Lotus’s go pet-friendly shopping paw-tnership in 100 stores in Thailand
Thanks for the list. I rarely go to the local Lotus's big store because of geography and traffic. I was in there the other day at 8 AM opening and walking through the mall corridor, I noticed either MK or KFC had a sign at the corridor entrance saying NO DOGS -- I thought that was odd. Why would there be a dog in the corridor? But then I read here of the policy.

So if dogs do not go into the Tesco/Lotus's food store, what happens to the dogs when the dog owner wants to go into the food store.

Calls for clarification of new Tax regime which appears to target expat foreign income sources
I have read Article 20 of the DTA. So if 100% of the money I transfer to Thailand comes from Social Security, which is exempt from Thai tax, how do I report that on the PND 90 form? https://www.rd.go.th/fileadmin/download/english_form/030265PIT90.pdf

Well I hope the Lotus folks properly identify which stores are pet-friendly so I can go elsewhere.

Anyone have any experience with an insurance company...WrLife?
This is interesting Facebook posts -- hit the x to get past the login. https://www.facebook.com/InsuranceWrlife/posts/pfbid0NngRa5qh3fbu7YPnoZpKSrrKReQ7Q7LJbmB9SsVbRE2rbcUC7ZZBUcqmLSK7dS8Sl including: #1 Insurance Wrlife They wouldn't cover me for an operation But maybe you simply did not tell the truth about your medical history. It seems that you did not have insurance before because you ignore my question : what was your previous medical insurance? If you have please send a copy to patrick<at>ag-service.org Then you make a cover. Then quite immediately you claim for a medical pre existing condition confirmed by the hospital and a second opinion team. #2 Insurance Wrlife This is not true. They cover a lot of people. But some people are lying about their medical history. They are already sick and have no insurance before.

Thank you. They have already paid out well in excess of my premiums to date. Just like winning a long-shot bet at the horses. I will just note on this forum and the Medical & Health forum there regularly occur topics and replies as to how an insurer might find out about one's past medical history if I don't tell them.

Well that's good because, when they deny your claim, you won't be out as much money as the money you paid into the big-time insurer when they deny your claim.

Calls for clarification of new Tax regime which appears to target expat foreign income sources
Well, once again, if any or all of this goes thru, my plan would be to switch to marriage extension which my current Social Security almost covers with a top-up per month less than 150K per year 0% bracket.

Once I read of what happens when you are registered in BVI I said this is getting way beyond just a simple analysis which is all that interests me. And it was some other guy that said that an individual has no enforcement rights on any treaty.

Calls for clarification of new Tax regime which appears to target expat foreign income sources
I just put in a simple worst case scenario. But for me I am on a retirement extension and want to know, after my next extension whether, I should switch to marriage. No big deal.

Well for a simple analysis, if you are on an exension via marriage at 40,000 baht per month that is 480,000 baht per year which would put you in the 10% bracket. So 4000 baht per month for taxes or $US 100+ per month even assuming ALL of the 40K per month is taxable. The problem for extension via retirement is that the 65K per month would likewise put you in the 20% bracket. OUCH. Hopefully at least Social Security would be exempt and you would only pay tax on the difference between your SocSec and the 65K which you could try to keep in the 5% bracket.

So, to add to the above, even if add had to top-up social security to get the 40K per month, that extra money might be in the 0% level if under 150K per year or about 10K per month top-up which would be more than I need.

Not to worry. Trump will not again be President. I read it on here:

And if push comes to shove, I will maybe switch my extension via retirement to extension via marriage where my social security mostly covers it. As Per section 20 of the Thai-US tax treaty, social security can only be taxed by the issuing country.

Trump inflated net worth by $2.2 billion, NY attorney general alleges
What We Know About a Judge’s Finding That Trump Committed Fraud Sept. 27, 2023, 5:43 p.m. ET But Justice Engoron also took the unusual step of canceling business certificates that allow some of Mr. Trump’s properties to operate. John W. Moscow, a lawyer who has worked on fraud investigations for more than 40 years, said the dissolution of the companies — nullifying their very right to exist — was striking. “Corporate dissolution as a sanction for misconduct is not something I’ve heard of,” he said. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/27/nyregion/trump-fraud-ruling.html https://archive.ph/epQF3 NB reference to the 'June ruling' here: https://edition.cnn.com/2023/06/27/politics/ivanka-trump-civil-fraud-case-donald-trump/index.html
