The viruses, however, don't completely disappear,

    Exactly what I had said.

Many, but hardly all weaken. Then the timeline...How long do they take to weaken? Typical flu kills millions annually.

How long did it take SARS 1 to disapate? It hadn't and that's what covid is a stronger SARS, SARS 2. That's what they were studying in Wuhan.

Smallpox, polio are still issues but I won't go into that.

MERS, ebola, diphtheria, mumps, TB. Yup, just disappeared on their own donchaknow.

Some may, others may not. It's hardly that simple and a virus has no three year expiration lol.

  2. Bangkok

While I'm sure that CP has vaccinated all of their employees working at 7-Eleven I suspect that it was never easy in the best of times to keep 7 employees.

Maybe if everyone might note that there are some that are strategically open. That would be telling.

I've only noticed One near me that has closed other than one that had closed some months ago for renovation and never reopened.

For myself given many of the clientele being Moto taxi drivers and what not it's extremely high volume shop and I told myself and my wife to simply steer clear of the place. Besides its CP so why not.

  3. First, covid is not going away. With vaccine and herd immunity it can be mitigated. One year for the order, one year for the aftermath and one year begins the attempt to rebuild. This is just covid that means laws, trust, return to what most consider normal.

Especially if we lockdown for two months in next few weeks (in the next year there will be many lockdowns) the economy is doomed. This will take five years to recover imo. Thais already indebted. Economy already teetering since 2015.

Factories will have huge issues managing covid, illness and production. Two years or more.

We don't know the social implications of the loss of parents and breadwinners. By govts estimates 30k pm with nothing to reign it in. People are doing stupid stuff  yesterday I saw a guy buying carrots in Big C. He risked covid for carrots.

Tourism. As long as ASQ and all the paperwork and circus is in place tourism is dead.

Thailand will need to produce vaccine passport because why not $$$

I don't see the housing market moving or at all healthy. This can go on until the banks call the loans but they can't bc they've given overextended second, third mortgages. Oh well.

Politically there is no return to democratic process and what we in the west consider proper due process and jurisprudence. What this dissolution means for the future no one knows but I don't see how it can be a positive.

It will be five years or two years after the US sorts itself out. Whichever is less.

  4. Just a thought

Pattaya is a pretty rogue city, Chonburi. Like Phuket it kinda does as it pleases. Maybe this is sort of it's reckoning. Unlike Phuket it lacks money and real power to make things happen.

Government interested in Pattaya tourists not the local farang scrum sitting on beach road in nylon gym shorts, singlet and 40b flip flops trying to pick a ST up from some tragic looking prostitute.

The worse Thailand's economy, the more money my pension is worth.

Even my Thai daughter whom finished university earlier this year immediately got a decent job.

This is so I'm alright Jack it borders sociopathy.

Your daughter is very fortunate. Many students even from the top three universities have found it near impossible to find work upon graduation. I recall the total number of unemployed or underemployed each year at 660k although this would include presumably rajabats and sketchy universities.

Not worried about the economy and career prospects your daughter inherits? Thailand's misfortune is your opportunity. That's a shame.

There's no point worrying about things that don't impinge directly on your everyday life and/or that you cannot change.

What I read in your many long posts is an overwhelming anger tinged with angst, mainly about 'the govt/army'. There are very few of us expats who actually like the govt/army, but most of us manage better than you do to stand above it all and instead to concentrate on the many positives of living in Thailand.

You know what the positives are. They are available to you. The problem you face comes from within your mind.

My advice: try to chill, meditate, smoke some weed if that helps you to relax. Smell the roses. Stop blaming things outside your influence for the disappointment you feel within.

Remember that from your hospital bed or self imposed home-jail.

Get covid - go to hospital-jail.

  7. The broke ass 60+ crowd think things gonna be alright. Ignore all, it goes away

But covid isn't going anywhere. Best you go home no matter the cost bc they'll let you die here and you'll pay to do it.

This covid thing gonna go wide so hope y'all pllan on staying in your bunkers FOREVER. My niece had mRNA vax and she has COVID-19. How you gonna deal??

So Tor certainly doesn't use Firefox.......

You can access Tor through, I think Firefox,  as well as definitely Brave and possibly other browsers.

Tor also has it's own browser.

Some may find this interesting -

  9. Thai students get get great tutors for cheap. They have an excellent command of their subjects and charge half of what many of you erroneously believe you're worth. It's good enough to get them into finals for national merit scholarships. I just tell my students to never take a foreign tutor. Half of them are their because of lack of degree and the other half a lack of discipline.

Teachers teach, tutors tutor and those online are just having a go.
