Covid originated in China. I cannot think of a country in Asia (except North Korea) where the general population has less of a say in the conduct of the country. Bizarre.
